  1. I have a bitch who cycles every 4 months on the dot.... like clockwork. She has had two litters and nothing changed, except to say that bitches she has produced are 'normal' - ie, 6 monthly.
  2. No, not just show dogs, anyone who wants to socialise their dog in a controlled environment welcome. Just be aware - show training may interfere with peoples obedience training, ie; automatic sits need to be discouraged in show training. Nothing you need to bring besides appropriate collar/lead - whatever you would show your dogs on. Pandii you can borrow one of my retired girls if you like Yep - Harris St Reserve is the best location I think.
  3. SHOW TRAINING. OK, sorry for the delay with this but without my PC I couldn't do much. I have decided that weekends are no good. Those that DO show would find this difficult as shows are on the w/ends. Those I have spoken too are happy with a mid-week session but unfortunately that wont suit Cavalblaze who has young children. There is no way we are going to keep everyone happy I'm afraid. Hopefully Cavalblaze is able to make it to some of the sessions. So far there will be myself, Tenties I believe, RJ is still interested, Pandii to look & learn, TLC wishes to join us and take some pics, we have a GSD from Portland wishing to join in, possibly Donna with her young Vizsla and maybe her friend with a Boxer. And of course Cavalblaze too if she can make it. There may be others who read this thread (who don't post) who are interested too. They can email me at [email protected] and let me know. Assuming then that Wednesdays at 7:00pm are the go for summer months, when does everyone wish to begin? I would rather give Wed the 20th a miss as Chantel will still be in hospital, but would like a session in before the Warrnambool shows on the 30th & 31st, so how about the 27th?
  4. Hi All! Yep...JJ IS getting excited now. Chan goes in at 7am Friday and will go under the knife at 8:30am. Will post here as soon as I get back with news.... Sorry to all wanting to get on with show training, but not much I can do without my PC and only got it back today. I will have a read of recent posts and see what suits everyone and set a date and time to start. Obviously no day or time is going to suit everyone but will do my best....
  5. Good one Pandii! All you need now is that Pug....................
  6. BB I'd love to be able to offer you accom with us - but we have a baby due just before these shows and I don't think Mrs Jerojath would appreciate a rise in people and dog numbers for the weekend! Let me know if you have trouble finding somewhere and I'll try and help.
  7. As stated previously, I have a Norking float and it simply does not let any water in - even in heavy rain on the highway.
  8. Belinda my Norking Sportsman has no plywood inside - all metal. Mine also has 4 rotary ventilators (one per bay) to draw fresh air in through vents. I have driven long distances in driving rain and inside has always remained 100% dry.
  9. I haven't heard yet from Tenties or Donna, but seems Sundays are the preferred option for show training. Will look at it after Christmas and see what we can do. :D ;)
  10. Just wanted to come in and say ;) Munchin!!!
  11. Cavalblaze - will wait and see what suits the majority. I would be happy with Sundays to a point, but I think there would be too many Sundays where people couldn't make it (dog shows, family gatherings etc.) I've had some interest in the sessions from Portland, but will wait til I've heard back from a few here as to suitable day/time etc before I call them to confirm. RJ? Tenties? What suits you guys?
  12. OK, Show training.... We've been talking about it for some so I'm gonna get the ball rolling and head-up the classes. I think mid-week evenings would be best but am open to suggestions atm. So for now, let's say we meet at Harris St Reserve every Wednesday at 7:00pm. We can review training times as we lose daylight next year. We'll give the dogs a run for a few minutes in the cage and then start some training. Now I'm not an expert handling all breeds but obviously know about ring craft, etiquette, etc as well as the order of judging and the general workings of a show. I am not able to show everyone the finer points of presenting their particular breeds but at least we can work together and help eachother go over our dogs. Training them along-side other dogs is also beneficial. We'll just play it by ear I think and will probably end up more of a Q&A session which we can all be involved in. So, our first session will be on January 6th at 7:00pm @ Harris St Reserve. Remember to bring show leads and a table for breeds judged upon a table. RJ - probably best off with Boof I'd say. Cavalblaze - you up for some training? Anyone else? I'm seeing Donna James this week and will ask her. I'm sure she'd be up for it.
  13. Will be great to see you again, Tenties! (Yes I would really like to do some show training locally - was planned a while back but then RJ decided not to show her RB and I don't know of any other local showies who are interested. Maybe post in 'our' thread and see what sort of response we get? Cavalblaze may be interested in joining you. Yes I thought of her.... have posted in the Warrnambool thread so she'll find it. :D
  14. That's great. But if you had a show dog (say a Pug???????????????) it'd be better still!
  15. Just chatting with Tenties in another thread..... Linda needs to do some show-training with Fidget and God knows Tarni needs work! Is there ANYONE local who is interested? RJ - you deffinately not going to get Boof back in the ring? Any other 'visitors' to the thread who may like to join in? I'll ask Donna James if she's interested - I know she has a baby hitting the ring shortly .
  16. Will be great to see you again, Tenties! (Yes I would really like to do some show training locally - was planned a while back but then RJ decided not to show her RB and I don't know of any other local showies who are interested. Maybe post in 'our' thread and see what sort of response we get?
