So after loosing my old Dremel a while back, I have been contemplating getting another, for no other reason than for doing the dogs nails. However, as my number of dogs has greatly reduced in recent times, I don't know that I can justify $160-odd on a new Dremel which will be used very sparingly! So I've seen the "Pedi Paws" Grinders.... obviously based (loosely) on the principals of the Dremel, and was wondering if they are any good? They are certainly cheaper! I realize they wouldn't be a heavy-duty item, but has anyone used a Pedi Paws on a large dog? Wondering what peoples thoughts are on these? TIA! :)

Glad you and Team Spoodle had a great day! Why Sale? Was that the nearest MPW from where you are staying? Haven't been down there for many years... a lovely part of the world. There are quite a few "Jerojath Vizslas" down that way... did you see any Vizslas on the MPW??? Look forward to your pics here or on FB... :) No, no MPW for us here. Chantel had to do a Reptile Demonstration in the middle of the day (at Bunnings) which meant I was stuck with all the kids. I've had a lovely day with the kids and spending time with all the critters.... and a fair part of it laying on the couch. My first day off for quite a while!!! Wish there were more of them.

I haven't been to either of those restaurants (we never get out these days!!!) but I've heard great things about them both. The Pickled Pig seems to have developed a real following.... people love the place!!! PS..... They have a Facbook page if you're interested.

Chantel has been booked for a presentation for the night. Hey, tell Darren he really needs to be careful doing that. By law, that snake is not allowed to leave the licensed premises unless it is directly related to obtaining Veterinary treatment. It's ok for him to want to show his work-mates, but when he's got customers watching on he could get into a lot of trouble. It only takes ONE person there to see it and report him.... often it's not people who have an understanding of the law, but rather "Greenies" and the like who don't like seeing such animals being paraded, that make the call to DSE or 'Parks' etc. He would be fined heavily, lose his animals and lose his license.... it's just not worth it. We are allowed to take our reptiles out into the public, but we pay a LOT of money for such a license for the privilege. There would be no point in us doing this if "everyone" was allowed to take their animals out and about! Don't get me wrong, I don't have a problem with him taking his single snake to work, but there are people who would. A Woman took her Carpet Snake to a local Primary School Fete last year as an "attraction". Someone reported her and she was fined, stripped of her license and is never allowed to keep a protected species again. The 'wrong' person was at the fete, didn't like what they saw and reported the school, who in-turn passed the authorities onto the owner of the snake. She also faced up to 6 months jail time, but as a first offense, got lucky this time. Just letting him know. I will have a chat to him when I see him next if you'd rather. :) I like Darren and Bec and they LOVE that snake of theirs, I'd hate to see anything happen to them! Poor Cooper! Geez, it really seems to be taking a long time to right itself! I can't remember if I already asked you this, but can't the Vet suture-in an open drain and just let the fluid flush itself out??? Seems crazy to have to keep going back and having it drained, especially as Coops doesn't like going to the Vets. Seems a little unnecessary to me Still, he seems to be taking it all in his stride. He's a good boy, luckily for you! :laugh: Hope the site looks great when you take the bandage off..... fingers crossed for ya!

He's about 6 months old. No, you can't really 'pat' him, as you would lose a finger and before long. your entire arm. They don't make good pets at all, unless of course you desperately want a Crocodile! He is for our Demonstrations and will be taped so he can't bite anyone. Taping their snout shut isn't cruel.... it actually seeems to relax and de-stress them on most occasions. It's for everyone's safety too, of course. Depending on how he settles in, Snap may make his debut at the Mothers Day Night at Bunnings next week ;) If he hasn't eaten before then or settled down well, then we will leave him at home. I have always loved all reptiles, but this Croc (even at this size!) is just something else..... the "ultimate" reptile, I guess. I'm totally hooked. Setting up for him (properly) cost thousands of dollars and is really only temporary.... he is going to need a much bigger habitat in years to come, but I am already planning for another Crocodile. I really want a 'Saltwater Crocodile' which can grow to up to 8 meters in length, but the Wife hasn't given me 'the nod' on that just yet!

Yep... agree about Petstock. I popped in today on my way out of town. They really aren't ready to be open and clearly have a lot of work to do, but you get the idea and it looks pretty good in there. I see they are building a Grooming Salon as well as a Dog Wash! It's certainly going to be a great store. I think I have been into almost every Petstock store and this will be the better one I reckon. I believe Warrnambool Petstock (in it's old location) was only the third Petstock store and the first to operate as a franchise. I think they will do well out there.... PGD has survived there somehow and it's pathetic, Petstock have got it right so they should thrive. :laugh: sorry tlc no pics today! I did have an amazing couple of hours with Western & Chappel Island Tiger Snakes, Colletts Snakes (my ABSOLUTE Favorites!) as well as Eastern Browns and Fierce Snakes. I didn't get to handle them all, as not all of them are 'good' handlers, even when worked with a hook, and I am NOT experienced enough to fool around with snakes like that just yet! But..... I DID come home with this little guy! Well, he's little now but will end up longer than the Mitsubishi!!! :laugh: He's so awesome and I think I'm in love all over again!!!

