  1. Draw an imaginary line on the grass (between two trees to help you). Put the poles so the center between each them is always on this line. You always throw the reward on/along the line regardless where the poles are (how open they are) and where the dog is coming from. On her PDF the reward line is always where you throw the toy. Ideally you try to throw it along the line to make it clear for the dog to go on this line. Her DVD is really good to illustrate this.
  2. That's right From the beginning, with just two poles, you reward on the same line and start varying the entries. It really helps to visualize this line and throw the toy/food on that line. If the dog understands the line of reinforcements it's easy to start moving the poles.
  3. OK at the beginning the weaves are open so the line doesn't look like the normal line you are used to. Then you start closing the weaves (rotating so they are closer and closer to the normal line you are used to). The line doesn't change but the poles are not aligned with it at the start; they are open so the dog gets used to the easiest line before making it harder and closing the poles. Does it make sense ?
  4. The reinforcement line never changes. It's always the line that the poles form if they are/were straight.
  5. I lot of people on this forum don't feed innova because you can only get it though PP. That's probably why no one is answering your post. Innova is very high in protein, so it probably upset her tummy. It's a very rich food and should be introduced very gradually. I actually don't think innova is suitable for puppies. Not because of the high protein content (that used to worry people because of some misleading studies) but because calcium to phosphorous ration is not adequate for growing pups. How old it your dog?
  6. I think beet pulp is an average quality fiber in dog's food. In the ingredients list posted above it was very high up the list, before fat even if I remember correctly. I like feeding my dogs nutritious foods for carnivores: rich in high quality proteins and fats. If I wanted to add fiber to their diet I would just feed them more fruits and veggie since they can only partially digest these.
  7. I free shape everything I can (sit, down, jumping (jump, tire, long jump), contacts, weaves (through 2x2), stays, heeling, ....). I never had a problem. However I only work on one thing during one session. So my criterias are clear for the dog. Sue H said at her seminar that the free shaped behavior is the strongest one. I definitely agree
  8. I am not a big fan of pushing the dog into the right position. I would definitely lure it or just mark it with a clicker when they are about to lie down.
  9. Do you know what the difference is? Is it something that is not available in Australia?. Seems strange to me that they would manufacture under the name Nutro with different ingredients If it was exactly the same as that previously imported, I would change back like a shot, but am concerned at what the difference may be Well you can see the difference from the posts above listing the ingredients for the US one and the one made in Australia. Dried beet pulp (filler) made it to # 4 before the chicken fat. This doesn't look very good .
  10. I suggest you do a few searches on youtube.... endless clips of dog tricks and some with great instructions how to teach them.
  11. I have given my dogs pig heads before. I just don't like finding pig's teeth in the garden
  12. Yep me too and the salt content too. Sorry but I don't think raw pork has high salt content. Pork can be fat but it can be lean too, just like beef. You pay more for less fat/better quality pieces. Ah ok, I wasn't sure TBH - you hear so many different things about meat to feed dogs, I've not found good raw meaty pork bones as easily as I have found lamb, chicken, turkey or beef so I've never had to worry about it! I don't feed dried treats like pig ears or snouts either. I agree. It's quite hard to find good raw meaty pork bones.

  14. My cat and my golden retriever also had constant ear infections until I totally eliminated the grains from their diet So now they are on mostly raw with Artemis Maximal dog (no grains one).
  15. great one ness! Laffi (my golden) goes nuts when she sees me playing with my other dog
  16. What a great topic Here is how I worked with my golden retriever to increase her drive: 1) only a few toys are available for her during the day; none of them are high value toys I use in training (squeaky balls, sheepy tug toys, etc) 2) I only play/train when she is excited (so when I get from work for example or after a swim); I never even attempt anything if she is sleepy/tired. I always stop before she switches off. So our initial sessions where only 5-10 secs long. 3) during initial stages all the food I gave her was used in training (so she didn't get anything for free or from her bowl) 4) hungry dog will get excited about food, so I wouldn't feed her the day before our training session in the club 5) I experimented with toys to find the ones she really likes. Every dog is different and I think it's worth investigating what really turns your dog on. 6) Since she is more food motivated I started using food pouches as a toy to throw and make her go forward (very useful in agility). She loves them more than getting food from my hand and it really increased her speed and drive in more distracting environments where she wouldn't tug as well for example.
  17. I have used 2x2 method with both of my dogs with great success. Can you be more clear about your question? I don't think SG is luring at any stage in the DVD. She is quick at rewarding the right decision which may look like luring. I would work on the drive (food or toy) before starting weave training or any training for that matter. I don't work/train my dog if my dog isn't 100% switched on. If it means my session is going to be 20 sec long (or short lol) so be it.
  18. I feed my dogs salmon heads and whole mullets. Never had any problems . My butcher wouldn't sell me pork when I said it's for my dogs . There is a lot of misconception about what dogs should and shouldn't eat . Do your research and decide for yourself .
  19. Great! :D I was getting worried they were taking longer than they were supposed to.
  20. How many people need to show interest for the seminar to take place? Ohhhh I would love so much to see her
  21. I don't vaccinate my dogs, I titer test. If I had to vaccinate it would only be C3. I don't care about the brand though.
  22. Have sent the packages to PAX, Whitka, Ptolomy (+RS) and 4 PAWS
