We Started Agility Last Night
Maverick replied to Tawnydal's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
I have been doing agility for almost 4yrs now and watch out, it is terribly addictive. -
Hey Vickie.. I have got some good notes from the Susan Garrett seminar if you are interested. She had some great exercises for jumping. Maverick scored a 6.5 for his jump technique (which was fantastic as 6.5 I think was the highest score given). The only time he knocks bars is when he is sore or I put him off.

where abouts are you ? My OH made all our equipment. He now has a standard rate for weave bases as he gets sooo many requests for them.

We currently have a wall with all our ribbons on.. Eddy set one up but it is now full. With the horse ribbons, the placings get thrown out or returned to the society. I keep the champs, Reservs and Royal placings. Doggie ones, I tend to take the voucher if offered instead of a ribbon. If not they go into a big box.

Thanks Vickie & Sidoney Very proud of my boy.. I keep replaying the run through my head.. Even Mai getting her first pass in Masters Agility.. That was a buzz also.. I needed a day like yesterday Going to enter Hawkesbury at the end of November now.

Karen Pryor Clicker Training Seminar
Maverick replied to Axel's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
I would be interested.. depends on cost tho! -
If you are not planning on showing and your dog is very active outdoors type, then clip... Both my cockers are clipped with feathering left and they look great. They will never be show dogs again but it is far easier to manage and are definately better off without the coats as they are agility dogs.

How To Reduce Scaring, Creams Etc ?
Maverick replied to Maverick's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I use Ungvita on the ponies... His stitches are bright blue and are very tough. I was told I couldn't get them wet. He looks a bit like Frankenstine at the moment. I have a bit of vaseline at home. Might try a bit of that tonight. A friend of mine is using Manuka honey on a open wound on a horse. -
How To Reduce Scaring, Creams Etc ?
Maverick replied to Maverick's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Can I put aloe on it while the stitches are in ? or will they disolve ? It has healed very well. -
My boy Maverick has just had an operation and now has stitches across his head. Once the stitches come out, I want to know if there is anything I can put on it to help with the healing and reduce scaring. Many thanks!

I gather the swimmers turn is when they push off from the box ? I have always wanted to do flyball.... Maverick loves the machine and will quite happily run up to it and hit it for the ball. Learnt this after 2 goes at it. Just finding the time to get to Parramatta...

My cocker boy suffers yucky ears but usually it depends on what I am feeding him. Just found out that Hill's Science Diet makes his ears worse. Changed to Supercoat (special white bag) and viola, no more yucky ears. I like Leo ear cleaner myself..
