When I spoke to Petceutics they said that it does not matter, they have put the proforma on their website to help customers out. My vet insisted on using their own format. I was told that as long as it is a legitimate prescription, I am pretty sure that is all that matters so that they can legally dispense the medication. Hope this helps, but for you own peace of mind, if you call them between 10am and 5pm (I think) monday to friday, I have found them very helpful, they are also very quick with getting back to you if you lodge a query through their website.

Oops sorry, yes we are going to phone around and find out if we can find another vet that will put all medication on the one script, $64 every couple of months kind of eats up the savings - maybe not all but a big chunk... Our dog is on maintenance medication, there is nothing else that they can give him, we now just have to make sure he has a good quality of life, so as I mentioned before, the only thing we need from the vet is really peace of mind check up every so often until the time comes and we have to make the decision - hopefully not for a very very long time.

You don't have to change vets, we are still continuing with the same vet for monitoring and regular check ups but I refuse to pay their prices for the medication. Be aware that the medication that petceutics sells is in larger quantities as they cannot break boxes (so check with them before you get your vet to write up the script. They have told me that they will be starting to try and get the word out in Western Australia very soon, now that they have recieved approval - so spread the word, maybe the vets might get a bit scared and actually bring their prices down to match petceutics.... But I know when my vet tries to sell me a compounded pimobendan for more than it cost to get the genuine product that there is no way they would drop their prices so drastically. Good luck.

Hi, Our lovely boy Coco was diagnosed with a heart murmur at the age of 4, he is now just over 7 and is on a concoction of medication, basically just to keep him alive - he is in good spirits, still happpy, just can't do what he wants to do as much. The medications he is currently on is Pimobendan (Vetmedin), Fortekor, Frusemide and also Spironalactone. As his condition his worsened his medication doubled, the monthly bill went from around $200 to $400 a month (we did not have pet insurance ). I have since found a site called www.petceutics.com.au. They are a registered pharmacy and have just in the last couple of weeks received permission to start selling to Western Australia. The result is my medication bill has gone from $400 a month to $155 a month – the same medication, same brand, same strength. It took some persuading to get my vet to write out the scripts, then they happily charged me $16 for each medication even though they could have put them all on the one script which is available on the petceutics website… I guess they are still a bit reluctant to give up the cash cow so easily. I tried to inform them of this site so that the could inform other clients, especially pensioners who may be struggling to afford medication to keep their loved ones alive, but they were not interested… so I am on a quest to let as many people know as possible. So I hope this helps some people who may be struggling with the high cost of heart medication for our little darlings. Good Luck
