  1. Think I've got 3 that I no longer need... I'll check and let you know.
  2. You are welcome to grab it/them anytime Tenties and fix me up at a later date.
  3. SOLD!! To the lovely lady with the terriers. Nup. No hurry. May have more here at that price if you need them. All in supper condition.
  4. FOR SALE! Airline Approved PP40 Dog Crate Plastic model in classic blue & white colours Suit Small to Medium breeds. Used once to take pup to Vet around the corner. $40.00. Will ebay if nobody local needs one.
  5. I wasn't aware the MPW was restricted to ANKC recognized breeds! Actually, looking again at these pics, I can see more pure breeds than X breeds. German Shorthair Pointers, Maremma, Golden Retrievers, Rhodesian Ridgeback, Cocker Spaniels, Airedale Terriers, Tenterfield Terrier, Australian Cattle Dog, English Mastiff, Labrador Retriever, Flat Coated Retriever, Border Collie, (and what could possibly even be a Leonberger??? - Surely Not!) That's a LOT of pure-bred dogs! I'm sure there were many others there too! Looks like a great day!
  6. THAT"S exactly what I was TRYING to say!
  7. I have advertised a litter in the TP and see nothing wrong with it. It is up to the buyer to decide if they are happy with the breeder who's ad they are responding to, as it is the breeders responsibility to thoroughly screen all interested procurers. Advertising only in pure-bred advertising media restricts you to people who are already 'in the know'. What about the Joe Publics who have decided that they want to do the right thing and buy a pure breed from a reputable/responsible breeder? Where would they find you if they've not heard of the ANKC? Everyone has to start somewhere and its OUR responsibility as breeders to ensure they go to the best of homes. Only thing I find is that there are MORE people responding to the ads who do not meet my criteria than had I advertised elsewhere.
  8. Tenties - I actually thought of stopping to see you on the way home as I saw your car there but was pushed for time as I had a birthday dinner to get to as soon as I got home. Yes have council approval and Vitasz will be staying here unless I am not happy with him over the next few weeks. Sounds harsh, but I don't have the space for a whole lot of 2nd rate dogs who can't be shown (I've already got a couple of them!!!). It's pronounced Vie (like 'pie') Tarsh. Vie-Tarsh. Named after his Sire who he resembles very much. Glad the MPW went well - Look forward to some pics. tlc - you have as many dogs as me! Soon you'll be hunting for a dog trailer to keep that new car clean!
  9. Stef 83.... If I never got letters, photos, stories, XMas cards etc from my puppies I probably would never breed again! In fact, I almost make it a condition of sale that the new owners keep us up to date and send lots of pics and I ALWAYS respond and choose a pic to add to my website. It does take a lot of time though, when you have lots of pups all over the country it can make for a lot of emails to respond too! Maybe your breeder just hasn't got around to replying yet. Surely she appreciates the update.
  10. A day of mixed emotions for me yesterday (as it always is) as I said goodbye to the latest Jerojath babies. Up at 4:00am bound for Tullamarine where I loaded them on to their respective Jets as they head off to various locations around Australia to start new lives with doting new families. I never have trouble saying goodbye when I am handing them straight to the new owners, but there is something very impersonal about crating them up and loading them onto a plane. It almost feels very "business-like" which I hate. There isn't the oportunity to see the joy on the new families face or the excitement from the puppy at getting pats from someone new... It was nice on my way home though to get phone calls from everyone to tell me they had collected their new red babies and were thrilled. Also got lots of calls last night telling me all about their puppies.... "He can do this".... "She can do that".... It's hard to not just say: "Yes I know! He's been living here until this morning, remember?"... MY little man Vitasz was very sad last night having lost ALL his brothers and sisters in one foul swoop. At least he has his Mum, big Sister and Auntie Amy to look after him. I'll have to try and get out on a walk with him soon so you can meet him! ETA - I'm heading off now, so enjoy the Million Paws Walk.
  11. Lookin' Good, TLC! VERY nice dog-mobile. It does look green-ish in some of those pics!
  12. Congrats tez - VERY cute. Good luck! New car tlc? What happened to the purple-people-eater? Still no pics??? :D
  13. Lovely post, kendall. Eagerly lurking and waiting for an update on Jane.....
  14. Nope. I don't like that at all either.
  15. tlc - AFAIK PGD doesn't sell eagle pack. They do have some great food though, such as EVO & Innova etc... I will not be doing the walk. I'll be out of town both days on the weekend. Have fun though!
  16. RJ - Congratulations on your new place!!! RE: containment systems.... I have heard many VERY contradicting opinions. Maybe post a topic in General?
  17. Jess - great news regarding the Rottie. Good to hear that the breeder has accepted responsibility for their own. It doesn't always happen. I don't go to Pet Stock - mainly because they are so rude! I did go in the other day because I needed some live food for my frogs and my brother had run out. Yes they have all of a sudden decided to do something with their dismal aquarium section. It started as soon as my brother opened his shop. Luckily they are not much competition for him. As he is a dedicated aquarium he is able to undercut their prices everytime. They do stock some 'el cheapo crap though, that Tristan wont even stock. He is doing very well there actually - much better than predicted! Jess - you are very welcome to borrow my dog trailer to get her to Melbourne. Plenty big enough for a Rottie and nothing for her to damage etc.... Edited to add - I am using the trailer on Saturday (can't be avoided I'm afraid) but could drop it off at your place after that. Let me know.....
  18. Sounds like a horrible situation. Hope something can be sorted out with the dog to relieve some pressure....
  19. I really don't think it's the place for a 3rd party to intervene. The Club is there for that.
  20. Jess I'm afraid I can't be of much assistance, but can say one needs to be very careful taking on a Rottie from "working lines". A big dog with such high drive is not for the inexperienced dog owner, especially when the dogs start has apparently lacked training and discipline etc. I would think the Rottweiler Club may be the best place to seek help should the breeder not be supportive. ETA - I LOVE Camperdown. Could quite happily live there.....
  21. Me too. I've used it for years and never had a problem. Cheap, easy, effective,
  22. tlc - I love listening to frogs at night. Mine are also known as Whistling Tree Frogs. They do call when in captivity so long as they are content. They are very small frogs - 25mm - 45mm, they are brown but vary a lot in colour and do change to suit their surrounds. They can vary from chocolate brown to pale cream. I'll see if I can post a linky where you can hear them calling.... LINKY!!
  23. I think Best Friends is Geelongs best pet store - I was there today too! While it appears very 'commercial', they keep the place spotless and their animal husbandry standards are wonderful. They have plenty of staff and most seem quite knowledgeable. They have an on-site Veterinary Clinic & Grooming Salon too. I have been told (by someone in the industry) that they clean all animal displays (besides fish) EVERY hour! They always have something interesting to see too.... today thay had some Mudskippers which were great fun to watch! There are some great stores in Melbourne - think I've been to all the really good ones. I love visiting Aquarium stores too - Bayswater Aquarium is great in Melbourne as is nearby Boronia Aquarium. Today I went to an amphibian breeder today and came home with seven beautiful Southern Brown Tree Frogs. They have settled in well tonight and are busy exploring their new home and searching for crickets.... Tenties - went by your place today... at least I'm sure it was your car at a house West of Mckinnon Bridge. Looks Great! Hope your settling in ok. Edited to add - The guy that owns Best Friends used to work for Pet Goods Direct when it was in its infancy, as an advisor etc. I'm told that the owner of Pet Goods Direct thought all his ideas were stupid and that they'd never work, so this guy quit and opened up Best Friends just around the corner from Pet Goods Direct! I'm glad he did.
