Geez! A bloke goes away for a few days and comes back to 30,000 pages to catch-up on! Way too much to comment on anyway! We're all moved in and loving having some more space. Valentines day? I won't be doing much.... gotta save my $$$ for the REPTILE EXPO next Saturday!!! Really wanna come home with a few new snakes..... won't that cause a kerfuffle on the train home? But.... the only REALLY important thing I have been sifting through these pages for, I am having trouble finding. Did Tenties finally spill the beans on what she bought herself for Christmas??? It's doing my head in Tenties!!! And where has Lizzy1 got too? LLLLLLLLLIIIIIIIZZZZZZZZZZZZZYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!! Also, you Guys will have to tell me if there is anything really interesting on DOL I've missed while I was away, so I don't have to go trawling!

Yes tlc drinking and dog showing DO seem to go hand in hand.... I remember years ago when there was a really good crew showing Vizslas, we all used to turn up with the most beautiful food to share as well as a heap of grog! We'd start on the Champers at 9am, then hit the beers when the Canteen/Bar opened, and move on to the spirits (actually that may have only been me ) There were times I would show the dogs so drunk I couldn't run a straight line, let alone care if I won or not! It was all just great fun in those days. Jess it was a warm day to be moving, but glad we got the bulk of it done today as tomorrow is supposed to be 36deg! The worst move I have made was from Kalgoorlie to Warrnambool (Via Perth ). We had a Pajero loaded to the max, the roof rack was piled high too, and we'd bought a huge enclosed trailer for the trip which was well and truly over-loaded, plus we had a roof rack on the trailer which was stacked high. To make things worse, we had a 4 month old baby in the car for the long trip, as well as the wife who was 2 months pregnant and sick as a dog!!! We blew the transmission up in the middle of bloody nowhere and had to (eventually) get towed to Ceduna where we spent 4 days waiting for repairs. Once complete, we loaded her up again and headed off, only to find the new (reco) transmission was nearly as bad as the last! Dunno how it got us over here but she kept going for another year or two after that, whining all the while . NEVER want to go through THAT again! tlc I think Donna would have showen little Hunter today, but don't think she did any good as I saw she was home by lunch time. I'll catch up with her tomorrow.

Where did JJ get to? JJ was moving house (well, most of it!) We borrowed a van, and loaded our 4WD up too, as well as the trailer, and made 4 trips to the new place. So that's 8 vans and 4 trailer loads! PLUS I have been dismantling the dog runs, puppy sheds and puppy runs, smashing up the concrete slab and carting it out piece by piece to the trailer which then had to be dumped at the tip. Tomorrow we have to move all the dog runs to the new place and start putting them up, as well as move the shed and puppy runs there. No hurry putting them up though... Then I will be working like a bastard trying to fix the back yard up to it's former glory! Monday morning the moving van arrives and we can move in proper like. I HATE moving! Were just trying to save some $$$ by doing most of it ourselves (That means more $$$$$ to spend at the Reptile Expo in February! ) Glad you all were able to get together today... and such lovely weather for it too. In fact, I reckon I could have *almost* enjoyed a Dog Show today! Hope you were all thinking of me while you supped upon your chilled champagne.....

Geez I dunno why they wouldn't allow you to set up Tenties... I drove past early Thursday morning and there were plenty of people there setting up 'camp' already! Gazebos and all! Still planning on a visit. Wont be able to stop for lunch but gonna try and get there to say 'Hi'.

Don't Know How Vets And Vet Nurses Do It
jerojath replied to jr_inoz's topic in General Dog Discussion
I nursed at an outer-Melbourne clinic for some time. Of course, we had the usual euthanasia to carry out, but I dreaded every second Friday. The practice owner also owned the pound contracted to the shire, and every second Friday the ute and trailer would pull-up behind the clinic and it would begin...... again. All the dogs of all shapes and sizes would be led in and caged, then one by one in a constant stream they would be brought into the treatment room and killed. This was usually done in the brief period between consults and surgery so there was little time. Certainly no time to be compassionate, to give them "one last cuddle" or scruff of the ears..... they would be put on the table, shaved and injected as quick as we could do it. Then they were placed immediately on the floor where we would ensure the job was done with a stethoscope while the next dog was being prepped on the treatment table. One after another. Over time I think I 'hardened' to it all, and probably still am a little 'cold' with such things, but I'll never forget the day I completely snapped as I felt like a murderer instead of a nurse. They stuck me back in the grooming room for a few weeks to 'calm down'. I quit soon after and didn't nurse again for many years. -
Still 'on the air' here. Tanya I agree with Cramet... absolutely most positively definitely report it. A real plus that you have their address! Like Jess' issue recently.... it's these few people that ruin things for the rest of us!!!

