  1. You need a saw to cut it. If you have the time, take it to your nearest butcher and ask if they could cut it up for you on their machine. It will take them 2 seconds. Yep I always ask my butcher a well
  2. I would recommend to cut the frozen mince into more manageable pieces and defrost one by one.
  3. I got heaps of stuff from oversees and never had to pay duty/ tax when the items arrived.
  4. You should switch it gradually (10% of the new stuff on the 1st day 20% on the 2nd day etc). It takes about 4-6 weeks to the the difference (in coat etc) after switching. I think EP is very good, EP holistic even better.
  5. I agree that it's always the best to go to the vet you and your dog know. However some people decide not to desex their dogs because it's too expensive ( ), in which case it's good to know that there are cheaper options. I am very lucky since the AWL clinic is very close to our place and it's been our vet from the beginning. They are really nice and don't mind me calling them whenever I have any questions.
  6. Yep, I agree as well. It's not good to feed raw and dry food in the same time. I do think that adding bones is very good for their teeth though. Edited to add: A few months ago I asked a question on this forum: If Feeding Super Premium Why Add Raw? http://forums.dogzonline.com.au/index.php?...=102619&hl= I got a lot of interesting answers
  7. I personally never look at the recommended dosage (OK I do look once to have a vague idea of what the recommended dosage is but I never follow it). I get the best feedback from my dogs after a week or two. If they are loosing weight I add more if they are putting on I decrease the amount of food I feed. It's usually quite a bit less than a recommended dosage anyway. I think adding chicken necks, wings, frames, marrow bones, sardines is the way to go.
  8. AWL clinics have very reasonable prices for desexing (around $130) and microchipping ($15).
  9. Did you buy these or can you make them? I know how they look like from a picture online but I was wondering if you can actually "make them" yourself.
  10. Hrm, once the two bags of food we have in the cupboard are gone, we might try swapping to another brand of puppy food gradually and see if that makes a difference. Yep, forgot to mention to always change the food gradually
  11. Can anyone share their creative ideas for scent discrimination objects made of wood, leather and metal for obedience training?
  12. I goes for puppy and adult food. Check out few of these websites for more info http://dogfoodanalysis.com/ and more specifically about rotating foods in: http://www.dogfoodanalysis.com/changing_foods.htm This one is also really good for general dog food info http://www.dogfoodproject.com/
  13. I think small breeds can be switched to adult type sooner than large breeds However in this case I would recommend to go to a different brand puppy food. It's recommended to switch dry food every couple of months (and rotate between two or three different ones) in case some of the nutrients are not assimilated very well with one type.
  14. Can anyone recommend good websites, books or DVDs for massage/stretching exercises for dogs who do agility, frisbee or long distance running? Thanks
  15. Is the "drills for blinds" the same as "for blind retrieves"? I am very intrigued what it means.
  16. Do you mean Tri-Tronic's retriever training by Jim Dobb? All the Tri-Tronic's books are about how to use Tri-Tronic's electric collar for gun dog training. I am looking for a book with a lot of drills as well but I don't want to use electric collar for that.
  17. Those who think that vaccinations are related to cancer, how often do you vaccinate your dogs?
  18. You should check out the Health / Nutrition / Grooming section. There is a lot of discussions about good dog food!
  19. Sorry can't help but for Leo Do you think it's traning injury? How often do you see a chiro?
  20. Where do you get them in Brissy!! I want to know as well!
  21. Congrats! Sorry to hijack your thread but does anyone know any field training clubs in Brisbane area? How do you train your dog for field trials? Is there a book you would recommend?
  22. I would definitely join a club in Brisbane as well! Please keep me updated and I would try to help setting it up as well :D
  23. Cut down on food gradually and make sure he is not eating anything extra (other dog's food, or treats). Exercise will help too. You definitely don't need to go on Hills diet if you don't want to and if you are sure what you are feeding him is a complete diet (by that I mean he is getting all the nutrients he needs).
  24. how do you know you get .4ml (and not .3 or .5 ml)?
  25. Is chicken carcass the same as chicken frame?
