  1. Exactly! But that's their piss-weak excuse for their cocked-up behaviors! Yes you are right there. Same as many supposed customs that involve animal cruelty. No bloody excuse. I am not going to tell my husband as he will get mad but also gets extremely upset at crap like this. I understand completely. I think I am a very understanding and accepting person in most cases, but this stuff just pisses me right off. There is absolutely NO need to eat a Koala. The Chinese aren't starving, nor are they short on choice, they simply have no regard for anything living. If it makes them feel important or unique they will kill and eat it, and half the time it seems the more cruel and grotesque the method of slaughter, the better! In many cases these people begin preparing an animal for the table while still alive.... kill the damn thing first, you pack of cruel pricks!!! Would love to stick them in a wire cage with a carrot..... you can guess what would come next for the poor Koala.

  3. Sometimes I find it very hard to be accepting of others' "customs". There are so many customs/delicacies the Chinese (among others) engage in which simply infuriates me. The carrot in the cage says it all...... bastards.
  4. It's not just the Europeans and Americans doing it.... there are a number of popular 'morphs' here in Australia which commonly display neurological conditions due to 'selective' breeding for colour etc.
  5. RP I spoke to Tenties on Facebook yesterday. There was no mention of surgery, and was able to use the 'puter obviously.
  6. There is some good info on swimmers HERE.
  7. I have a huge collection of reptiles and have tried them at my home..... While they didn't curl-up on top of them, they were absolutely completely not fussed by them!
  8. Err... it is! So call me a do-gooder for caring about cruelty to animals? Shadecloth used in the same way will keep them out and the snakes won't get caught in it. Sure beats the hell out of an angry snake in pain dying in your netting. But hey, wouldn't want to be considered a do-gooder or something. *like* *like* *like*
  9. the jury's out on these.... perhaps save your money ;) Nope... the Jury's back and said they are shit! As Persephone said.... hang-on to your cash.
  10. Half your luck! I LOVE the 'green' SBT's but hard to get. I HAVE found a 'breeder' in Terang who's frogs are producing green colouration and have managed to get hold of a couple, but not as nice as I have seen in wild specimens. Love the White Lips too... just a bit hard to sell retail as everyone seems to know how noisy they are! What were you doing up in Cairns? Just a holliday? I wish I'd known... I had a pair of Lizards flown down from Cairns this week... I could have put them on your "excesss baggage" allowance! ;)
  11. I'm sorry DogSvet that you had such an awful experience, but I have shipped lots of puppies all over the country and not once, ever have I had even a tiny little drama with DogTainers. They are the ONLY company I have ever used and I trust them completely. I'm sure airline strikes would make things very difficult for companies like DogTainers, and it sounds like they may have been very stressed when they were dealing with you.
  12. I agree, to an extent, but what about all the hundreds of thousands of people who keep 'exotics' that we never hear about? MOST people buy them, keep them in good conditions their entire lives and then the pets die. I don't see how them being 'exotics' makes it wrong. This situation could have been just as awful had he released 56 non-exotic Bulls! In my experience, people who tend to keep exotics usually keep them in a better fashion than most people keep domestic pets. Besides Zoos, we in Australia are allowed to keep NO exotics at all, yet I know lots of people who keep Corn Snakes, Boas, Iguanas, Chameleons etc and these people would protect their pets with their life. The fact this particular man was allowed to keep any animals at all in the condition some were in, or even in the mental state he was in, is more the point here I think.
  13. I always select puppies for owners and prospective owners are made well aware of this from their first enquiry. Firstly, for me, it depends on what the puppy is to be 'used' for,ie; conformation, hunting, companion etc. Secondly is the owners lifestyle and whether or not there are children in the family etc.
  14. Ta, I'll check them out when I'm down in a couple of weeks. They don't have a lot of info on their website regarding brands, livestock etc etc. Oh yeah..... Pets & The City = $$$
  15. Kangaroo Mice *should* arrive tomorrow. What Pet Shops do you like in Melbourne? I like visiting new stores that are recommended to me. I'd heard good things about Pets Den in Bayswater, but when I went for a look the other week I thought it was shit. Rumor has it that most of the Pet Goods Direct stores are being taken over by another chain 'Pet Barn' but it has not been stated that the Warrnambool store will be one of them. I am surprised it isn't, as I know for a fact the Warrnambool store is loosing a lot of money. I can tell you that the day my store starts loosing money will be the day I walk away from it! I don't know why he keeps pumping money into a failing chain.
  16. I just picked up 12 more baby turtles! They are very hard to get now and these will be the last for me until next 'season', hopefully they will do me til then. Got some nice baby snakes, and some interesting lizards today too! Spent waayyyyyyyyyyyyyy too much $$$ but as long as they sell in a reasonable time it will pay off. I HATE Melbourne so much. I couldn't wait to get out of there today... I was back in Warrny before 4pm!!!
  17. Yeah probably. I don't even know anymore!
  18. Boganish? NEVER! Here's part of my 'pack'.... impossible to get a pic of my lot together.... not sure who would eat who. ;) PS... I am much better looking than in this pic! ;)
  19. tlc your office is so cool! I want I want I want!!! Darren is so happy with that snake. It really is awesome... Better he take it in to meet everyone while it's ten months old, 'cause soon enough it will be ten feet long! (I am thinking of keeping one of them for myself. Besides the fact that I already have one 8 feet long, I reckon you can never have too many snakes. * Just don't tell Chan... told her I've stopped "collecting" for a while! Mind you, I'm off to Melbourne snake-hunting tomorrow so you never know what I'll find! ;)
  20. I didn't know Trish was sick, mind you I've not seen her since the tracking workshop. Hope she's ok. Otherwise, Kepala, or Diamonds in Rowville. I don't know of any others.
  21. Cute! I didn't get any sound though.... Your 'office' looks awesome... love it!
  22. Hope he posts a pic on the Repti-Life page....
  23. That's great, but "wrapped" isn't the best choice of words when talking about what will be a 10 foot Python!
