We have one that says "Yes, we have a dog" and it has a picture of a big dog leaning up against tree and a smirk on it's face.

That's so great! I love the mystery of it as well.

Does Your Dog Get "depressed"?
Flashsmum replied to Pretty Miss Emma's topic in General Dog Discussion
When Flash died, Harry was "depressed" for quite a while afterwards. He only got a little excited when going for a walk, and even that was more sedate than usual, he slept in our bedroom a lot, he didn't eat as heartily as usual, and just lay around a lot of the time. He seemed to be missing Flash and fretted (is that a word??) when he was left on his own. He's never really had seperation anxiety, but developed it then. Once Whitney came to live with us, it seemed to lift him out of it, even though we didn't get her until we felt that he was already getting more like his old self, but she certainly made a difference. -
We have mostly the same rules, apart from Whitney having to sit and settle before she has her lead or harness put on her, because she jumps around like loony if she can! She is also let off lead in appropriate areas, but Harry isn't as his greyhound instinct kicks in and he runs! Usually Whitney finishes her treat first, so she is not allowed to steal Harry's. He does sometimes get protective of it, but if he doesn't eat it, it gets taken away after about 20 mins so that Whitney can't steal it. They don't fight over food, so are fed together, and when they've finished they check each other's bowls out. Having two breeds with similar temperaments makes it easy to have the same rules for both dogs. This worked with our previous dane and Harry as well.

My Dog Took Sick Yesterday With A Mystery Illness
Flashsmum replied to jase293's topic in General Dog Discussion
Glad he's okay. Gotta love those staffy smiles -
I heard about this in Feb, and called GAP, who said that the final details had not been refined, and that it depende on the Liberals getting in. Maybe now it will move forward, and they will decide who can do the testing, etc. I will be getting Harry tested ASAP, and hopefully he won't have to wear his muzzle all the time!

Danes and greyhounds also suffer from this ailment. They think that they should be lap dogs, be allowed to stand up in the sedan (scrunched up doggies are NOT good if you're trying to drive), and that they can fit next to you in the smallest of spaces. Any idea of a cure? They even share a bed, when they have one each!

LOVE this one. I was trying to think of something. I also love this one, and it's so true! This is Harry to a tee!

Hubby and I made a couple of phone calls, and this is what we were told. I hope that dogs assessed in other states can be included without re-testing. I can't wait until we can have Harry assessed. Our Harry was race trained apparently, but was too slow. He doesn't care about the cats wondering in our yard, but is interested in our chooks (has never been allowed to run with them), so I would want him assessed before having him unmuzzled. I believe he would pass a test, but would want someone with more experienced than me to judge that. Hopefully I can have that opportunity here in NSW, and have him walking around without the muzzle. He would not be off lead unless, like now, he is in a fully enclosed area and safe from cars, etc. He used to have a penchant for just running as fast as he can, now that he's older, he has better recall, but I wouldn't want to risk it. I'm waiting with baited breath for more news!

Holiday Spots Near Quiet Dog Friendly Beaches/forests Walks.
Flashsmum replied to julzjc's topic in General Dog Discussion
We stayed at Pether Cottage in Talbingo, with a great dane, greyhound and Alaskan malamute and four adults. There are beds for 8 or ten people. Talbingo is a small village near Tumut, and is at the bottom of the Snowy Mountains, on the Selwyn side. We used to camp in the area, but decided on a rental house this time, and it was great. There's a lot of pine forest around, and the lakes are right there. You can find it here: http://www.stayz.com.au/9179 -
