Thanks for all the info thus far ) I really appreciate it.. I think we will try a pair of doggles first and go from there
-
lol yes, I know.. I expect we will have to train him.. and just get him used to them over time

I want to buy Oscar some doggles.. as we go to the beach a lot and we walk/jog with him as well. I don't want him getting any eye diease that I can help him not get.... I have searched on ebay and there is a seller on there selling the for $29.. which I think is a pretty good price.. I was just wondering if any of you have doggles and if so where did you buy them from? Thanks in advance, Lisa

:D Don't get disheartened.. I know with Oscar one week he was great.. the next he was a little turd lol.. The crate was great he was tolilet trained within a week and a half by using the crate Good luck and remember she will get it
-
Oscar used to bark when we first put him in the crate.. Can she see you? I read that to make Oscar feel apart of the family.. When we were introducing him to the crate we had to have the crate in the same room as us.. Now we can put him in the crate in the laundry by himself...

Help! Out Of Control German Shepherd
OMD² replied to Bullygirl's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
crikey!! I can't help you sorry.. But I would go to a trainer if it was me.. Also our trainer told me not to play tug of war.. because the dog then thinks it can beat you (stand over you).. Don't know if that's really true or not.. but we don't do it just incase Oscar is a totally different doggie since we went to a trainer for 30 mins on our first visit.. He was begining to think he was king of the house.. Just little stuff has helped us.. ie; making sure he see's us take his toys away... and allow him to play with another.. That's helped with him not thinking everything on the floor is his.. eg; shoes... Good luck edit:spelling -
Toilet Training Out The Window
OMD² replied to BittyMooPeeb's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
We have floor boards as well.. As soon as Oscar gets his little feet on carpet away he goes PEE PEE PEE!!! It's when we take him over to the in laws who don't care thank god.. But today I took the crate with me and crated him for an hour and then took him out to wizz.. No accidents on the carpet today  and he was there for about 3-4 hours I was very proud -
Oscar did that to me the other day.. I took him outside.. all he wanted to do was play and run a muck.. Waited for about 20 mins and I needed to go to the loo.. So inside we both go.. Sit down on the loo and he looks at me with his beautiful eyes and does what Mummy's doing GRRRRRRRR

arh yay I thought I was being mean lol So I crate him.. then normally after an hour I take him to wee wee or poo poo lol then I play with him for about 30 mins to an hour Grab some food bits and place them in the crate... then he watches me for a while.. and falls asleep.. then I repeat.. That's ok? At night he stays out for longer as we play with him a lot.. when it looks like he's starting to slow down ie; isn't really interested in catching us anymore.. We put him back in.. thanks for your help.. I've never crated before.. Molly our staffy was already toliet trained when we got her.. Although she did do little oopies now and again.. but that didn't bother us .. I wish Molly was around to help out lol She would have loved Oscar
-
oh ok.. I have no idea why I needed a crate then.. because Oscar stopped weeing at night about 2 weeks ago.. he always holds till 5am during the day is another story lol
-
Also how many times a day should I put him in there?
-
First off.. I did do a search.. But for the life of me I can't find what I am looking for.. So I am sorry in advance if this has been asked a million times before.. So we are trying this crate training thing lol The vet said it would help us toilet train Oscar.. So we have had teh crate for about 4 days now.. We read that we have to make it a nice place for him..etc etc.. We intise him into it with food.. Ileave his water bowl in there and I also feed him in there.. Sometimes I close the door while feeding other times I leave it open to show him it's ok. However most times he leaves a leg out so we can't close the door lol When we do close the door he wines for a few mins and then just sleeps or watches us. In the mornings my husband gets up way early for work.. So he takes Oscar for his workings and plays with him and then puts him back in until I wake up. The mornings he is good.. He will wine when hes busting.. Like yesterday he wined and I though it must be a let me out I need to pee wine.. and he raced straight to the door and he did a 1 and a 2 yay I put him in about 1 hour ago beause I needed to vacuum and mop the floor.. he's just resting atm.. My question is.. Should I wait for him to tell me he needs to go to the toilet or shouls I just let him out and take him outside? I let him out this morning and he did a 1.. I brought him inside and he played on the floor for about 15 mins and then did a wee.. I caught him mid pee and picked him up and took him outside to finished.. When he did I praised etc etc Bring him back inwith me to the computer room (where we were before) about 5 mins I turn around and hes done another one lol I know this is going to take a while.. I just want to get the crate thing right.. Before he lived in the laundry.. He liked it in there and would go into the laundry by himslef to sleep etc When i have the crate in there he doesn't want to go in the crate he just wants to sit in his spot near the door

