  1. Hey congratulations! Did this "order book" perhaps include one for you??? :)
  2. I feel it would be one of those times when the fairest thing to do is PTS straight away.
  3. Dash I've had a litter this "early" and they were all good healthy weights besides one little one. I wouldn't be too concerned so long as the process from here on is text book (if there IS such a thing!) I'll check in regularly for news!
  4. Photo??? I like snakes and wish they could be left alone, but where i live we are in a set of 20 units, we range from 90 year old ladies who spend all day every day into their garden down to i guess it would be me - pregnant with a new born only weeks away. It isnt safe to let them have run of the place when they do show up My brother has a snake (python of some sort) and i love him, im one of the few people who will walk in and hold him, everyone else is scared of him! I think they are amazing animals... when not in my backyard! Here you go.... my beautiful Elmo. *Named by my kids.... He was about 18 months at a guess in this pic. I must take some new photos of him as he's a big, beautiful boy now! See him smiling???? Proof that he doesn't want to hurt anyone! :) Elmo is freaking me out Jeropath. Yikes, I can not belive your kids love him. I am not saying it is bad or anything, I am just not used to it, let alone being friends with venomous snakes. Are you married? How does your wife cope? How does my Wife cope???? My Wife has a bigger collection than me! She runs a business called "Kinder Kritters" and takes a hoard of animals (reptiles and Marsupials) into Schools, Kindergartens, Special Development Centers etc educating children on our amazing Wildlife and how they can help protect these animals. She has a special 'Wildlife Demonstrators Permit' to be allowed to do this. My Wife has some enormous snakes, a huge Lace Monitor, and actually, Snap the Crocodile belongs to her.... When we met 10 years ago, she was deathly afraid of all reptiles, and believed that Bluetongues were poisonous etc. I used to take her into the WA wilderness and catch these snakes and lizards etc and show her how cool they really are, and how to enjoy them safely. I also was able to correct countless untruths she'd been taught about snakes etc from a young age. She's certainly done a full-circle, as these animals are a huge part of her life. I really don't know what I'd have done if she didn't grow to love them.... I doubt I'd have ever married her as it has always been a big part of my life.

I must take some new photos of him as he's a big, beautiful boy now! I have friends with pythons and that is pretty cool but whoa that is full on having a venomous snake as a pet! You just have to be responsible, and have rules. I have a number of 'reptile rooms' and the kids aren't allowed in the room with a venomous snake if I am going to have an enclosure open for feeding/cleaning etc. They know the rules.... if the door is closed they aren't allowed in. I don't think it's full on as such, I have a very cool collection including a Crocodile, lots of Snakes, Lizards, Dragons, Frogs, Turtles, Goannas large and small. But you wanna see what DOLer Snake Catcher has got.... he's right into the bitey stuff! I'll get there.... Things come slowly when you have a young family, and we must prioritize the money etc. It is am expensive hobby/passion, that's for sure!

  7. Glad things have settled a bit for you, and that the Snake hasn't returned to bother you again. :)
  8. It's fantastic to be having such a great Snake-related conversation on a dog forum. Doesn't happen often!
  9. Ideally, I would like 2 Bitches and one Dog. I have two people who have been wanting a pup from Tarni for nearly two years (and missed out on her last litter, she only had 5) so I would love to be able to send them home with the babies they have been waiting so long and patiently for. Also, I would very much like a Bitch this time around. So, 'three' would be just perfect, however I'm guessing there are more in there than three. I really don't think it is a very big litter though.
  10. You are not alone there Kirislin.... most people mis-identify snakes. I have people tell me they have a huge (HUGE!!) Brown Snake in their yard, only to find a 3' Copperhead Snake. The thing is, some snakes vary so much in color too.... where we live a Copperhead can a lovely red and orange color, or as dark as charcoal with a pale belly. To anyone inexperienced they would appear to be very different species of snake. I think this is one of the most important reasons why people should not try to catch/kill a snake themselves, because chances are they don't even know what it is! This is important in other states (other than Vic, Tas etc) where Pythons abound. Often completely harmless, beautiful snakes are hacked to death because someone "feared for their life", assuming it was a venomous snake.
  11. Here's a quick pic of Tarni I took last night. She has just been introduced to her whelping box. We were commenting last night how she really hardly looks pregnent.... maybe a little rotund. This morning we awoke to find she had exploded overnight and suddenly looks like a barrel on legs! I'm starting to get ecited now.
  12. That's disappointing bel.... hope you have better luck next time. They are good averages Dasha! :) I'll try to upload a pic of my girl I took last night. She has just been introduced to her whelping box. We were commenting last night how she really hardly looks pregnent.... maybe a little rotund. This morning we awoke to find she had exploded overnight and suddenly looks like a barrel on legs!
  13. She's not exactly fading away then.... :)
  14. dasha there are courses in snake handling/control. Some are great, while others.... I agree it is amazing how a snake can disappear like that.... they really are incredible. I have even 'lost' snakes in their enclosures! They can hide in such small spaces. The RBB's are a lovely snake. I have a pet one called Elmo and he's just beautiful. :) I agree about the Brown Snakes.... they do scare me a little, partly maybe because I've had very little chance to handle them and get to know them. We just get lots of Tigers and Copperheads out my way. The odd White-Lipped Snake which I enjoy coming across, although this is becoming less and less frequent.
  15. Same day us us here :) 'bel' have you got any news????? Hope all's well there...
  16. Yep! Absolutely! Just as you'd be expected to keep your dogs in to prevent IT interfering with ANY protected native animal. If a dog doesn't interfere with a snake, it is not going to be bitten. As stated already, it IS illegal to kill a snake unless it is posing an immediate danger to you. In the case in question, a beautiful Red-Bellied Black Snake was "hanging around" and had out-stayed it's welcome. Certainly no cause to kill it. I don't like being accused of being ill-informed, when snakes are my life.
  17. Must have been some myth I'd heard somewhere and was hoping for some fact behind it. I've found them in house roofs!
  18. Damn pic wont upload, but I have a pic on the last page HERE! He still has plenty of growing to do! :)
  19. I just picked up another big Goanna for Chantel to use in her Wildlife Incursions. Will post a pic later if you like. :) Nice pics on FB of tha Carnival, tlc. We took the kids the other night and they were saying "I hope that lady is here with her dog again!" It took us a bit to figure it out, but they were talking about you as you were there a couple of years ago with Cooper(?) and your camera, taking some pics. They don't forget a thing!
  20. I guess it depends how you look at it. I love finding them!
  21. Did you try 1300 REPTILE???? I know he will help. He is on duty.... I was chatting with him earlier.
  22. True. I keep RBB's and they are placid as puppies.... not that I recommend the OP try and handle it.... they will still put you on your a**e in hospital for a while!!!
  23. Not much. Just working. Melbourne tomorrow to pick up my newest 'pet'. Started getting ready for the impending hurricane that is a litter of Vizslas. Have squeezed the whelping box in between the snakes! Only a couple of weeks off now. Thank Dog it looks like it's gonna be a small litter at least. I just want one awesome little girl and I'll be happy. :)
