  1. Lamb livers... beef livers are HUGE! Unsure if they are frozen or fresh. They've never been frozen 'hard' though...
  2. Any DOLers doing these shows in January? Just remember entries close Christmas eve, so easy to forget getting them in!!!
  3. I thought that was a special price he gave just to me!!! ;) Maybe he gives that special price to all the crazy dog people in town!! Who, US??? Crazy????????????
  4. Yep thats where I usually go if I need a bag. I had a friend from Tassie sent me some over from thier local abs and they were great and cheap as, I think she only paid about 50 cents each for them. But then you have to take into consideration the postage. The price of pigs ears sucks! I used to get them for free from the KR/Castlemaine pig processing plant when I lived out that way. I just sun-dried them and they were great! I begrudge paying as much as $3 each for them, in some places.
  5. I thought that was a special price he gave just to me!!!
  6. TLC - Prime petfoods on Fairy street are the cheapest for pigs ears. Not DIRT cheap though... I think they are $7 for a bag of 5 ears, but they are a good size.
  7. La Famiglia have just opened a second store at Gateway if that's easier for you. Meat Barn do sell split marrow bones but they are the most expensive in town, I think! Norfolk Butchers do really good cheap split marrow bones.
  8. I don't feed out frames so I'm not sure. I've not seen them there pre-packaged so probably not. While they do sell necks, I have to order mine in each week in those quantities.
  9. Yep - if your dogs eat it you can't do much better than $1.99!!! Even 'pet mince' is dearer than that!
  10. I think it was just standard mince Pandii - heard the ad on the radio. Be worth giving them a call though just in case. Where's our nice sunny beach weather gone - would be nice to get some sunshine rather than just grey... I went in to Meat Barn today for my regular 25kg of Chicken Necks! The mince for $1.99p/kg was 'regular' grade, but looked particularly fatty to me..... ok for the dogs but not for me ( ).
  11. What a gorgeous dog! Love the scruffy ones!
  12. Well the last of my babies left me today on his aeroplane to Perth I popped in on another breeder on my way home from Tullamarine and nearly came home with another dog! This breeder is moving O/S next year and needs to rehome Vitasz (Tarni's Dad) and offered him to me. I was soooooo tempted to put him in the float and take him home there and then but thought Chan would KILL me if I went to Melbourne to send the pups on their way and came home with another dog!! But..... when I told her about it when I got home she said "why didn't you bring him home????" He is such a beautiful boy I just love him. He adores our kids and gets on great with all my dogs (I obviously really like him; he's sired my last two litters!!!). Just not sure now's the time. I have a few months to decide though, so will give it some thought. He's only 3yo so plenty of life in him yet. I'd love to take him and start showing him.... he's being wasted!
  13. Hey All! Tez - sounds great re: Eddie. Hope all works out for you all there. I'm surprised the RSPCA are willing to rehome a DA dog at all, but then again, with the absolutely stupid things the RSPCA are up to at the moment nothing would surprise me! I have always been a very good supporter of the RSPCA until now. They have always been our #1 charity but I've wiped my hands of them...... on every level. May as well be giving my money to PETA! Anyway, that's another story and didn't mean to go off-topic! TLC - hope you have a good day tomorrow and the weather holds out for you - anything could happen in Ballarat!!! Yes the puppies are all growd-up now. The first left us yesterday which brought on plenty of tears in our house last night - little Kallista had become a real family favourite.... such a beautiful, sweet girl. The next leaves us in the morning for a long drive to Sydney and I am off to the airport on Monday with a couple more. It's been lovely having so much time to spend with them all, and I don't think I've ever gotten this attatched to the pups before. Probably a long time before we have any more pups, although I have a LOT of people all over Oz requesting we repeat the mating of our "T" litter (Tarni's breeding), of which some are for show-homes and others for the field so I'm in two minds at the moment with that. Might just recover from this lot before I even think about doing it all again! Has been quiet on here lately - think everyone must be busy getting ready for !!!
  14. Unfortunately desexing is not an option as they plan to begin showing before long...
  15. I disagree. I think it does relate to hormone development, but not in a sexual tense. This behaviour needs to stop now. Remove access. Agreed - I don't think it's 'sexual' either. However, if the horse is removed from the equation, will his attentions turn to another item? and if so, what else could be done in such a case? Thanks for the thoughts so far, Guys!
  16. I suggested the same thing Erny, but I gather it is a favourite toy with the girls so is taken out alot. Any time he sees it, it begins.
  17. Hi All. I am after some advice for the owner of a pup I bred. Rez is an entire male Hungarian Vizsla of 7 months. He lives as part of a family - Mum, Dad, Twin 4 year old girls and the cat. He is a wonderful companion, extremely well mannered and soaring through classes at Mornington Obedience. Unfortunately, Rez has a little 'issue'..... I can only describe Rez' behaviour from what his owner tells me as I have not witnessed it myself, but it seems Rez has developed a love affair with the twins Rocking Horse . Rez has a ritual which he adheres to closely, where he will approach the toy horse, nuzzle its neck, lick its face, then go around behind and start licking beneath its tail as if it is a real animal! After much 'fore-play' Rez proceeds to mount the horse which becomes very vigorous - almost frenzied. This has been going on for some time and on a regular basis (daily) and he gets very 'put out' when the girls decide to ride the rocking horse - HIS horse! He will sulk and wander around in circles until they are finished on it. Another peculiar point I should note, is that these 'visits' to the horse are more frequent when his 'Dad' has his mates around for a boys night. Rez will slink off to visit the horse every time like clockwork when they are in the home and often more than once. Can anyone guide me with what to suggest to the owner? She has tried the usual distraction techniques but to no avail. Thanks in advance.....
  18. The Curly Coated Retriever is from the UK originally while the Murray River Curly was developed here. While the Murray Curly is not recognised as a pure breed, it has a large and very dedicated group of enthusiasts and a stud book has been kept for some years. They aim to achieve ANKC recognicion in the future. They are a wonderful breed and should they ever become recognised I will deffinately be giving one a home! RJ - the land sounds great - 7 acres. God imagine how many vizslas I could fit in 7 acres!!! Where abouts is it?? Hope it's outside of city limits to avoid the new dog regulations!
  19. Well done Tenties! A class like that is always hard as the "odd one out". You'll either come first or last, generally! Glad it was the former...
  20. I have two pair of Oster Golden A5 and love them. They have had MANY years in salon service and have NEVER let me down. They do run warm but not that its ever been a problem IMHO. Wouldn't be without my old Osters!
  21. Hi all! Just thought I'd pop back in here and see how all our October babies are coming along. Congratulations once again to everyone! Gee Ellz - Alice is a spunk! Here's a couple of pics of my "K" litter, now 6.5 weeks.
  22. Tenties - it could be worth you going through the Tenterfield Terrier Club to help rehome your guys. Most breed clubs have a rescue/rehousing sub-committee or similar. I'm sure they would have a list of screened homes waiting for mature dogs....
  23. I gather he had a good first day. The shop was very busy at times and I'm told at 11:00am you could barely move for people! He even had folk come from Portland today for a look...