I don't know why I come into this section.. I always end up crying I am sorry for your loss. She'll be waiting for you on the otherside ... But for now she is free to explore in a place where she can never be hurt

Congrats on your new family member My husband and I have had our doggie for 3 weeks now and like you he would cry at night. The first night he was fine.. He dropped off to sleep for the entire night.. I think because he was plum tuckered out from the big day. The next night he cried and cried and scratched the door etc etc.. Chris and I ignored him for as long as possible. Then we decided to tire him out by playing with him.. At 2am!! OMG!! The next day I told the lady across the road what happened and she said we shouldn't have gone to him.. So the next night.. We put a T shirt od Chris's in with him.. A clock was hung on the wall. We then said Goodnight Oscar.. Sleep time now and closed the door. As the previous night he started to cry. We ignored him, until I thought surely people will be getting sick of this noise.. As the lady next door had said something about his crying at night.. So i went to his door and said NO Oscar!! and he was quiet for about 15 mins and then he started again. Again I said NO Oscar! All was quiet for about 40 mins and he was at it again. Again I said No Oscar! and I slept like a baby for the rest of the night When I let him out of his room.. I say good boy.. But don't make a big deal out of it.. Everytime he is put in the room (ie, night time, or when I go out) I say sleep time now and close the door. When I open the door I say hello and we walk straight to the back door to go outside to do his stuff and play around. It takes time. I think they think you won't come back. So until they get taht you will come back.. He will cry and want to be with you. Oscar used to be my shaddow for the first week =.. Now he's his own little man.. but still likes to be by my feet while watching tv or I'm at the computer I don't know if that is right or not.. But it worked for Oscar.. Now he's fine with staying by himself :p

OH he's so cute
-
Do I have any pics lmao..Um yes, a few million lol Here's a few for you He ate his breakfast this morning He left some in the bowl.. however he just went back to demolish that down :D
-
Thank you for all your replies I really do appreciate it. He ate his lunch and just had another tummy full and water :D I think I have a bit of anxiety myself lol. I've fallen in love with the little fella and don't want anything to be wrong with him. I will look up the crate and pen ideas.. Atm I have him locked in the loundry when we go out. Nothing for him to get into their, except his toys. The lady at the pet shop told me to be strong and that he has to learn about all the noises etc etc in the house and not to give into him when hes crying for me.
-
Yes, he went to the vet yesterday.. I just rang the shop and they seem to think it's because it's a bit hotter today and he doesn't have any litter mates to fight for food. She said to ring back if he hadn't eaten anything by lunch. He's up to date with worming and vaccinations Other than that he seems fine.

Hello, second post of the day is in the help section lol.. I hope I don't have to post in here too often. My husband and I just became proud parents of little Oscar (shih Tzu).. He understands that poo poo's are for outside :D I am very proud of him.. We had a great day yesterday learning that. He has been doing some wee wee's outside Although he still has a few mishaps, which is fine with me. He's only little and still learning, plus they are my fault as I must have missed the que for it and didn't take him out in time. Yesterday his poo's were a little bit loose.. The pet sho said I should expect that, as he gets used to his new environment. Last night they were better.. However he did do a lot of poo's yesterday.. Is that normal? I feed him 3 times.. however last night he only ate a little mouth full and he'd had enough. This morning he doesn't even want to eat anything. I tried hand feeding him and he ate one little biscut.. I show him the bowl and nothing. I'm getting worried. If he doesn't eat lunch.. I was thinking I should ring the vet. Or am I worrying over nothing? I have a few other little questions.. but atm I am more concerned about the not eating bit. He seems to be totally attached to me. Everywhere I go I have a little four legged shadow. Do you think he might be anxious because I left him for 3 hours yesterday? I have his bed and take his toys in to the laundry.. That's where he sleeps at night and where I put him if I have to go out. I was planning on staying home for two weeks and gradularly increase the time he is left alone... Thinking this would be less stressful for him... So I don't know if that has anything to do with his not eating thismorning or not.. Will a puppy go off its food if it has been left alone? Thanks in advance, Lisa
