I'm using advocate and proban on my Golden Retriever (and advocate only on my siamese/burmese cat). Vet assured me this was fine. No fleas, no ticks, no side effects noticed, just happy animals and people.

Thanks to both replies. I'll give the cold tea a go today and then pop into the chemist and pick up some drops.

Am a bit concerned about Will's eyes this morning. Will is a almost 2yr old GR. He usually has "sleep" in his eyes first thing in the morning, just small black bits and a little soft. However this morning there is quite a bit more of it and it's a little green - in both eyes. Otherwise he's seems to be in good health. Would rather try some home remedies first before heading off the the vet. Have just cleaned his eyes very gently with warm water. I do have some saline solution and was going t use this but was worried about it stinging if it got in his eyes? Any suggestions?

When our goldie "Will" was about 16 weeks we had a similar incident at puppy school where he stole another puppy's bone (each pup was given a bone at the end of the lesson) and then growled aggressively when the other pup and the puppy school teacher tried to take it away from him. He eventually let me remove it. It really upset me, however, I spent the next few weeks deliberately removing his food bowl or bone before he finished and then returning it a short time later ... the same with favourite toys. He learn't very quickly and we haven't had a problem since. We also reinforced leadership stuff, you know making sure you are first through the door and that he is fed after the human family has eaten etc Will was desexed at 6mths, he is 9mths now and gorgeous.

I just posted this in the Heath forum, but he it is again: Pup was de sexed and came home wearing an Elizabethan collar. First night fine, second night he’d managed to manoeuvre the collar in such a way as to gouge out the wound and expose the internal stitching, as well as also irritating his hind leg enough to remove hair and create a sore patch. Soooo, back to the vet: explanation = needs a bigger collar. Pup had further week with enormous collar and a course of antibiotics and regular bathing of the wounds with saline solution.