Glad y'all had a nice time lunching! Wasn't the weather spot-on for a public holiday? Anyway... may be off the air for a few days while we move. Dunno how soon we'll have internet at the new place. Also depends when Chan is gonna pack the PC at this end....

We're not ALL crazy dog ladies!

I'd love to come along but we have plans already... We're getting together with some friends for a BBQ and drinks at our new house, even though we don't move until the weekend! The BBQ is there already so that's all we need.... esky's and ice etc. Would love to have all the local DOLers over for a BBQ soon too.... we have a fantastic outdoors entertaining area fully roofed, and you know dogs are welcome in our house! Have fun tomorrow.... hope the rain holds off for your lunch. Supposed to be clearing up ok. I would have been happy to meet Jess too, at long last! Maybe next time... Happy Australia day for tomorrow!

Food at Simons is very good, and their tap beer is also spot-on. The new Pavilion Cafe, however, is the absolute pits. Highway-robbery prices and very ordinary food!

There's always the Sunday show :D
-
9:00am I'd guess.... finish time varies, but maybe 3 or 4 pm?
-
SOLD! To the lovely lady in the NEW PURPLE HAT!!! :D PM me your Mums address and I'll drop it in her mail box. (My PM's are working again now!)
-
Do any of you guys want some cat food? I have 7 small tins of "Home Brand" cat food here. They are probably individual serve size??? Anyhoo, seems my lizards wont eat generically branded cat foods and will only consume 'brand name' stuff. Bastards. Happy to drop it in to anyone wanting it... we're packing the house and it WILL be thrown out!
-
RJ I will call in when you have a beer fridge plugged in! :D

Good stuff re the agility Jess. Sounds like Zee is gonna be a star! Jess ther is normally just the one show supply van at Warrnambool... couldn't tell you if they would carry gazebo gear or not. RuralPug... good luck re the road from Ballarat! Was pretty crook the other day!

tlc Pea Soup is a beach just out of Port Fairy. That's the beach we always take the kids to these days. We really don't like any of the beaches here in town, so normally go to Killarney where dogs are allowed, or to pea soup. It is a fantastic beach, very enclosed and well protected. Lots of rock pools at one end and nice clean sand, shallow water and there are NO waves! It's more like swimming in a lovely clear lake as the water is so still. Wouldn't suit everyone for this reason, no good for older kids who want to boogie-board etc but great for my littlies! ONLY problem is dogs are not allowed there

X 2!

Would love to make it for the show, and for dinner later. Just can't do it as we move house that weekend. May make it for dinner, but if reservations are required you'd best count me out as I just don't know. Where is dinner? Will try and pop in to the show even if it's just for the Vizsla results! Last year Donna was the only Vizsla entry so could be the same again. Good tactic RJ! We shall simply ignore Tenties until she can keep it secret no longer! Took the kids to Pea Soup today... absolutely perfect day for a swim they all had a ball! Even little Jemma :D What a sen-bloody-sational day it has been! Hope the rest of the week is the same... got lots to do in the backyard before we move! What did everyone else do in the sunshine? RJ your house is coming along nicely now, you must be getting excited! Your new car looks very nice parked beside it too!
-
:D you don't know me at all, do you! Yeah, so, anyway..... are you gonna fill us in?
-
Hmmmmmm, Let me see.... A new gas cylinder? A new gazebo? Some swish new camping chairs? A lovely purple hat? A new show trolley? 500g topside mince? A new lap-top? Some frozen sperm? A delightful new frock? A boob job? Sheesh, help me out here!

What's the story, Jess? Toughened restrictions in the area? This city is making it harder and harder to keep dogs as it is!
-
Well Tenties it is now "tomorrow"... ...so SPILL!
