  1. Monica Segal (from USA) had most of the foods analyzed for their Ca:p content (like turkey necks, chicken wings etc). She has a yahoo group called K9Kitchen, she also wrote a couple of books on dog nutrition.
  2. Thank you so much The Spotted Devil BTW I CAN'T WAIT to meet you in May when I come over to Melbourne :p
  3. What item is usually thrown (is it a bumper)? Do you bring your own item/bumper? Where can you get bumpers in Australia?
  4. I do titer tests with my agility dogs. Never had any problems with it. The vet that I went to in QLD charged $65 for annual checkup and titer test.
  5. I don't believe yearly vaccinations are good for dogs anyway.
  6. If the dog is on your left why do you want to send from the right? are you executing a turn?
  7. Elementary - Simple course design; no weave poles, tyres, spread jumps or seesaw. Rate of travel in these events is 2 metres/sec. Dogs must be IP or RP registered. Dogs with an BAAD, AAD, SAAD, R-SAAD, MAAD or R-MAAD title are excluded from this level. Starters - Same as Elementary except includes weave pole where errors may be corrected without penalty. Rate of travel in these events is 2 metres/sec. Dogs must be IP or RP registered. Dogs with an AAD, SAAD, R-SAAD, MAAD or R-MAAD title are excluded from this level. You can see some of Reddii's youtubes with CK so see what to expect: http://www.youtube.com/user/CKandXena (I hope Reddii doesn't mind me posting this link )
  8. where is the dog on your left or right? anyway you use the threadle to avoid going to the wrong entry, is that correct? so for a second imagine there is no wrong entry, there is only one, correct entry; which arm do you use to direct the dog to that correct entry?: that's the arm you should use to send the dog to the runnel threadle arm will be then the opposite arm, that you use to redirect the dog from the wrong entry does it make sense?
  9. I would probably go back to the dry food and add slowly one type of meat at the time (so for a couple of weeks you just add turkey etc). I would probably start with something other than chicken just to see if she can handle raw meat nicely. Don't add any other things (like treats etc) while you are testing for food sensitivities. I think your first goal should always be to settle her tummy.
  10. Maybe you introduce all these different foods too fast? Does your dog chew on the raw meaty bones or does how just swallow them whole? It's important they chew them as big bone pieces can cause indigestion. What is the meat ingredient in the Eagle Pack that you used? If it's chicken and your dog doesn't have problem with Eagle Pack, I doubt raw chicken would be the problem.
  11. These pics are FANTASTIC! My fave ones are: Panda, Lacey, Polly, Polly and Piglet
  12. I try to do as many practice trials as I can (ideally more than real ones). It's important to stop and reward dog if they do something awesome (like distance work, great weaves, contacts etc) so they never learn that the ring means no rewards.
  13. Sorry just curious, what are "weekly anti-arthritis shots"? Do you mean pain killers like cartrophen?
  14. You can start training as soon as you get the pup Price depends on the breeders, quality of parents etc. Why don't you contact some reputable breeders with your query?
  15. I think it's pretty good. I think Artemis has better ingredients. Why do you cook mince ?
  16. wow how cute are they! some of them have been practicing some sumersault rolling
  17. Artemis large breed puppy should be much better than Eagle Pack large breed puppy because of its superior ingredients.
  18. Excellent post! I am so sick of vets prescribing stuff without a diagnosis . lovemypooch: find a vet that is willing to DIAGNOSE your dog asap..
  19. I agree with PF Artemis is great food so I would stick to it. I would only add raw meaty bones (like chickens/turkey wings, roo tails. I would get rid of anything else; maybe except of BARF patties. I would probably keep these, but I would make sure I am not feeding too much of anything.
  20. people I have bad news for you: by the time my visit at LP's ends there will be no pups left  so let her enjoy it while it lasts
  21. When i was overseas in Bali people who had dogs would feed mainly rice diets to their dogs. They were fine. Also, vegatable oil is fine to feed but omega oils are better. Dogs can survive on a lot of crap. Doesn't mean it's good for them.
  22. I find the easiest to just imagine I am trying to feed them a whole animal (like a whole lamb or a whole chicken). That's how I decide how much meat/bone/offal to feed because it's the most natural balance. In reality I can't feed them whole lamb but I try to still maintain similar ratios. If you follow BARF you also want to add some pulped fruits and veggies. To address your specific diet: chicken carcasses are great for bones but you still need to add more meat. Hearts are great muscle meat. Kidneys and liver (offal) are excellent but not more than ~10% of the whole diet.
  23. It took my golden retriever about 2 weeks to learn when she was 8weeks old. So by 10 weeks she would hold it all night. I think that I continued to wake her up at 2-3am for a week more but then I stopped and never had to do it again.
