Why would SG/GD not work for your slower dog? SG is awesome at the structured training to work on dog's motivation (which by the way has nothing to do with handling system). Her crate games are awesome for that! I found that CR magazine and yahoo group are the best in terms of learning and asking technical questions about handling systems.

I don't think working dogs are any different than other dogs in terms of weight-loss tips. You just need to feed less and exercise more

Ok I want to start tracking with my dogs (we did a little bit but I want to seriously get into it and be able to compete). As far as I understand there is a couple of ways for the dog to indicate the article (down, sit, pause (LOL) and retrieve according to the ANKC rules). I am tempted to teach the retrieve. Has anyone else used that one in tracking? Any suggestions/tips? Thanks! ETA: In trials, are articles mostly gloves/socks or are other items used as well?

That's correct. Wrong entry is a fault. In ADAA at starters level you can still try again and if your dogs enters the second time correctly and weaves 12 weaves correctly it will be counted as a clean run. However at higher levels the dog has to enter the weaves correctly the first try and weave 12 weaves in order to successfully complete this obstacle. So a missed entry at higher levels would be a fault and NQ.

There is only one correct way to enter the weaves: on the right side of the first pole (so color blue in your pic). That's probably the hardest thing in weave training: training the right entry from hard angles. ETA the red would count as a fault: missed entry as the dog missed the first pole

Seems like my aussie shep is injured as she is refusing the jumps . The local vet couldn't determine what was wrong with her and just gave some painkillers and told me to rest her for a couple of weeks. That didn't really help as she still refused to jump today after 2 weeks of rest So I need a recommendation of a good chiro/vet who is knowledgeable about agility/sport dogs Thanks so much!

I want to condition agility with the most exciting thing ever, so I only train when they are most excited, like when I come back from work.
