Gary (The Owner) has been trying to sell that particular store for ages as it's not paying its way. My brother was the former manager and reckons Gary never paid the bills so no stock will be delivered. At the moment there are hardly any fish in the place because they haven't paid their last few invoices for Aquarium Industries. Thing is, it's not like he can't afford to pay them he just doesn't care about his PGD stores as much as he does his Pets Paradise outlets.... and it shows. The staff at PGD are instructed to tell inquiring customers that they are experiencing "delivery problems", hence the lack of stock. They haven't been able to sell any reptiles for over a year, as the license fees had not been paid yet they continued to trade... and got caught doing so. The whole business is a joke. How do you "forget to pay" a license fee when you have a CHAIN of stores relying on it? Edited to add: I can't see things improving there in the near future... the current Manager is leaving soon to have a baby and no-one else there has any clue!

Very excited here as Tarni comes home tomorrow... she is on her way now. I had a call earlier from the Pet Transport Co. who asked if I would mind if Tarni traveled in the car with them rather than in the trailer with all the other Greyhounds and what-not. I said that would be fine, but asked 'Why?' Apparently they think she is so lovely and sooky.... "Oh I don't think Princess Tarni would appreciate having to travel with the 'common' dogs" she said! Anyhow, she will be home around midday and we are very pleased... we've all missed her so much. Our home just hasn't been the same without her.

Is anyone here going to Wannon Park to see the Lifestyle Expo this weekend? I can't get there but if anyone here does I'd like to know who is conducting the reptile demonstrations. They would have some signage around or business cards I'd imagine. Just puttin' it out there.....

...will also point out, I have seen absolutely awful work leaving the "salon" at the Family Pet & Aquarium in Belmont. I don't like the way the groomer/s handle the dogs there either.
-
A friend of mine groom at the "Best Friends" pet store. I have seen dogs leave the salon many times and the work has been very good (and I am a qualified groomer!). Although the groomers must hate it, you are able to watch them work through a large viewing window too.

Just had this emailed to me.... thought it was pretty funny! A gorgeous young redhead goes into the doctor's office and said that her body hurt wherever she touched it. 'Impossible!' says the doctor. 'Show me.' The redhead took her finger, pushed on her left shoulder and screamed, then she pushed her elbow and screamed even more. She pushed her knee and screamed; likewise she pushed her ankle and screamed. Everywhere she touched made her scream. The doctor said, 'You're not really a redhead, are you? 'Well, no' she said, 'I'm actually a blonde.' 'I thought so,' the doctor said. 'Your finger is broken.'

Who gave the go-ahead? Take your pick... plenty of Morons on WCC!

Yep Kindle all sorted. Basalt is lovely... you will enjoy it. If it is set to rain all day we just go home, so long as there is nothing to do 'inside'. Some workers there are on programs like Work For Doll and stuff, so if they leave early they have to make-up the hours later. I just piss off and leave it to anyone wanting to hang around!
-
Yeah I had a good chuckle over your pic on Facebook, as I had been sent home from work due to rain that day and was sitting beside the fire! ;) No, I wont be attending the MPW.... we are having a 'reunion' style lunch as it is Mums 60th birthday on Sunday. Tarni only arrives back in Victoria on Saturday afternoon and will probably be a bit cranky after her season and a long trip. Dunno that she'd really want to be mixing-it-up with so many other dawgs!
-
How shit-house is this weather? Geez I hope it's better than this for the MPW on Sunday.

Uh Oh, Nearly forgot! ..... Happy Birthday Cooper Jay! 5 years young today! May all your doggie dreams come true!

Happy Mothers Day to any local Mums! Chantel did alright this morning. The kids woke us up at 6:00am but we told them the BEST present for Mum would be a sleep-in! So they left us be until 8:45am which is the longest we've had for years! She needed a new shirt, but all the kids wanted to hand her a gift so she got FOUR new shirts! Hope you all get something nice from your fur-kids today! tlc you'll clean-up with four! :D

Tried that, thanks. It's just not the same.

What are 'statuess?' I am so totally lost on here right now. If anyone sends me a msg or something and I ignore you... I am sorry! I just can't use this forum!!! lol OK, I'm off to my simple, easy, same-old, snake keepers forum.

Yeah I agree. It seems 'busy', and may just be an illusion, but seems to be a finer font? I am finding it harder to read. I dunno if it's easier/harder to use yet... will have to have a play. When you click "view all" emoticons, you have to slide the bar across to see them. Never had to do that before. Also when you place the cursor on a topic it used to flash up the first post, but not any more. Also the breed sub-forums are harder to navigate around... I used to just look for the smiley face icon to find the Vizsla thread, but they are all gone. Not... happy....

I hate it. I don't like 'change'.

Oh I'm sorry... we are home and I found the stick! It's a very big house that's why I suggested you bang on the lounge window. We don't hear the door from way down the back. Thanks so much. We will do that tonight and drop it back tomorrow.

Cool. Let me know when you have some Australorps for sale. Later rather than sooner anyway... we aren't set up for chooks yet!
-
Franklin is doing very well, thank-you! He has his own 12 foot pool arriving on Sunday. ;) Edited to add.... and a friend when I can get to Melbourne to pick him up. A DOLer needs to rehome 'Craig'. :D

We have decided on Australorps if we do go ahead and get some chooks. Are your Roosters suitable to eat? May be worth killing them . Sorry I don't know my 'chook breeds' too well.

Mawson maybe if you change the MPW to the "Million Scales Slither" you may attract some more 'interesting' attendees! Yeah a Vizsla is ideal for an energetic family with kids, but I usually recommend them for older kids (say 10+) as Vizslas can be very boisterous, especially while they are young. Of course it can work with younger kids... until recently we had 5 Vizslas with 4 kids ranging from 1 to 7 years. I think it comes down to the individual families situation more than anything.... are they dog savvy? Will they actively train the dog? Will the dog/children be supervised at all times? etc etc etc. There is some good information (well I think so!) on my website (click my signature below) on the "Is a Vizsla for me?" and the "Vizslas and Children" pages. I think these pages raise enough concerns for people to at least give a second thought to Vizsla ownership, or cement the fact that a Vizsla is right for them and their lifestyle. If they were interested in a Vizsla they are welcome to come and meet us. Our July litter is pre-sold but we could always put them in touch with someone else. Maybe "Honey" would suit them, if she is still needing a home? tlc that's no worries.... I'll see you over the weekend. Let me know if you'd rather I go to your place. Now I am afraid I wont be able to go on the MPW.... the 15th is Mums birthday, and as it's her 60th we are going out for lunch and out for the afternoon. Spewing about the Tracking Workshop! I REALLY wanted to get Tarni out for a go, but she'll be carrying some severe baggage by that stage and I think it would exert her a little to much. I may come out for a look again and help lay tracks if I'm needed. You'll need someone to bring the Stingos I'm sure! ;) Happy Birthday to Tully for the 15th.... I'm sure she'd love to join all her friends on the walk! Mawson, will PM you momentarily.

12 pages??? You ARE doing a PhD.... A PhD of our lives!!! I think you may know who Tenties means..... (well, that's if I am correct! ) What day is the MPW? I don't get my dog back until NEXT Saturday!

Started with my first Vizsla 23 years ago which led to showing, obedience, hunting and more recently, breeding. My passion for dogs led me to become a qualified dog groomer, operating my own salons, and also trained and worked as a Veterinary Nurse. Have headed a breed club sub-committee and been a committee member of that club. Have also handled show dogs for lots of other people. These days I have completely scaled down any involvement. I know longer show and rarely get out on the quail or rabbits etc. Edited to say... I no longer work within the pet industry as it doesn't pay enough to raise 4 kids, dogs and a stack of other pets!
