  1. Friday night update - Jed remains ventilated and sedated, but there has been some improvement today.
  2. Once again today, there are no changes or improvement to report. Jed remains heavily sedated and ventilated. We need to be patient as it appears there is a very long road ahead.
  3. No change in Jed's condition tonight. Thanks for all the support
  4. Some small setbacks today..... Jed is still sedated and being ventilated. No idea at this point when she might be awake. Please, please keep the candles burning A small blessing, an unhurt cat was found at the house today.
  5. No changes to report . She is still ventilated, though sedation has been lightened a little. Will let you know if there is any changes. edit to say, this was from late last night but have been a bit weary and busy at work. sorry for delay.
  6. Leslie, such a harrowing two days for you. I am so thankful Jane has such a wonderful freind nearby, and I could never thank you enough for all you have done, and are still doing, for her and her beloved dogs. RIP Magnus, The Best Cocker Spaniel In The World. A true legend of this forum, I fell in love with you many years ago and have taken so much enjoyment from all the stories of your exploits. Such a character, and always described in such beautiful and colourful detail by your Mum. May there be lots of Smurfs to hunt over the bridge....
  7. Pet Edge in the US have a flexible slicker that a few of us have tried and it is fine. Fraction of a the cost of Les Pooch. Knots glide out, it is easier on the dog's skin and easier on your arms. For combs - Spratts from Diamond Edge in the UK.
  8. Had not heard of Feather Edge but just had a look and their prices are great! Am trying to upload a pic of my gold boy to show you his coat, but Photobucket is down. He was desexed at 6 months and his coat changed immensely in the following months. I tried to strip it out with the coat King but it was hopeless - really thick and fluffy, and so now I clip their backs (had two girls go the same after desexing) and leave their feathering, so they still look like Cockers.
  9. I take it your dogs are entire? If so, there is always hope. In my experience it is removing their hormones that causes coats to become overly thick, wayward and wooly. I have clipped entire dogs and known others who have done so, and been able to put the dogs back in the ring when the coat grows back. it does depend on the coat though. Have you tried handstripping? Sorry, but I have to disagree with you there.
  10. I can't see any use for the faster speed unless you have very heavy coats to clip, and you won't have if you have your own clippers and keep on top of it. My original set was single speed and they were more than adequate. Not tried the steel combs, I pretty much stick to my number ten blades for nearly everything.
  11. I like Wahl. Have just replaced my original set that lasted 8 years (actually still running, but I wanted to upgrade) and did many many cocker clips with them. My new ones are the Wahl KM2 and they are lovely to use. Excellent service from http://www.coastalsharpening.com.au/ this time, and they repair and service as well. They run very quietly and give a very smooth clip. For pets I would reccommend the single speed.
  12. it's 40.3 here right now Holy shit, glad I didn't enter I'm not glad you didn't enter. I think I am glad I DID enter. 31.7 here :D
  13. I made a cool mat with the extra large blue gel thingies. I froze them and put them in pillow cases. My dog thought they were wonderful! Add the crate fan, the spray bottle of ice water and he hardly got a chance to even pant :D
  14. Well I went and I am glad I did. Sure it was warm, but you get that in summer! Just need to look after our dogs and ourselves.
  15. Why would you let a vet get away without giving the pups a full once over? That is part of the having a vaccination done and no vet should give a vacc without doing it. Even if checked after birth I would want them done again before they go. My pups all went with vet certificates declaring they had been examined and were healthy, vacc, and microchipped. Sorry I don't get it, and I also don't get why anyone would want to do their own vaccinations.
