  1. Yeah let's just forget about it, and I will post pics of the bubbas when she is good and ready to have them.
  2. No, and not only that, the rotten thing has started eating again! Poor thing looks so uncomfortable, you'd think she'd push them out now, cooked or not!
  3. I reckon Vizslas rank pretty high on the cuteness stakes!
  4. No, nothing yet. I'm thinking it is a really big clutch making her so big and uncomfortable and she may not be as close to birthing as I'd thought. Poor thing will be glad to finally get them out though!
  5. Hmmm, I knew it had been a while... Hope "Terrific Tez" & "Luscious Lizzy1" are ok.
  6. Now she's just making me cross! Here she is messing with me, while living it up in the lap of luxury..... ...might stick her out in this rain. That'd teach her! ;)
  7. ...and no, no babies yet. I can't sleep, I'm like an expectant father (again!). Big day at work tomorrow too. Just to mess with me, I'll bet she has them as soon as I leave the house tomorrow.
  8. Monah beautiful Albino there! ($$$$$$ ) What does Monah think of THAT snake? Yeah is that the NRL on the tele? Might want to switch to the AFL if you wanna be an honorary local! Thanks for the pic.... good to see you again.
  9. scary actually, unbrushed hair, naked face, $2 tshirt... my usual look!!! Pah! We've seen it all before!
  10. Not yet, but a 'lizard expert' friend says she's very close! But then, lizards have made a liar out of me before. Like I told Chantel..... "A watched lizard never births".
  11. Yep, some species are as venomous as adults, from the day they hatch. Gotta be careful killing snakes these days.... they are protected. There is a 'gray area' which suggests that if the snake is an immediate threat to your safety, it may be killed, but the DSE/National Parks would sure give you a hard time proving it! These days you are best not telling anyone if you kill a snake, I think. *PS.... $20 was CHEAP!!!
  12. tlc MOST snakes lay eggs, but there are some who birth live young, as in the Death Adders. Snakes are very nurturing in the sense that they must incubate the eggs themselves. Many species will wrap themselves around the clutch of eggs and 'shiver', to generate body heat and warm the eggs. They will remain coiled around the clutch for months.... no food or water, until they hatch. Once hatched, the snakes are on their own and will head off in search of shelter, and will start feeding after their first skin-shed at about 2 weeks of age. I know most people dislike snakes, but they are very interesting animals, and are challenging to keep & breed.
  13. I wish I had Tiger snakes nesting at my place (sort of!). I love the Red Bellied Black Snakes they are my absolute favorite, but very hard to find legal 'on-license' captive bred ones. I'm still looking! Yeah I read in the Vizsla thread about Monah finding one... it is quite scary. My problem is that as we have pet snakes moving freely around the house at times, that the dogs will either become so used to them that they will ignore them in the bush, or the complete opposite, and they will approach them with interest. We have lots of snakes around here Monah. Basically everywhere we are 'allowed' to run our dogs, there are snakes. Eastern Browns, RBB's, Tigers, Copperheads etc. We have a lot of White Lipped Snakes around here too, but they are not of too much concern as are only 'mildly' venomous.
  14. No nothing yet. She has very labored breathing so wouldn't think they are too far away. She will go straight back outside when she's done. She wont give them a second thought... no maternal instincts with these lizards.
  15. Hi Tenties! ;) They are live-born, any number between three and nine, for this species, and are about the size of your index finger. Their Mum wont care for them at all, and have been known to eat the babies as she will be starving after she births them and they will be looking mighty tasty to her, running around! Lizards are very sensitive of movement when hungry.... if it moves, it's food! Usually though, they are so exhausted that the little 'uns have time to clear off. Still no action here yet. Contractions have stopped and she's gone to sleep!
  16. Excitement here tonight.... We've moved Nadia indoors out of the rain into the 'Nursery' as we think she may birth tonight. We call her Nadia because Octo-Lizard didn't sound so good.
  17. Killarney was lovely... perfect day for a walk on the beach. It was a 'snakey' day wasn't it? We went bush walking in the forest near Cobden and came across a number of Tiger Snakes... one was a big surprise and Chantel spotted him right there amongst the kids! The kids are very 'snake aware' and don't panic, thank God. I calmly (sort of!) said, "Hey Kids there is a snake right there next to you, so quietly walk straight here to me please!" The kids did exactly that and once they were a safe distance, we were able to enjoy seeing him slither about. He wasn't bothered by us at all! Big bugger though, glad he wasn't in a 'mood'.
  18. We've lost a few over the last few months. One got a cold and died while the others were of old age. The new one is a blotched female we need for future breeding. Hard to find one 'legal'. Would love to catch up tlc but I am heading to Killarney as we haven't been there for ages. The kids wanna come along too. Have a nice day all, whatever you do. Looks like it's gonna be another ripper!
  19. We went to Mount Gambier to collect a new Bluetongue Lizard. :D (Edited coz I wrote Melbourne! )
  20. Tenties I just realized you share your birthday with my last litter of Vizslas, the "T2" litter.... Happy birthday today to Thalia, Tarneit, Trawalla, Tanybryn, Taminick & Tinamba.
  21. That's interesting Jess, thanks. But they'd wanna be bloody nice dragons in an awesome enclosure for $1000!
