Well, night all! I'm off to the circus......
-
Lookin' good, Cooper! I think those beds are good value... I'm going to get some for the dog trailer on the weekend. RJ the wedding is in the Gardens so anyone is free to have a squizz. I wont be dressed up though - flanny shirt and pair of stubbies . RJ - looking forward to the opening of our new local tracking facility!

Yeah the place was packed - too busy to really have a good browse around actually. Today was their grand opening. I'll go back for a better look soon.

I was just out at the new Cheap As Chips store (Opposite Barbs' Big Green Shed) and thought I'd let you know it's worth having a look for 'dog stuff'. They have all the usual "discounty" type stuff like some other stores, but they have a great range. HEAPS of cat scratching thingies for those of you with cats as well as some really great dog beds with zip-off washable covers. ($15-$25). Barb they also had walking harnesses for $7!!!! Obviously they wouldn't be wonderful, but for anyone wanting a harness just for the tracking workshop it'd be worth a look. Pretty good for kitchen /garden/auto stuff too. My Mrs was impressed by a BIG range of silicone bake-ware which was cheap (as chips).

Hey Tanya, you still looking for a second doggy, how cute would Bruno be with a little cavvy for a companion! I think those lil Cavs would get stuck between Bruno's teeth!
-
Glad you are keeping something, Cav! Makes having a litter rather pointless if you don't. ETA - Don't worry too much about a small amount of white on a chest or foot.... nothing a bit of boot polish wont fix.
-
Linda - Great news with the RUBISS from a Mintypark bitch. Congratulations! tez - Yeah I will get down with my baby I think. He will enjoy a day out and I am happy to help while tracks are laid. Ik I'll look out for you.... fat dog, odd socks, less than stylish harness... I'm sure I'll find you amongst the crowd! Cav they are looking really well. And yes, are you keeping one????????

Back to tracking.... I have been getting some advice from some Vizsla folk who are well experienced in the world of tracking, and they are suggesting doing any training in tracking, even in a fun 'workshop' situation, could confuse my dogs who are trained for the field, and could make training for either endeavor more difficult. I considered taking Vitasz along but again, was recommended I don't, if I have plans on working him in the field later. This is something I hadn't even considered when deciding to attend the tracking day and as these people are more knowledgeable than I in regards to tracking, I think I may give it a miss this time at least. I would still like to come and watch from the gallery if no-one minds...

Worth every cent, so long as it has purrdy colours!

That would be me. There is a tracking day on the 27th June at Hawksdale, being run by the lady who runs modern dog training. I am pretty sure it is open to anyone, but if anyone is interested I can find out for sure. It is a 9am start and a BYO meat and salad to share for a BBQ lunch it should be a good day. Oooh! Oooh! Oooh! Details of tracking day PLEEEEAASSSEEE! I have been thinking about putting Belle through her paces, now that she has finished her motherly duties forever!

Hmmmmm, staff discounts would send us broke, with what I seem to be spending on the dogs lately!

I lost 5 from 10 in this way a few years ago. We lost two in the manner you speak of so took entire litter to the Vet. After a THOROUGH examination of remaining pups, Vet said they are all in good health and doing well. Over the next week we lost another 3. Fine and feeding one minute and dead the next. No explanation for it and awfully upsetting. Different to fading puppies as there is no gradual decline, no crying, no refusing to feed etc. I had an autopsy performed on the last two that died and there was absolutely nothing obvious. They even had full tummies when they died. I was so devastated I had decided then to never ever breed again. It was some years later that I eventually did. Just don't beat yourself up over it. I had done everything right as I am sure you have. ETA - Cockerlover, good thought RE toxic milk. Worth having checked. Wasn't the case with my bitch. Also, may or may not be related, but 3 of the surviving pups matured with numerous health concerns - all very different concerns, but all very difficult to diagnose and treat. I have bred along these lines since and have had absolutely NO problems again at all.

Yes I CAN see how. Maybe 5 wouldn't be so hard after all............

I am fed up of having crappy pet stores in this town. I wish someone would open up a great store out at Bayside Plaza. If I was cashed up I'd do it, coz everyone only shops at the stores we have because there is nothing better! tlc - nope, never put in the permit for 5 as was told as long as #5 wasn't a permanent fixture here it's not worth doing. They are aware she is just here for rehoming. Of course, if she DID decide she wanted to stay, then I'd have to submit the application. If you have a permit for your 4, I don't see there'd be a problem. Before you go silly and buy another dog though, I do have to say that I find the fifth dog to really increase the load on me. A bit like how everyone says "you'll really notice having 3 kids after the 2!". Each dog has been "just one more" but with the fifth I REALLY notice things like my feeding bill, poop-patrol, vet costs, and is a bit difficult taking them all out at once. Admittedly one is a puppy, but he's pretty good. I have been avoiding on-leash walks and just been taking them all bush! RE: Premium pet foods, I am a breeder club member with Eukanuba and get it delivered roughly monthly, maybe other companies do something similar with the brands you guys use? If I run out before it arrives I just grab a bag of Euk or Bonnie from Fairy Street. Jess - Didn't see you at Killarney. I thought about posting in case anyone wanted to meet up but the Mrs wouldn't get off the computer! Obviously has been quite rough seas - LOTS of sea-weed up my end and the tide was very high. tlc - doubt you'd find a tr harness around here. I wouldn't have thought $40 was excessive for one though.

It's often impossible for a buyer to know the difference between a scammer and a genuine seller. I have sold puppies interstate having only spoken to buyers over the phone/email and requested bank deposits for payment. For all they knew I was a scammer too!

Just got back from a lovely walk at Killarney. Not a soul around. A beautiful morning for a walk - cool and crisp. AND the rain held off until just after I'd left! Lots of wallaby's, birds and rabbits behind the dunes and great to not have to worry about the snakes. Lilly had a blast - only the second time she's been to a beach and she was a lot more confident today... running with the pack and swimming in the waves. She's worn-out after chasing all them rabbits too! What's everyone else been up to this morning? Although I'm sure most of you were training at Brierly. Edit to add - The Basin Track in and out is awful at the moment... worst I've seen it. All the rain we've had as well as so many people speeding along it has caused bad corrugations and huge mud-puddles.
-
Easy mistake to make, as she may become extinct too, if you don't get some weight off her!
-
She's really lovely tlc but it wouldn't be ideal that I keep her. I have had communique with the NSW vizsla club which has an excellent rehoming/rescue committee and they have a few 'suitable' homes waiting for a vizsla in need. Nothing perfect though, but they will keep me posted on available homes. Lilly's litter-brother Ollie lives north of Horsham on a 7000 acre wheat farm and they are very interested in her. They are on the waiting list for a pup from our next litter (18 months away) but love the idea of having Ollie's sister move in. There are lots of things to consider before sealing the deal, and they are going to meet her tomorrow or Monday so we'll see what happens. That is Lilly in my avatar when she was 6 weeks old (maybe a little younger). She's VERY cute!

Tez don't you mean a Tassie Tiger? THEY had (have) stripes!

Geez Louise Lind! Does it ever end for you? Can't believe the dramas you are having over your car. Unfortunately I have nothing to offer as far as advice goes, but hope you are able to get it sorted out soon. Let us know if we are able to help in some way.

1080 signs meaning poison bait. Yep they are doing a massive fox baiting program exspecially over Tower Hill way. Puppies are thriving, huge size difference though. 360grms the biggest - 195 the blk/tan. 1 week old, so cute you could sit and watch them all day. Great news Cav!
