  1. Just saw this, and YYYYAAAAAAYYYYYY. Good vibes coming for a complete recovery.
  2. Check with council, as I think it may be incorrect unless the dog has been declared dangerous.
  3. I hope Fur Panto is getting better, and human Panto is coping. More hugs and heaps of "get better" vibes being sent.
  4. Just saw this, hugs and good wishes from me and slobbers and licks from Whitney and Harry to both of you xo
  5. I am NOT showing that to Harry
  6. So sorry Kirislin. I am glad you feel you did the right thing and there are no second thoughts. It was like that with our Flash, and we planted a white waratah for her, so may the fig tree grow well. Hugs to you.
  7. Thinking of you. X-rays are a good idea, and then do what you feel is best. Hugs
  8. Glad it has now passed, the situation and the remains of it! Bloat is awful. Hopefully you'll never have to go through it with any of yours.
  9. I didn't get on yesterday to see this, soooooo glad she is feeling better. Hugs to you all, and healing vibes from Harry & Whitney as well.
  10. Another random fact - they LOOOOOVVVEE stuffies - a supply of stuffed toys MUST be available  Both the danes we've lived with have loved their stuffed toys. Both were/are female, so maybe not an issue with boys. If the current girl can't find her own stuffy, mine get stolen.
  11. I use the auto sprays in our back room which is an inside/outside area with shade cloth for about 70com at the top of the walls, and they work well. The spray disperses as there is plenty of airflow, and not many flies at all event though we BBQ out there and have a pizza oven, and usually eat out there in the summer.
  12. I have been told that it's ok to leave on when we're not there, but I never do. Harry (greyhound) would overheat, and Whitney (great dane) seems to get out of any coat I've put on her when we're not there! They're in the house if we're not at home, so can't run away.
  13. Harry, our greyhound, took about 3 months to grieve for Flash, great dane, after she passed. We walked him in different places, and tried to be upbeat (which helped us as we had Harry to distract us from the crying!). He is an "emotional" dog, and seems to be affected by circumstances around him, so I wasn't surprised it took so long. After about 3 months, he regained his sense of humour and started getting to be a clown again, and that's when we knew he was going okay. Time is the best healer, even though that sounds trite.
  14. It worked on Harry pretty much from the beginning, but Whitney took a few goes. It works on her now, but she is an anxious soul and also has meds to calm her. The meds only weren't enough, but with the thunder shirt they work much better. We are hoping to get her off the meds eventually, but while she needs them she'll get them. Try a few more times before you give up on it, and good luck!
  15. I'm naïve enough not to have thought of this happening! Makes me sad that people do such things
  16. My eyes are leaking!! Thank you for the wonderful, uplifting story and photos
  17. I voted 2 dogs, both scared. Our first dane Flash didn't care about storms or fireworks, was really chilled. Harry the greyhound came along, was a bit scared, but took his cues from Flash and became very settled with storms. We fostered a grey called Rocco, who was frantic with storms, so both Flash and Harry became so bad they had to be medicated. After Flash went and we got Whitney, Harry settled quite a bit and a thunder shirt helps him settle, so only slight panting and being wary, although after a while he goes to sleep unless it's really loud. On the other hand, Whitney is soooo frantic that twice when weren't at home, she has jumped the fence and escaped. The last time there wasn't even a storm, but some work was being done nearby and there had been a loud bang, so off she went. She is an anxious dog anyway, so now they get locked in the house or got to my Mum's when we are out, and she is on meds to try and alleviate her anxiety in general. No storms since the meds started, so still to see how she goes. The scariest thing is that she is so frantic when she gets over the 5.5 foot fence, she just bolts
