  1. My golden retriever seemed to have a similar problem (I think ). I washed her with EPO vet grade shampoo and then regular grade every 4 days (+ blow drying). It cleared in 2 weeks. (btw I did try Malaseb and it didn't help)
  2. Looks great and fast How did you attach the ball to the turning board?
  3. Sorry to be harsh, but I don't think you are listening to what a few people have said. I know you are spending the time you have with your dogs, but if you have active young dogs then all the exercise in the world is only going to get them fit and mean that they are going to be able to go for longer and be more destructive because they do so. You perhaps have to think about what you are doing with them. It's great you are playing with your pups, but if you want them to settle and sleep the night through then nothing beats training, training and more training. Don't think it has to be hard core obedience, it can be fun stuff like tricks or agility (OK, a base in obedience helps), or frisbee, what ever, just make them think. Chasing a soccer ball doesn't make them think, it gets them fit and wanting more. Don't get me wrong, I love nothing more than seeing a fit dog, but I work similar hours to what you do (just about to head home now in fact), but I'm out the door and off to flyball, then tomorrow morning we'll be working on freestyle frisbee - Friday night is our only night off some sort of structured training either at home or at a club and even then we will probably do something. It only has to be 10 or 15 minutes per dog, but make sure they are thinking. I totally agree with Reddii. I would also suggest mental stimulation above all. Maybe look into clicker training? When I teach my dogs with free shaping they have to think so much that they sleep for hours just after 5min of training My dogs are young but not destructive at all, mostly because of all the training (obedience, agility, flyball or frisbee) that we do every day.
  4. I am going to look for them this Sat at my local Woolies wish me luck :p
  5. Sentinel Spectrum: All intestinal worms including tapeworm. Heartworm. Fleas. Interceptor Spectrum: All intestinal worms including tapeworm. Heartworm.
  6. I never had problems with them. Always super fast service. Btw I never give the wormers on the exact day. It's always + few more days. But I buy ahead of time to avoid any problems (like the one you seem to have). Maybe you should call/email them and ask what is going on?
  7. I totally agree: safety first. Now that I know what the laws are, I would like to know how people trained for it. I guess the most important question would be: where did you bike? I am even more interested where people did it in SE QLD
  8. I totally understand, but how are we supposed to train the dogs if it's illegal to hold the leash? It's very strange ETA: Great pic poodlefan
  9. This is what I am confused about:
  10. Still want out too be half the price Why not reduce the amount of decent kibble you feed and substitute chicken frames - they are nice and cheap. Cheap dog foods are full of fillers. I'd rather feed less of a good one if price is an issue. I think it's a great idea!
  11. OK, I have been training for ET for about a month now. Mostly running 5 times a week but I wanted to include some biking as well. After reading the thread: http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?showtopic=130031 I am a little confused. How are you supposed to bike with your dog for ET?
  12. Mines love the Canine Complete Duck. I use it to fill up their Kongs. It's much better to feed them meaty bones than mince. It makes them chew and cleans their teeth. Much more natural for them. I only use the mince to fill up Kongs (that already contain one or two chicken necks) and to hide any medicines/wormers they might need (like Sentinel Spectrum).
  13. I am not sure how helpful this is but: http://www.caninecountry.com.au/ has amazing selection of raw meaty bones really cheap. I go there once a month and fill up my freezer I feed mines model pray diet. This is a very useful post by DeltaCharlie from this thread: http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?show...28030&st=45 about the raw diet, proportions and such:
  14. I am really sorry about your friend's dog :D , and I totally agree with you: you cannot solve aggression with aggression. Congrats about your training! Positive methods work wonders (although they can be much slower than other methods).
  15. Sorry, slightly off topic. But do all the breeds need ear plucking? I have a golden retriever and an aussie shepherd. The golden one seems to have quite a few of hairs in her ear or rather close to her ear canal.
  16. Quick update: we are now on once a week schedule as they stopped itching almost totally and there are no more itchy areas on their skin!!!! They are still on the supplement and we are going to continue with that. I am sooooooooooo happy

    Cant Wait?

In USA the problem is as serious as it is in Australia, if not worse. I lived in US for 6 years. Meg, please ask your auntie if she is a registered breeder and if her dogs had health checks (the dogs that she is breeding). There are people who know about breeding (the professionals) and these should be the only people who breed dogs. There are far too many dying every year because some families think it's cute to have a litter of puppies. Don't get discouraged. We just want to help you get the perfect pup!
  18. I am not sure how poisonous they are, but it's exactly the reason why I wasn't considering one. My two are playing all the time, so no collars for them unless we go for a walk.
  19. I am looking for an alternative way to protect my dogs from ticks. Right now they are on Advantix, but one of them seem to be sensitive/allergic to it. Who is using Proban? Has anyone had any problems with it?
  20. Thanks monsterpup I would really appreciate your help! I am trying to get as much info as I can :D It is very frustrating, I totally agree! Hi Laffi, The vet's name is Dr Esther Horton, from Indooroopilly Vet Clinic, tel (07) 38789766. I contacted her a couple of years ago, but I assume she is still there. I was told she was one of the first Aussie vets to do titre testing. Hope one of the contacts I or someone else has given is of use to you. I remeber when I was searching I felt like Thank you so much. This is actually quite close to us so it could be a great option.
  21. :D 150!!?!? I paid $44! Is there any place we can write to, I wonder, to the veterinary association in general, to voice our annoyance at all this? I think it's a great idea Tess! I don't know of any places but I would love to help Thanks monsterpup  I would really appreciate your help! I am trying to get as much info as I can It is very frustrating, I totally agree!
  22. ...and the vaccinations are the same. I have had this confirmed by the Qld uni and also two vets. Same vaccine, same everything. The only thing I can think of is that vets are charging more to cover their 'loss' for two years. I have heard of one vet who charges almost $150 for the "new" 3 year vaccine! Yeah my vet wouldn't agree that the vaccine last given was a three year one, so I looked up the vaccine company and their website said that the vaccine that my girl was given would last up to three years. Slightly off topic - does anyone know of any boarding kennels in/near Brissy that accept titre tests as well as vaccination certificates? Obviously I'd have to do kennel cough as an extra vaccine to please them. I was also quoted $150 for the 'special' 3 year vaccine I would also want to know about boarding kennels in/near Brissy that accept titre tests! I am going to start a new topic
  23. When I was enquiring about the titer test I also asked about the vaccinations and all the 5 different vets I asked told me the same
