Restricting the limit register will help the breeds but some kind of requirement for people wanting to breed said dogs needs to be established confirming health stats and conformation requirements. This needs to be done by Dogs Qld with a pass required before breeding with any pedigree dog. I won't hold my breath though :)

I have used neem seed oil on my itchy horse with great success. Try putting cold pressed 100% neem seed oil in his shampoo. About a tablespoon into his shampoo will kill any bugs and moisturise his skin. It is a miracle cure for itchy people and animals.

My vet said that if the puppy shows signs of being off their food or lethargic they are in pain. Head wobbles and uncoordinated movement are also signs of Hydrocephalus. Some pups will have it mildly and can live for a year or more some need to be put to sleep well before they are 6 months. As far as I know they do not do shunts for animals. If her vision is affected, she is already in pain and at only 5 weeks that seems pretty severe. The sad thing is you can't do anything to help her. Be wary of breeding this female again.

Titre test at 1 year to see if he needs another vacc, he may not need another for a few years. If he is reacting to vaccines the less you do the better for your dog.

I have found most puppy buyers are looking for test results from the parents. If you don't test for CL,CEA and TNS and hip and elbow score you usually will have a hard time selling your pups. Maybe that is why there is 48 ads for pups on here. Unfortunately not all are conscientious breeders.

I bought my first Border Collie 24 yrs ago for $180. I bred my first litter with a couple of chocolates a few years later and couldn't sell them. I was selling the black and whites for $250 and the chocolates for $120 if I was lucky. Lots of health tests later and latest trends has seen a healthy price rise for the Border Collie.

Love it. I use on my adult dogs and also on my puppies. I recommend it to all my puppy buyers. I also give a VAN puppy pack to all puppy buyers. I mix mine with chicken and roo mince and my dogs love it. Change over to it gradually and you can also start with a smaller quantity and then increase to recommended quantity.

We have pulled dozens of ticks off the dogs lately. If you have seen no symptoms within 2 days of detaching the ticks your pup is well and I wouldn't be to concerned. Keep your pup cool and as quiet as possible for at least a week to ensure any lingering lethargy. I would use a tick wash, fidos is good or a tea tree shampoo will do as well. You might want to wash your other dogs and cats as well, but I doubt the ticks would have jumped off a perfectly good host. If your pup had these ticks on them for two days and they were the strong paralysis tick your pup would have been showing symptoms of paralysis especially if it had more than one. So another reason not to stress to much. It sound like you had the good paralysis tick if their is such a thing. Mind you this tick is also deadly if on the dog long enough. It is a very bad season for ticks and all puppy buyers should go over their puppies very carefully or better still ask the breeder to tick wash the pups first although they shouldn't need to be asked.

Fault lies totally with the dog owner and the dog. Children have the right to play in their front yards in safety full stop. The dog may have been excited and not scared or hurt. It amazes me how people can say the child is to blame. The child is only three.

Do you have snails? These nasties carry a parasite that can cause paralysis in puppies. Maybe in adults to.

My thoughts exactly. If and when the designer dog breeders have to health test and pay registration fees lets see how much a cross bred pup will cost then.

I have had two of my Border Collie dogs Pen hip scored and AVA scored. Both of the results for these two dogs were comparable. I see no reason to change to Pen hip scoring as they both are as accurate as each other.

The sporn harness is excellent for a pulling dog. It is gentle and doesn't pull the dogs head or choke around the neck. It pulls from under the front legs which takes the power away from the chest and front of the dog. I have seen them work on anything from a small white fluffy to a lovely energetic staffie. You should be able to take your dog to the shop where you buy them and try it in store. Get the sales people to show you how to use it correctly. Good luck.

We are looking for suitable training grounds on the North side of Brisbane for herding. We need a large area under lights for night training which needs to be fenced. We would appreciate any suggestions this forum may have. Thanks kindly

I have a 8mth old female border collie. She has what I would call fluid sacks on both her elbows. She is not lame in any way and still moves well. She shows no discomfort. It has baffled the vet as they thought it could be from lying on a hard surface but she sleeps on a mattress which is soft. and that usually comes with age. I have her on antibiotics and anti inflamatories and it is not making any difference.They would like to do xrays But if it were of the bone or joint I think she would be lame or at least sore in that area. They also said they did not know whether she should rest or exercise the area. Has anyone seen or heard of this before :rolleyes:
