  1. I agree with ellz. I wouldn't hesitate to eat from the basket (but then Ive been known to share ice-creams with my dogs), however, my parents for example, would be near physically ill at such a suggestion!
  2. Glad you are in your new place Tenties!!! Great you are still online too! Hope everything calms down for you soon....
  3. Hope all has gone well for her, especially after all the dramas, but I'm thinking she may not have internet access for a little while.
  4. Not so much the tail docking issue as it has been done prior to this date. Interested if its cruel to transport a dog that just given birth to 8 pups and had surgury 3-4 days travel back to vic in summer temperatures? I, sure as hell, wouldn't do it!
  5. As a vet nurse, I have assisted in hundreds of euths and never had a problem doing so, and have always been present during those of my own dogs, but some years ago I assisted the Vet (my employer) in euthing my old boy and it was the hardest thing I've ever done. Still to this day I regret not just being there to pat him and whisper in his ear.....
  6. ]I have been told that the rubber-backed Vet Bed generates a LOT of heat (ie; too much for pups) once the rubber gets wet beneath. I always place multiple layers of newspaper under the vet bed as I've been told this prevents the problem. Anyone found this to be the case?
  7. Jerojath Tanybryn at 4 weeks 3 days....
  8. T&T - glad you're recovering well. I get my surgery date next Monday...... :D Thanks - that Bubba is Jasmine... our #3 of 4. She is two years and has taken huge interest in this litter as opposed to not giving a stuff about the last litter 5 months ago. She watched the delivery, "helps" feed and clean etc, hope it keeps up!
  9. Thought I'd post some pics of my 4 week old babies....
  10. Cheers, I might just do that. Thanks. I found photoshop.com and created an account, but found the editing capabilities to be very basic. I need to add an entirely new background to a couple of pics but can't find a way to do it. Will pop in to the photo thread later.....
  11. Hey do any of you Guys have PhotoShop or similar and could work a couple of pics for me? Alternatively, can someone tell me about the software? Can it be downloaded or does it have to be purchased? Easy to use? Anything better than PhotoShop available?
  12. Pandii? Is that you?? Where you been???
  13. If you can't get any formula for the pups, I'd be getting some goats milk REAL quick. Most supermarkets have it and it will help see them through.... I 2nd the cabbage leaves technique.... works a treat!
  14. I haven't been in here fo ages and Gosh! Look at all these beautiful March Babies! Here are a couple of pics of the Jerojath babies at 4 weeks....
  15. Great stuff, Tenties!!! But, have you tried Currans Removals at Alansford? I have moved around these parts numerous times and they beat Ryans on price every time. They do a great job and I've never had to pay them before the job was done.
  16. tlc - Yes you're right. Boarding the dogs without a vaccination card is an issue, and I don't think a titre test would cut the mustard for most kennel operators. However, I would rarely need to board the dogs as when we go away it is usually camping and all the girls come along. I did have to board them when we returned to Warrnambool a couple of years ago as we had to build the kennels/pens whatever before we could bring the dogs home, and I had to have them vaccinated again at that time. I guess due to some unforeseen circumstances they would have to be done annually, but thems the breaks!
  17. Linda that is really wonderful news. You must be thrilled. Congratulations!
  18. Jess - I don't know that they do at Wollaston as I haven't had titre tests done since moving back to these parts. I vaccinate bi-annually so have never seen much benefit in the tests.
  19. tlc, that's debatable. Vets will tell you that vaccinated dogs are completely protected against Parvo, yet there are many recorded cases of vaccinated dogs contracting the virus, albeit on a lesser scale. If you are like me and don't like annual vaccinations, then you need to have a titre test done by your Vet to ensure there are sufficient antibodies present within the system. If you DO vaccinate annually, there is not TOO much to worry about, except that a Vaccinated dog can transmit Parvovirus to unvaccinated dogs, as can any other contact, such as the bottom of your shoes!
  20. 8 counts of Parvo reported in Warrnambool on 'disease watchdog'. Only the locations come up so we can't clarify if this is part of the pound or clinic, could be one litter or eight separate accounts. Yes I've heard Parvo is about..... It's a real concern as I've got 4 week old babies here! It's not even safe taking them to the clinic for any work when we can't find out 'where' exactly! Hope everyone's dogs are vaccinated and we all take precautions. I avoid ANYWHERE where dogs congregate in numbers - I think an out-of-town beach is the safest option.... I was hoping to take Lele in to Wollaston Clinic at the end of the month for a pregnancy ultrasound. Debating if it's a good idea. Guess I can ring up and ask if there has been any cases presented to that clinic. I have been in there today and they tell me they have not seen it recently. Also, they are very safe at that clinic and cross-contamination on premise is highly unlikely (only clinic here I would EVER use!). However, if you don't really need to U/S, I would leave it go if you have any concerns.
  21. When you are taking a dog on for the entirety of its life, it must be a dog who can fit in with your lifestyle and you with his, in order for you both to be happy together for many years. I feel it would be selfish to NOT buy the dog you see suits your requirements best, and if that happens to be a pedigree dog from a reputable, registered breeder then so be it! Don't let anybody persuade you otherwise.

  23. I find it is literally a full-time job dealing with prospective puppy buyers. While we deal with inquiries all year long, they come in thick and fast when we have a litter planned. Between emails, phone calls and meeting interested parties it is very stressful & demanding 'work'. I agree that most prospective buyers are easy to deal with, some, as you say, just expect to get a puppy, and after their first initial inquiry ask "when can we pick him up?". I did find that after launching a website that we had an increased ratio of these callers; probably because we were suddenly easy to find(?). We have since removed our website and now enjoy more dedicated/sincere inquiries. These are the people who *really* do their research into breeders and the breed, and not just EXPECT a puppy from the first thing that pops up on Google.
