Do you have your own A-frame? I think it's a great method of you can consistently train it.
-
I agree with poodlefan! Keep your mind open :p I do agree that pancreatitis is a tricky one... but also there is a lot of vets who don't recommend raw diets for bad reasons.
-
Why are you 'not fussed' about feeding your dog their natural diet? I can understand that raw meat can be gross but if your dog benefits more from it than form the cooked equivalent, isn't it worth it? especially if your dog has already some dietary problems.. :p
-
I think you should look at their diets more. What are you feeding them? As far as shampoos are concerned I love Groomers EPO shampoo as well as Rufus & Coco one. ;) I don't like Aloveen at all

I agree with PF, the dog doesn't seem to have an obvious waist. When my golden looks like this, to me, it means she needs to go on a diet. However I can't see the 'roll of fat around the neck' :p Which pic are you referring to PF?

Triangle of temptation ETA to add the link

I think this is great advice TSD I am amazed how fantastic your dally's recall is and impressed that you were able to use everyday rewards (like the "release to piss" :D ) to get it :p I also wouldn't worry about using heaps of food Most of people tend to underpay their dogs anyway.

B9 these are pics!!!!!!!!!!!! She looks stunning, Bailey looks totally amazing too Thanks so much for posting them!!!! also congrats on great photos taking skills

I would get rid of the leash... work on stationary heel position (rewarding heaps and heaps) make one step reward the dog for staying in position (moving with you). Don't be scared to use the treats but don't lure her: keep the treats in your right hand, reward in position with your left hand.

I don't like to feed my dogs rawhide chews .... they are full of cr*p If you want lean stuff, how about raw roo tails?
-
now it's B9's turn

Also ADCQ (on the same ADAA website) :D

Have you done a thyroid check?
-
thanks heaps Teebs I found that the University of Sydney Veterinary Centre does them for about the same price too ( :p ) but now I want to make sure that the 3 year one is not some kind of super-vaccine that is containing heaps more antigens I also don't know if they use the Nobivac or Duramine (will have to call them to ask). Which one does the Bathurst vet offer? ETA: we train in agility etc so I need to either have a current titer test or a vaccination cert
-
I know exactly what you mean I used to titer test in Brisbane because it wasn't 3 times more expensive than the vaccination. But I can't afford to pay $180 x 2 (coz I have two dogs) for titer testing in Sydney It's also very hard to find kennels that do accept titer tests. Not that we use this option often but I do need to know that if there is an emergency (ie I have to see my parents in Europe asap) I can put them in a kennel for a week or two. However finding a vet that does offer a 3 year vaccine seems to be almost as hard as finding one that would titer test anyway I called about 20 vets last week any only 2 offered the 3 year vaccination, one of them for $160 :p

no idea, i have asked 3 different vets about it, all around the same price, or heaps more. None here are interested in it at all :p I had exactly the same problem Teebs

You can get more info about Artemis here http://www.artemispetfood.com.au/ For your large breed pup I strongly recommend the Large breed puppy one You can get samples of Artemis to see if your dogs like it. I know some people here will come and say Eagle Pack or RC are better though.... I think Artemis has superior ingredients and I know heaps of dogs and pups (even large breed) doing great on it (definitely better than on RC ). Again it's the matter of what suits your dogs best :p

Yes that is what I was worried about, it seems the more research etc I do the more confusing it gets...........guess i will just have to try a couple of different good quality foods until i find one that agrees with them........i was looking on a dog food review website which rated foods from1 through to 6 star, 6 being the best and advance was a 1 star!!!!!!!! Was a bit shocked about that cos it is sold at the vet clinic and classed as a "super premium quality food!!" so yeah.... i now have more of an idea what i do and don't want in a food re ingredients and how to read the ingredient listing so will now start experimentng :p wish me luck and thanks to everyone for your input Good luck! I do think there are better foods out there than Advance In terms of ingredients, Artemis and Evo are the best dry food available in Australia.

That's right, that's why I also add EPO :p

Thanks stormie!!! Btw does your boss offer the Intervet Nobivac one? Where are you located? (Please PM me if you prefer

$200+ thats so expensive. Any idea how they break down the cost? I'm in Brisbane and it costs a little over $90 for my vet to do it. She sends the blood via QML to the lab in Perth. My normal vet won't promote the 3yr vac either, for the concern that people won't bring their dogs in for yearly check-ups. The hollistic vet does the 3yr or titre, because her clients are in on a regular basis anyway and she trusts them to bring the dogs in annually. It's interesting to see that there may not be a great difference between the 1yr and 3yr vacs. I am in Sydney and am also having trouble finding a vet that would titer test for less than $170... most don't know what it is and the ones that do know come up with exorbitant prices. FYI the $170 was going to the US and they didn't want to know that they can send it to WA :p In Brisbane I had my titer tests done for $60 including a consult

The general guideline (for dogs) is 1 fish oil capsule (1000mg) / 5kg I would start adding just 1-2 for the 15kg one and 2-4 for the 23kg one and see how you go
