11 Things That Humans Do That Dogs Hate
Flashsmum replied to sheena's topic in General Dog Discussion
Harry loves hugs, Whitney not really. Each dog is different and we all know our own dogs. It's good advice for kids and dog novices, though. I need a "LIKE" button! -
What Stupid Stuff Do You Say To Your Dogs?
Flashsmum replied to Little Gifts's topic in General Dog Discussion
I've always talked to all of our pets, probably because Mum & Dad did it as well. Our neighbour has a cat, and when they go away I look after her. The first time she asked me to do it, she said that she felt comfortable that I would take good care of their cat because she hears me talk to our dogs and chooks all the time, and her cat (and chooks) need to be talked to as well as they would be sad if no one was there to talk to them. It made me feel good that she was willing to leave her babies in my care while she went away for about 4 weeks :) I'm always telling Harry he is the bestest boy dog in the world, and Whitney that she is loved and she is in a safe place (she's a bit anxious with storms and loud noises)and nothing bad will happen to her. Also, I tell them what they're having for dinner, and whether they can some of our leftovers, and anything else that pops into my pea brain! -
This is a photo of Whitney - great dane. On the weekend we were at a local market with her and Harry (greyhound) and a guy asked me if she was an Irish Wolfhound cross! Also got asked if she was a wiemaraner which isn't unusual because of her colour. One lady asked if she was crossed with something as she is so small (about 54kgs), which is also pretty common with her. Harry, on the other hand, got lot's of cuddles and comments on his green collar and not wearing a muzzle. There was also a beautiful ridgeback there that I got to pat :) Love seeing pure bred dogs around as around here there a lot of small oodles.

Such a lovely story and ending. He looks so happy, and I think he's landed on his feet. -
Good on you for getting the word out there. I am lucky in that where we walk our dogs there are rarely any loose dogs around. Hugs to you all again, and I hope Maddie can recover emotionally.

How cute :) -
Glad your injuries aren't serious, and healing vibes to Maddie and Stan. You can only do your best, don't get to a point where the stress gets too much.

Oh no I only saw this today as I have been away. How awful for you and Stan & Maddie. Healing vibes to you all and hugs and licks. I, as others, also am soooo angry that people don't take responsibility for keeping their dogs contained, and someone innocent suffers for it. I know it could b e an accident, but an accident that should not have happened. If you need anything, just ask. Also, it seems it's your birthday

You did well as others have said. We can't always be the saviours, but the ones who try should be thanked and applauded, like you!