I'm here til 1pm. Not much point being here after that I reckon. Then I'm off to a friends place to handle some awesome snakes including his Taipans!!!

I must say, that is a very odd reply from your Vet. I thought it was common knowledge that this can occurr! Antibiotics attack bacteria, both good and bad. Unfortunately it can kill beneficial bacterias which are 'stabilizing' conditions in moist/sensitive areas like the ears, vulva etc. It's a bit like adding bacteria to a fish tank deliberately - you need good bacteria to combat the bad. Ifd the antibiotics kill the good bacteria, there is nothing to combat the bad and "presto" - ear infection! I'll tell you what I find VERY helpfull in such situations.... Yakult. Just syringe a Yakult into his mouth every morning. I'm not sure exactly how it works, but it just does!!! (Works great for Thrush in humans too!) Yes Petstock is open but they still haven't emptied the old store yet. They don't have any fish or reptiles on display yet but they appear to have all their general stock in place! I agree - everyone tends to keep in touch with Facebook these days. Maybe this thread has had its day????? 6492 Posts..... was a busier thread than I ever intended!!! Geez It's quiet in here! "Helllloooooooooooooooooooooooooo!" I was wondering if anyone has been to check-out the new Pet Stock Store yet??? I've heard from a few customers here that it's an awesome Pet Shop!! Apparently they have a huge 'dog section' which was always lacking before... I can't wait to get out and see it as it sounds great. They have a substantial Reptile Section too which I'd be interested to see of course! It's gonna make life tough for Pet Goods Direct across the road... sounds like Pet Stock are doing things well. I would reckon it will have an affect on the little Pet Store in town too.....

Good idea Tanya, anyone else keen? we could make it a Sunday and JJ could come and bring the Mrs and the kids, oh and Tarni of course! If we made it just after lunch say 1ish, dog training up there would be finished for the day. The only thing is there could be others at the play ground and if that was the case we could just keep our distance from there as long as we are 30m away its all good and the dogs can be off lead. Yeah Sunday's are good for me except for the nxt two... Yep.... same here! :)

tlc Tarni didn't eat at all the last couple of nights... dunno why and otherwise she's fine. Might be the weather! :laugh: She ate a few necks tonight...

I can totally understand why people love their cats, don't get me wrong! Everyone is different.... people struggle to understand why I've always loved the scaly-ones amongst us! I guess it's like anything.... can't blame the animal (cats are programmed to 'hunt') but it's the irresponsible actions of the majority of owners that sticks, unfortunately. If my neighbours said "Oh I'm terribly sorry! I have such awful trouble keeping him in!" I would understand, but when they say "Meh! It's a cat! What can you do for a cat?" my blood boils! Isn't there a curfew for cats in Warrnambool??? I know there was where I used to live and it worked! If a cat was found out after hours, or brought in to the pound before curfew lifted in the morning, it was put to sleep, no questions. That was in WA though.... The last few times we have been walking at Tower Hill we have seen domestic cats within the reserve. They really should be baited or shot like the foxes.

HELL FREEZING OVER..... :laugh: my friend has 3 wee little boy's she has handraised after finding them in a trailer, looks like the Easter Bunny was late in getting one to you the kids :laugh: Easter Bunny??? They're all Snake food here! :laugh: Nope.... I love that the kids are able to enjoy so many amazing creatures, but even as an "animal lover" I can honestly say I have ZERO appreciation for cats! After years of working in a clinic and having countless native animals brought in almost daily dead, or dying, from a cat 'attack', I have no sympathy for them. What pees me off the most is that whenever I complain to neighbours about their cat in my yard, shitting on my lawn or spraying on my lounge-room windows, they all say the same thin..... "Couldn't possibly have been MY cat... he NEVER wanders and I NEVER let him out at night!" Well, I got news for them.... their cats DO wander, they DO shit on my lawn and they DO piss on my windows. They EVEN get into my lizard enclosure and KILL nine of my Bluetongues! If someones DOG behaved like that there would be a huge outcry! The council would swoop, seize the dog, have a Dangerous Dog label branded on its arse and probably even make the paper! Imagine if my pet Red-Bellied Black Snake was found on the neighbours back patio.... do you think they would just ignore it? Or if one of my HUGE Pythons pissed on their front porch? I'd have police on my doorstep! But for some reason it's as if it is EXPECTED from cats, and cat owners seem to believe that neighbours should just be tolerant of this! Well between you and me (and anyone else reading this! :laugh: ) we are buying a cat trap from George Taylors because OUR neighbours have not listened to our gentle requests nor harsh suggestions, so their kitties wont be going home one night soon! So, in a very long-winded fashion, I have explained why our children will NEVER be getting a cat. :) Can you tell I don't like cats??? :laugh:
