  1. Thanks everyone for taking the time to post here. Still being a massive worry wart - was an ok night except i was up at 1am just watching poor Molly like a hawk - i'm sure i'm making her more anxious. Just some grunting/snorting noises - thankfully no reverse sneezing. I taped her yesterday making her grunt noises to show my vet and i've uploaded one of them to YouTube. Just wondering if anyone has heard a dog make these noises and/or any suggestions as to what it could be. 2 Vets and $400 later i'm still none the wiser. Have just been quoted $500 for the scope up the nose but Vet did say we may not find anything. Link to video .I got some Manuka Honey today so giving that a shot. The noise i'm sure is coming from her nose - not her mouth. Thanks for your help.
  2. We are all home and doing ok. Emergency vet can't tell me what is wrong with her but did give her an anti inflammatory injection. Molly was still rasping/snorting like a pig so I took her to my normal vet. Again no real answer but she did some assessments and Molly has beautiful pink gums and tongue plus she is getting air out of both nostrils. Was told to watch her and if worse mid week bring her back. Next step is xrays and camera down nose. This snort has me worried even though Molly seems not to be bothered by it at all. Might try the antihistamines. Do you use human ones?
  3. Had she not started to snort in the afternoon straight after her bone then I probably wouldn't be worrying so much. Maybe it's just a coincidence? Her attacks are very similar to those in the YouTube videos. She has been at vet since 6am and no further gasping. I am due to call again in an hour and see if she is ready to come home. I hate this not knowing if it's serious or not.
  4. Molly had another "attack" so I took her to an emergency vet. She is there now so they can monitor her. Unfortunately she didn't do her snorting while we were there so vet isn't sure what is wrong with her. I feel sick. I miss my little dog.
  5. Wow - Talk about stressful. One of my dogs has just had a full on 5min gasping attack. Since this afternoon Molly has been making a snort like sound. Sort of like a pig. She had been chewing a marrow bone. I woke up about an hr ago (bad back) and noticed this pig snorting/snoring noise but she was sleeping, breathing and generally looking fine. Just now my mum got up and .Molly got excited and this breathing fit started. Jaw clenched shut making god awful wheezing sound. Took a good five mins to calm her done. All the while calling emergency vets. I'm familiar with reverse sneezing as my other dog gets it. But the sound Molly was making I honestly thought she was going to die. Not to be grosse but the sound is similar to when you have Clem in your throat and try to bring it up or talk. I've checked her nosecand doesn't appear to be anything up there. If she was choking would the gasping be coming from her mouth? Emergency vet says to watch her overnight. Will see vet in morning. Going to be a long five hrs. Oh and thank god for iPad. My desk computer would still be loading.
  6. My dogs would have a fit being locked in there and blasted with water... i'd have a fit if it was me.
  7. My two love cat crunchies from the backyard. It's lovely when they try to give you a kiss and you can smell it on there breath. Rotten dogs!!!
  8. My Vet mentioned the dog licking to me for my dog that has just had his dew claws removed. Vet told me to wash with warm salt water and ONLY to intervene if he is actually trying to pull the stiches out but not to worry if he is just licking the wound. 12 odd days and no infection.
  9. My dog had his two hind ones removed two days ago - we hadn't had an injury. I choose to have them removed as they weren't fully attached (they dangled) and his actual claw seem to grow a cm overnight. it always curled under and was a pain in the butt to trim. At the moment apart from the odd attempt to lick the wound, he seems completely un concerned by the operation. He eats, walks and bounces around as per normal. For those interested the cost was around $280 and includes a follow up visit for change of bandage and then a further visit for removal of stitches. He is 3.
  10. GayleK asked the big question five pages ago and unless i'm blind i can't see anyone that has specifically answered it. Oscars Law should be a good thing. It's about stopping/improving large scale commercial breeding facilities and the sale of pets in pet shops. There would be many thousands of dogs around Australia that would benefit from these proposed changes and who knows, if Australia implements them perhaps other countries would follow? The greater good people.
  11. I think it's great that finally some noise is being made about puppy farms - i only wish i had the opportunity to voice my opinion publicly today. A big thank you to all those that gave up their Sunday to trek into the city and stand up for the rights of our bestest friends!!
  12. Sort of - indirectly i guess. It's a gadget to make sure that your monitor is set to a "true colour" of sorts. Ie what you see on the screen is exactly (or as very close as possible) as to what is printed out colour wise. If you don't calibrate your monitor you may find your printed photos are darker or lighter than what you thought they would be because of what you see on your monitor. I guess it's more for the serious/business photographers who send there photos off to get professionally printed as you can also create ICC profiles.

  15. Hi everyone Just wanted to let you know i have listed by Nikon Speedlight for sale in the Marketplace. It's hardly used and is in as new perfect condition. If you are interested let me know. Cheers
  16. I know Pet Barn at Fountain Gate Vic did/does stock them. You can buy the refills here http://www.ozpetshop.com.au/product_info.p...roducts_id/2058 or the actual toy here http://www.ozpetshop.com.au/product_info.p...roducts_id/1830
  17. We stayed at Muxy's Place (along Great Ocean Road) and loved it!! They have a huge property BUT it isn't fully fenced. It wasn't a problem for our pooches but may be an important factor for you. They are near a dog friendly beach but unless you want your dogs washed out to Tasmania i wouldn't let them loose without a long lead or something. I have since been informed this beach is loved by surfers as has some of the biggest waves in vic. It was very rough. http://www.muxys-place.com.au/
  18. I'm in Melbourne and very interested in participating with one of my frisbee obsessed dogs. Are you still looking for an organiser? What would be involved?
  19. thanks aussie dog, i live just around the corner from there and they do other dogs and small animals as well as all the other items you can find in the gerden. But friend has been there and nothing tickled her fancy. I just thought i would do her a favour and look aswell and hopefully i would be successful. But i am thinking i will not be. BTW your from QLD, you know your stuff, howd you know about this place???? They also sell at the carribean market. Jed i have googled everything but no luck as yet!! I think the profile reverts to QLD when you first sign up - i've just never changed it. I'm in Sth East Melbourne. Sorry i couldn't have been more help.
  20. There is a statue place on Thompsons Road in Cranbourne - just before the Western Port Hwy roundabout. It appears to be a house but they have statues everywhere with a sign for parking. They have HEAPS of outdoor statues and I’m almost positive they make them there onsite. We brought a heap of things from them around 12months ago - they customised some seats for us (as it was used to deck out a kinder garden) and where very reasonably priced too.
  21. Two dogs here and a cat. All get along fine - in fact they all play chasey with one another - darting from one end of the house to the other. It's funny watching them interact. The dogs are always walking up to the cat while she is sleeping and just gives a careful poke as if to say "c'mon play". Or the cat walks past the dogs, looks at them, and then races behind the couch. Then at night they (sometimes) all jump up on the same bed and sleep together.
  22. Just one main meal at night around 6ish. Both get a couple of doggie biscuits in the morning.
  23. We have similar bowls like that here too. I got mine from Pets At Home and they were around $12 from memory. Both of my dogs are fast eaters but one in particular when finished eating would go outside and throw it all up. Poor dog didn't keep anything down. So far since using these bowls she hasn't thrown up once. My bowls have 5-6 prongs in the middle.
  24. I hope it turns out better than the Melbourne one. We thought we would make a day of it - well we stayed all of 30mins. It was dreadful - the only plus was the teeny tiny free bag of dog food we got.
  25. I shouldn't have watched the video - his crys were just heart breaking. That poor, poor little dog.
