I used to have this problem with I first started grooming and now I don't - and I even wear lower, open shirts nowadays :D It might have been my old clipping technique that forced hair down my top - but I can't think what that might have been. I have a special grooming work bra, it's from target and looks like satin, but clearly isn't. I guess like others have said make sure you are wearing a good apron and try using breast feeding pads

A few of my favourite individual dogs include Sam the boxer, she loves being bathed and her whole body wiggles in excitement and Zoe Cav who is such a lovely old chook. The dog that used to make my day was a little apricot poodle, I loved going to work knowing she was booked in that day. As for breeds, of course I love doing the Shepherds and I love doing Samoyeds because you can make such a difference in their coat with a good soak and brush. For clipping - Poodles of course! and those Shihtzus that have the most gorgeous hair on their faces that falls in such a way that you couldn't mess it up if you tried. :p The one breed I don't like doing is Rotties, and there is a particular 'dumb' Gordon Setter that I just can't tolerate... she's gorgeous when I'm not doing her - sleeps on the edge of the bath, but by golly she is dumb.

Simple Way To Cut The Drying Time By Half

Yep they are great to use! I think the brand I have is 'moisture magnet' plus I have some microfibre towels from proplan... but they are pretty small for a Shepherd. -
Sporting Cut For Maltese - Any Ideas?
Vehs replied to BittyMooPeeb's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
This is actually on a malt x bichon (or poodle, but the eyes are very bichony) I like this one because the legs are left longer which helps to disguise weird bendy bits. Also on Blossom I wouldn't leave the ears long I'd either round them off or follow the ear shape - they look younger this way. Not sure if this length is practical for the mud. -
I'm only comfortable with 6" pair (takes me a while to do st. poodles ) and use wahls and roseline as well! The longer scissors we have in the shop are too heavy for my wrist You could also look at Wolff, Solingen and Kamisori.... $$

your dogs are hilarious! But at least you've improved. Don't let these idiots get you down, and I hope your still having fun with the little cutie.

Do You Measure Your Dogs Food And Bones?
Vehs replied to Norskgra's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Nah, I don't measure I just "know" by the look of the food. I popped into this thread because I'm going interstate and have to write down what to feed Jim when I'm gone so measured his dinner tonight and wrote up a daily list :D -
What is the worst coat to clip that you have found? Black Cockers: thick, curling coats. Although the worst matted Cocker I did was golden #15 on the poor things lower legs Oh, but we wash him everyweek Fabulous, wash your matty flea infested [small](well that's a lie, Ive only seen two dogs with fleas)[/small] dog and let him writh about on the law so leaves and bindis get stuck into his drying matts stabbing him as he walks about. Meanwhile you've accomplished nothing because you couldn't through his matts to cleanse his skin and now his matts are sopping wet and tightening up *calm breaths* I've got my poodle coming in tomorrow

Just wait till summer Shmoo, they all start coming out then, along with matted double coated breeds. We've built up a nice regular clientel, but we still get a few of these types in. A poor little maltese had to come all off in a #7, thankfully not a #10 for winter
-
A #10 is too short to use on the body, I usually only use a 10 in groin area. If her hair is thin, and free from bulky undercoat you MAY be able to use the comb attachments, but this isn't likely so I would probably look at getting a #7 blade to clip her body in.

Don't worry about it - Tiger looked great! :D and Chili is such a peanut :D I love the down
-
Jim doesn't smell, but he does have a range of fragrances - they are out at a friends house who has a smelly pug pup What I find makes the scent last longer is to spray deep between the coat on the skin at the neck, middle of the body and base of the tail - they he gets and all over squirt. I washed him last weekend and he still smells of his millenium cologne
-
Jim wees on command for "toliet" I thought I had him pooing on cue, but I think that was more coincidence, but he does respond to the black poo bag when we are at the club and will run off to a secluded spot. I just kept saying 'toliet' when we were housetraining him

A Question For Those With Large Double Coated Breeds
Vehs replied to Veanna's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Hi Veanna, as a groomer and a fellow GSD (black n gold though!) owner I couldn't push you enough to get a good dryer. When they start molting it is a sanity saver! Warm water, a 10min soak in conditioner and a thorough blow dry means I barely have to brush my boy on his bath days. I wouldn't use the FURminator or a coatking on my own Shepherd - I don't like the cutting, and with Furminator/carding, it works better on Rotties and Labs than the longer coated dogs like Shepherds, Huskies and Goldies -
:protest: I don't believe you have her... we need photos!

Why Does My Puppy's Breath Smell Like A Bum?
Vehs replied to BittyMooPeeb's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Any changes BMP? -
I imagine she's now worm free? Dieter does the rounds in the morning of, kiss face turn around and stand with bum towards us and we give his legs and back a big rub or he will walk under and outstretched hand and pause when it is on his back for a rub...? If the other dogs aren't doing any doggie things to her and picking up on cues, it might just be a quirk

Oh, he's a permament at Daisy's? Well how come he didn't go there with that warning?
-
I hope Clyde will be going to his new home with the warning for 'food finder and devourer' Glad he's alright - I'm feeling a bit icky after half of my egg damnit, I had HUGE chocolate cravings 2 days ago, now I'm just eating it to be poliet
