How did you teach him to catch frisbee? Usually it's much harder to catch a frisbee than a tennis ball so yes you have broken bc Can he catch anything else apart from frisbee (food or other toys)?

A few rescue groups on DOL sell these really cheap. Will try to get their names.

I gave them the pig's head and they did LOVE it with no ill effects whatsoever. Highly recommended!

Has anyone read "Clicker Gundog"? Would you recommend it? How does it compare to "Positive Gun Dogs"?

Is the first ingredient dehydrated meat? If not once you get rid of water (during processing of the dry food) it stops being the first ingredient and falls way down the list.

Nutro, Nutrience, Eagle Pack, Innova, Natural Balance...

I agree. You need to decide what you want to feed your dogs (not the other way around) and you also probably need to read about what is healthy food for your dogs, because what you described IS NOT healthy dog food. This forum has a lot of info about what to feed your dogs. ETA I don't think anyone here can give you a diognosis. If you are concerned: go to the vet!

I would add fish oil and/or EPO to his diet

This website is very interesting. I was surprised how chicken only got 3/10, when it is so much advertised by Billinghurst and Lonsdale as being excellent RMB for dogs. I will need to do some more research about that

If their poo is white then you are feeding too much bone. If it is runny then they may need a little more bone. Usually my bones meals consist of chicken frames, duck necks, things like that. Not particularly meaty but they get lots of meat throughout the rest of the week. That's very useful info! Thanks. OK, mine have small, brown, solid poop that turns white after a day. I am guessing that's OK and it turns white because of the high protein content?

I am still confused about mince vs raw meaty bones (RMB). After doing quite a bit of research I was under impression that neither pure meat (mince) or pure bones are good for dogs. Rather RMB are important and should consist of 75% of the diet. The problem I have with RMB is how meaty are they? Esp things like: lamb necks or brisket bones... How can you ever estimate meat to bone ratio?

It all depends on what wormer you use. Sentinel Spectrum: once a month Drontal: what Norskgra said etc....

Are femur bones (beef or lamb) OK for dogs to eat?

Have you seen any improvement today or is it too early to tell?

As the owner of a Goldie I love this idea. In fact, to get him/her interested mayby a smelly "used" sock with a ball in it might be a good way to start. I will give it a go this weekend and will let you know how it goes :p

I emailed them about it actually and this it what I was told. The Orijen formulations are designed as Nature intended - food that the puppy or it's mother would naturally select if it had the choice. Protein builds muscle and is essential for healthy all-round development, but does not by itself accelerate growth. The major growth factors are - the genetic code, growth hormone, and bone minerals such as calcium and phosphorus. I actually did some research about it and there is no conclusive scientific data indicating that high protein content accelerates growth.

Since we talk about grain free dry foods, does any one know when is Orijen coming to Australia? When I emailed them they said: some time this year (2008)...

I agree, adding ACV to their water helps a lot

Maybe allergy? It's the season of itchy dogs now
