  1. I think it depends on the club and how the classes are set up. I take two of my dogs for the agility classes. One of them is crated while I work with the other one and they are both crated when I am not working with them.
  2. I personally don't like the idea of increasing fat content to put on weight. High fat intake can cause a lot of problems such as pancreatitis. It's much better to increase the ratios of a balanced diet. So go from 3% to 4-5%. I also think that 26.5 kg on a female golden is a good weight unless she is very tall. My 2 yo female golden weights about 26-27 kg and she looks stunning. There is a lot f fat retrievers so maybe you are used to the look of them and therefore think that yours is too skinny. ETA To answer your question. I agree with huski: lamb flaps are very fatty.
  3. I switched to Artemis Max Dog and am very happy with it There are only few grain free dog foods in Australia: Artemis Max Dog, Evo and Ziwipeak. Evo is imported through PP so  Ziwipeak is great but too expensive for us So I decided to go with Artemis and am very happy about it. Btw before going on Orijen my golden was on RC and I would never go back to it. She had constant ear infections, smelly poops and lots of farting. Orijen was a huge improvement and Artemis seems to be equally good
  4. That looks interesting . How much does it cost per kg?
  5. I wish we could stay in Brisbane You will love ADCQ!
  6. The website gives the most updated list of courses. I think the form must be from our old structure of courses. (They had a lot of changes last year so not everything is updated yet). I would recommend to start with the basic training and then switch to the agility option later ETA OK I think that "basic training" and "basic agility training" start together but after 4 weeks or so people that want to agility will split from the rest of the group who just want to do basic training.
  7. Do you mean basic obedience training? If yes, there are no requirements. Most of the info is here: http://www.adcq.com.au/index.php?act=viewD...3#basictraining Please let me know if you have more questions. Btw I HIGHLY recommend ADCQ
  8. I didn't know there was a ADAC in NSW!!! :D is there a website with titles and events? My dream titles for 2009: Midge: AAD, AD, JD, maybe CD Laffi: BAD (only one more pass needed), AAD, JD, AD, maybe TD I would also get into retrieving with Laffi.
  9. I will definitely be able to come to the Sutherland club
  10. I was the same when I discovered them at the fish markets.I did buy them but my dogs wern't terribly impressed with them.2 dogs ended up eating them but the other one just layed beside it and wouldn't eat it I'm sure you'll be able to get them easily around Sydney at the fish markets. There's also www.justfood4dogs.com.au that delivers around Sydney that you'd be able to get fresh bones/mince delivered Hopefully they will eat them lol. I can get whole mullet for $2.99/kg so they get whole fish about once a week. They were not too thrilled at the beginning but now they love it so I hope they will eat the salmon heads as well :p Thanks heaps for the tip about www.justfood4dogs.com.au
  11. I know it's silly but I found some cheap salmon heads today for my lot and got so excited . I feed prey model diet and little new discoveries like this make me really happy Anyone else enjoying looking for new items to add to the diet? Btw I will be moving to Sydney in January so would really appreciate some butchers or other places recommendations.
  12. I thought it said preservative free on the packet Might have to go look now. It says preservative free (that's why they have to sell it frozen).
  13. I think they are awesome and my two LOVE them
  14. I agree ! With motivation and focus you can achieve anything! I strongly recommend Clean Run Special Edition Motivation, Drive & Self Control http://www.agilityclick.com/prod160.htm Clean Run is a magazine for agility lovers however I found that this special issue applies to all dogs sports I also think (although some people disagree) that clicker can be much more powerful than "yes". It definitely is for my dogs
  15. I want to start training asap as I know she will love it . I just don't think she is mentally ready to stay focused for all of the exercises.
  16. Does it work with someone who gets easily frustrated? Some days I wonder why I do all this when I get frustrated easy, but I love it when it goes right I've had no particular method in training what I have - Ruby's my first trained dog and I suppose in light of my lack of knowledge, we're doing pretty well! I just want to make it better and have a better foundation on training methods for my dogs in the future! I highly recommend clicker training and super short sessions (so you can't get frustrated lol). Laffi (my super distracted sniffer GR has so far earned 3/4 passes for her 1st agility title so clicker training definitely working for us This year we are going to seriously start obedience training but I don't want to trial with her this year (I think she is too young to enjoy it). I will continue with agility that she loves and will only add tracking this year (as she is a natural). ;)
  17. My golden retriever (almost 2yo now) used to be very distracted and her attention span was worse than that of a gold fish She is heaps better now and I can't recommend highly enough methods by Kay Laurence (Thanks LP for a great recommendation )
  18. I want that Tassie got ... *off to check out CR to look for more specials*. And I am so getting the iSqueak balls I love Shaping Success! I think I read it at least 5 times and came back to read some bits of it millions of times ETA I don't want to know anything about the new Greg Derrett's DVD
