I based my map off all the data thats currently available online and also rang up a few councils to double check some things when the online data didn't look quite right. I also visited a number of spots personally to double check what was there and clear up any grey areas. I'd assume most rangers go off the signs that are posted at actual locations so hopefully there are very few instances where theres a difference between the online data and what is the case. The map is fairly easy to update now that I have worked out the general use of it. So if/when I get feedback from each council I can change boundaries and details pretty easily :) The idea is to keep it pretty up to date.

What I'll do is I'll include the links to this discussion and other social sites I've announced the map on in my emails to the councils, so they can all read the feedback from everyone in regards to the current beach regulations. Dunno if they'll read it, but at least we can have these discussion topics as a point of reference to the current public thought. :)

Which beach was it, and what was the particular rule? Like did they have to be on leash, or just no dogs at all during a certain time? I can sort of see the logic in a way of some of the locations, especially with the popular beaches. Theres a lot of people, and the few bad dog owners who don't control their dog well or don't clean up can spoil it a bit. The main thing I would like to see is a unification of the summer/winter change over dates, and a consistent time for daily rule changes. Theres also a few beaches where dog off leash zones are close together but are separated by a leashed zone, yet the location it self is not a popular beach. Mainly Williamstown/Altona and Tourque

Totally agree, theres a heap of different foreshore committees which manage a lot of the coast line. I contacted a few to get details. Geelong had the same sort of setup as well with many different committees regulatings each beach and having that data written elsewhere. I'll be emailing this to all the different councils and committees in the next hour or so to double check the data is right, and hopefully they will all see how its all very confusing for the average person :p Some councils didn't even have maps for me to copy, just text describing the streets or walkways the dog zones were between

G'day everyone! For a few weeks now I've been putting together this map from all the council data, visiting sites to check inconsistencies, and contacting various councils on the phone to get clarification. CLICK HERE FOR MAP PAGE I hope this is handy for all the dog owners out there, as I know I've always found it a pain to work out which beaches can and can't be visited with my dogs. I've also pimped my own little business in there but hopefully its not too distracting :p The map can be embedded in your own site and shared out pretty easily if you want, you'll see the share feature in the google maps's window. Let me know what you think :D

Yeah I'll most likely be up for this (depending on work)

Where Can I Buy Dog Pants From In Melb?
ChiggenWingz replied to ChiggenWingz's topic in General Dog Discussion
So back to the question :p Anyone know of any stores in Melbourne that sell any sort of pants? -
I've found various online stores that sell dog pants, but I'm looking for any local stores in Melbourne (or if anyone knows one in Canberra) where I can buy some pants for my girl. Want to try them on before purchasing. Looking to get pants to help with when she comes into season to prevent mating, and also if she needs to wear it when going to places that require no dog peeing/pooping.

Yep I'll be up for it. Also I got a new puppy :D

Update: Act, Nsw, Snow Trip With The Dogs!
ChiggenWingz replied to ChiggenWingz's topic in General Dog Discussion
So I actually looked at the prices today, and going by myself may be a bit more costly than I was originally imagining :p We could book a 2 night stay on Friday 22nd July to Sunday 24th (when its cheaper) or sometime after that when its a bit more expensive. I'm thinking we book the 5 person Bungalow possibly? http://www.bimblegumbie.com.au/Tariffs.html There is no guarantee for snow, so just the trip will hopefully be interesting enough, and it'll be a bonus if we get snow? Whos up for those dates? Or possibly later? -

2pm is good I'm thinking Belco dog park, with a walk all together along the bike path at some point? (possibly begin walk at 2:30?) BOM says there will be a chance of patchy rain, and cool wind, so may want to bring something warm Kaywoman68, can you update the topic title and first post to show current details please? -

Iskiea, it should be cool to come along. I use to attend a few get togethers before I got my permanent dog -
Hey everyone! Tried to organize something years ago but didn't manage to get the balling rolling hard enough. (Clicky for old topic) But this year I've done my research and http://www.bimblegumbie.com.au/ looks like the place to go. Who would be up for a weekend away with the chance it could snow where we are staying? Took a trip out there the other week, friendly lady, keen to have any number of us pop along. Stay in individual rooms or in a house. Its in the valley down from Threadbow, just outside the national park so it's all good to take the dogs. She has said it did snow in Oct in recent years. Actually seeing snow will be the hard part, as it doesn't snow overly often at this place, but it does occasionally. The owner said she'd happily ring me to let me know if there has been a fresh dump of snow, and if its timely enough I could book a weekend up there. Also I talked to the Jindabyne info center and asked when it normally snows there. From about July to Oct it could, normally as a result of South EASTERLY wind. I'm thinking I'll head there for a weekend there, snow or no snow in the coming weeks, see what its all like. So if you're interested put your name down here, and if you think you'd have the flexibility to be called up for a weekend away with short notice or not. Would be good to get rough numbers ----------------------------------- UPDATE: Looking to book on 22nd July to 24th. http://www.bimblegumbie.com.au/Tariffs.html (looking to book the 5 person bungalow) Please post interest if you would like to come
