Wollaston Clinic is looking for a Vet Nurse, I'm told. Dunno details though....

Geez that's a shame about Tyson having to be retired. Still, the main thing is that he is ok, so that's good to hear. Congrats on getting a job! Bugger about the long hours, but then loooong hours means moooore money!!!

Well done to BJ on his 6 point CC and BOB! Shame the other TT's never fronted. Hi GSD's! Sounds like you're keeping busy with the herding. Have you had any luck getting herding started out these parts?
-
Well done to Puglvr on the BIS... I would imagine these are few and far between for a black? I won a Best Exhibit In Show once. Problem is it wasn't with MY dog!!!

Tarni loves Crunchy Nut Corn Flakes. Just sayin'.
-
Also... "Happy 21st Birthday" to "Chatabox!"

No run for us at Killarney this morning. Tarni took one look outside and slinked straight back to the couch. She hasn't even been out to pee yet! Can hardly blame her... it's horrible out there. Will have to plan some indoors activities for her. Problem is the only one she will get involved in is "find the treat."

We're not up to much... Going to Mums for lunch today, what, with today being the last day on Earth and all. Will probably get out to Killarney tomorrow. Dunno what the weather's going to be like in the morning but it's pretty awesome today! Anyone wanna meet at Killarney tomorrow? (So long as Earth hasn't self-destructed by then. Maybe Killarney will escape the worst anyway!)

Cav I prefer to 'er' on the side of caution and use nothing during pregnancy. I worm thoroughly prior to mating and then that's it until the pups are 2 weeks old, at which time Mum & bubs are all done at the same time, followed by another dose for the pups a couple of days later. Everyone you ask will have differing opinions on this... some worm throughout, others don't. There also seems to be much confusion about the safety of ANY medicinal products during pregnancy. My motto is: "If in doubt.... she can go without!" I have never, ever, had a worm infestation in the bitch or litter. What do you mean by her having teats unsuitable for new-borns? You'd be surprised what they can get their mouths around! I had a bitch who had some huge teats and others that hardly protruded, yet she fed pups just fine on them all.

Hey Cavalblaze congrats on the U/S results! Hope all goes well from here on. I had a litter U/S at Wollaston Vets and was told 4-5 pups. With gentle palpation I could feel 6+, I was sure. She whelped 10 good sized pups, so I wouldn't even think about numbers! I U/S to confirm preg, nothing else. ;) Edited coz I am such an idiot I couldn't spell 'I'.

Hey Guys, I got my stickers fromTHIS PLACE. They were the cheapest I could find... about 50% of what I've seen most stores selling them for, and a bigger range. They were delivered in a few days. Good service.
-
No, I haven't seen 'frog' stickers, otherwise I'd have one of them too! Yep. There are cats available.
-
This is ours. Hope it shows up ok.... the car is a tad dirty at the moment! I bought them online... MUCH cheaper than in AutoBarn etc! The only 'problem' with ours is that 'Dad' is about 80kilos too few, and my boy is taller than my eldest girl, which Jess is NOT happy about! I like them!
-
Maybe not the skirt, but I think the gadgets are about spot on! Yes we have those stickers on our car too, I shall post a pic momentarily!

Yep it's a really horrible thing to have. I had two years ago and the Dr's spent many months trying to correct them time and time again. Seemed like a waste of time as in the end they had to remove them anyhow... would have been a lot less bother to have done that in the first place! Still, bet the pups are glad to have you home. :D

What's wrong with your toe? Sounds like an ingrown nail... If so, don't stuff around, just get it done properly!!!

Sorry RnR I can't help, except for saying that two of my last three trailers I have sold were trucked over to the West. You're obviously not the only one having trouble sourcing one. Good luck!

That's really great to hear about. I think sometimes on this forum we seem to concentrate our discussions on all the 'bad' dog owners out there in the community. We read a lot of stories relating to "incidents at dog parks" and "bad dog owners" and "BYB's" etc. Yep, there really are a lot of dedicated, responsible, experienced dog owners out there, but until they screw-up and do something 'awful', we don't hear about them here, least of all discuss them! Thanks for sharing.

Hey tlc great pics as always of the MPW. Looks like a vast array of pure breeds and cross breeds alike. I recognize quite a few in the pics too.... just from around the area walking etc. Glad the weather was ok for it... how were the numbers? Mawson may have an idea on that one. Just hope not too many decided to stay at home due to the forecast of rain. Mum had a great day today for her 60th. Her best friends came up from Melbourne for lunch and she just loved spending the day catching up with them and showing-off her Grand-children! She was unsure what the Kindle was when she opened it.... she seemed a little confused and said "what's this?" thinking it was a diary or something as we also purchased a stitched leather 'wallet' for it so she couldn't tell what it was. When she opened the wallet and saw it was a Kindle she dead-set squealed! She was so excited. She was really grateful for having had so many great novels already loaded onto it too. During the afternoon She (jokingly!) told us we all need to leave now, as she wants to put her feet up and read on her new Kindle . So I think it's fair to say she was pretty pleased with it.

I think she'll love her Kindle. Problem is the accessories I ordered for her still haven't arrived. I got her a leather case/wallet and a screen protector which came a week ago, but I also ordered her a light, wall charger and car charger, none of which have turned up as yet. Look forward to MPW pics tomorrow evening when I get home!

Nice work Jess!

Tarni sure is glad to be home... back on the couch eating Arnotts Malt-o-Milk biscuits. She has lost a bit of weight while she was away as she does stress a bit when she's not with us. She was away 2 weeks. Don't mind that she lost a bit as she was a little 'chunky' when she left. Nice pics of the day tlc... looks like a good day there. Many turn up for it? Top of 14deg for tomorrow with light showers persisting until afternoon, particularly along the coast. Doesn't sound too good, but let's hope that the showers are indeed, 'light'. I guess it's one of those days where if you plan for the worst weather and really rug-up with wet-weather gear, you can still enjoy the day.

Geez I hope you guys get weather like this for your walk tomorrow!

An A$1200 fine??? No wonder such practices still occur!

The whole idea behind the PGD chain was to suck people in with the name... Pet Goods "Direct" insinuates a "discount" warehouse type set-up. The way he operates is he imports most products himself, and selects brands which no other pet stores carry. This way he can instill incredible profit margins/mark-ups on these products and the consumer is unable to compare these prices with their competitors, as their competitors don't sell these brands. Of course, there are 'known' trusted brands (particularly with pet foods) which he has no choice but to carry, as these items are what bring customers through the door in the first place. Funny thing is, he still has the same ridiculous "pricing structure" on these bread-and-butter items too! The fact they are telling people they have "delivery issues" is rubbish, as my brother owns the Aquarium store in town and buys his livestock from the same suppliers as PGD, and he has never had an issue getting his live fish to Warrnambool. A funny story behind the Pet Good Direct chain... Gary (owner) employed an experienced businessman to 'design' a chain of the biggest, best pet store Australia has ever seen. This man (who I shall refer to as Bob) spent many months researching and surveying the market to establish just what the Aussie consumer wanted from a pet store. Bob finally returned to Gary and basically said that what the people want is a chain of huge stores which are a one-stop-shop encompassing all the average pet owners needs such as food and accessories, housing, grooming, veterinary services and no sales of puppies or kittens etc. It should be 'supermarket' style with trolleys and check-outs and displays to encourage impulse purchasing etc etc. Gary took one look at the proposal, told Bob he was a stupid idiot for thinking such rubbish, and sacked him! Gary then proceeded to establish his chain of PGD stores, which besides one or two outlets, have proved very unsuccessful. Meanwhile, Bob was positive his idea would work, so he began establishing his own stores... large, supermarket type stores with grooming salons, 'check-outs', Veterinarians 'in-house', huge ranges, lots of staff, "fun days" etc and has never looked back. Bob has opened stores in MANY cities and all are doing well. He also cleverly, opened the majority of his stores within close proximity to a competing Pet Goods Direct store. Bob is the proud owner of the very successful "Best Friends" Pet Superstore chain. I love this story.... stickin' it to the Man!
