I know someone with one. They are of American origin and originally developed as a shepherd, I think. They are not yet a recognized breed in the US and certainly not recognized here. My friend tells me they are better known as Leopard Dogs in Australia, although it is unsure if there are many pure Catahoula here as so many breed X's have been known to be marketed as Catahoula when in fact many are Koolie X's etc.

My local retailer sells this for $40.40 per 20 kilo. It is high fat (14%) but comes in a 'lite' (6.5%) formula too.

CEVA Logistics do it.

Good Luck! Can't wait for little flat coat puppy pics!

Cool. Have the same approach this time - first sign of trouble and off to the Vet! Maybe a DOLer would be prepared to give you their number to call for advice if she manages to whelp at home? You are welcome to have mine but I am a long distance call for you! PM me if you'd like it.

Thanks for the input. She will not eat Eukanuba Premium so is on Bonnie Working Dog for now. It seems to be the 'cheaper' makes of kibble have the higher fat contents. Someone else suggested Uncle Albers so will see if I can get that in my town.

GapVic - personally I wouldn't be contemplating sending ANY bitch to a stud until I had learned enough about the whelping process to be comfortable and confident when the day comes. Can you postpone the mating until next season and give yourself some more time to learn? Just doesn't sound like you are well enough prepared. There is a good chance she will not free whelp by the sounds. Maybe, if you can afford to, and your Vet is prepared to (again, big ask) have the Vet there from the word go to monitor her and show you the ropes as things progress. I would be very nervous having a first litter if I "didn't know what to do", including reviving flat puppies, knowing when the bitch is 'in trouble', generally assisting with the whelping. Not all bitches know what on earth to do - especially the first time 'round. We all have to learn some time, but maybe do some more learning, find yourself a mentor, obtain as much knowledge as you can etc before taking the next step and having a litter. I believe your confidence is a big factor. Hope things work out for you.

I have a 10 month old bitch in my care who eats well but is quite underweight. She is such an active girl and is 'wired' 24/7 - she NEVER stops! She eats enough that would make my other girls fat! I think it's just coz she is sooooo active. Any tips on what to feed her to bulk her up a bit? She is very healthy - just thin! Dry food is her favorite and she's not big on fresh meat at all. Which dry food is best for assisting with weight gain? Any advice appreciated!

She is looking VERY big if she still has a couple of weeks to go!

....just stumbled upon this thread. I love this one - It was taken without me knowing by DOLer 'tlc' and was a surprise email. Don't know why I like it so much - maybe just coz I remember the day well; cold, wet & windy but you forget all about that when there is an adoring vizsla gazing lovingly into your eyes!

I too am entered and really look forward to the competition... Jerojath, I shall pop on over and have a drink with you guys on the Saturday... I look forward to seeing many of you there! That's great Amadora! Are you staying the night? -
There is NOTHING reputable about Rivergum. They are puppy farmers no less. Suggest to your friend she watch some footage of puppy farms - plenty on youtube. People are often thinking they are buying safely due to flash websites which make proprietors LOOK responsible, but behind this cover is a very sad place and a sad life for breeding dogs and puppies alike.

That's fantastic!

Well waddya know...its Nanna Nike!!!! Isn't that one of your photos???? How did that come about??? ...and I believe the vizsla above Nanna Nike is Flynn - owned by DOLer FHRP from the ACT.

Yes it eill be a great weekend. I really don't care much for the showing, but was really looking forward to getting away 'camping' for the weekend. I am still going to get along on the Saturday and watch, and camp over the night so I can have a wee sip with some old friends! PS - Hope your caravan is ready! -
I was SOOOOO looking forward to this weekend - 5 shows in 3 days, but have MISSED THE ENTRIES!!!! I was only going to enter a minor so I guess it's no big deal. Still disappointed, though! Still, I'm going to go on the Saturday to catch up with some friends, camp the night (and have a little drink ) So who else is going?

Fingers crossed for all expecting March litters. BB, you can add me for around March 15 (Confirmed). Ta.

I think it really sucks for you, that you tried to do the right thing and deal with a registered breeder only to get screwed like this. It doesn't do much to help our cause, that's for sure! Unfortunately there is a world of difference between a Registered Breeder & a Reputable Registered Breeder. I'm glad you are still going to keep and love your dog just as much, and even WITH registration papers, it doesn't sound like you'd receive much breeder support anyway. So long as he is desexed, it really doesn't matter *that* much, I guess.

Love the Basenji in the African Themed Room! -
T&T - Pandii has a bit on her plate at the minute so we didn't get out for a walk. Will be sure to post on here when we decide to do the rail trail - hope you can make it!

Sounds good. I'll bring my lot down as long as there are no entire males - I've got TWO coming in season again! :D
