Whats The Worst Your Dog Has Done To Hurt You

Broken heart when we had to PTS my old Cocker boy. -
Congratulations And Criticisms
Faolmor replied to SkySoaringMagpie's topic in General Dog Discussion
I have always tried to congratulate our competition - when we have it - even if it hasn't always been returned! But I still think it's the nice thing to do. Ring-storming tanties help no one. (Though they are always good for a laugh!) -
so...the judge was not a gun dog person then?

Your boy looked lovely Faolmor.... Thought it was between him and the English Springer for the class yesterday as they were both shortlisted but nope... :D Anyway, tonight's BIS was the GSP, and Runner Up was the Rotty. I think the Baby was the Chow (go Aslan!) but didn't see for sure and left just as that class was judged - I am pooped! My Moose was a good boy again tonight winning BOB but nothing else. Finally got to meet SparkyTansy ;), and had a nice night chatting to people... will see how I feel about going back to watch tomorrow. Off to bed now LOL Yes - a bit bummed by that one. Oh well - it's how the showing cookie crumbles! Perhaps if Fionn had moved less like a sack of wet potatoes, he might have had a better chance

My handsome Irish boy won BOB last night and was short-listed to final 4 (?) for BIG I'm just so proud of how good he's looking at the moment! Of course, then he blew it by being a sulky poohead and wouldn't move. Course...maybe if the *cough* handler had taken him to the toilet, he may have been more comfortable... If anyone would like to give "Mr Dreadlock" a slap upside the head next time they see him, feel free. That's what happens when you send your OH to the show alone

Not saying anything about the dogs who were non awarded as I wasn't there, but IMO there should be more non awarding going on. There are too many dogs in the ring which are really pet quality and they should not be awarded first places. And massive congrats to the judges who also refuse challenges to these dogs aswell.

I'm not going. I have to play nurse to my poor, miserable, cold-ridden child. OH has taken the dog down by himself (shock, horror). I'm a bit scared about what will happen when he gets the hairbrush out... Please...someone...help him brush my dog!!!

Me too. Just hoping I don't give it to mini-me!
-
Gone and got myself a nice dose of flu right before the show. Yay.

I'm just happy to be going to a show for the first time in ages Don't worry about the "pro" puppies. Just focus on having fun with your boy. Any judge who expects babies to be perfect robots is being unrealistic and unfair. If he trots nicely on the lead for a few paces, and can stand still enough to be examined (or not!), then you'll do fine!
-
Don't worry The worst thing you can do to your future champ is to put too much pressure of him for his first show. Just explain to the judge and steward that it's your first show, and leave your nerves at the gate Have fun!

Just means you will need to pick up your number when you get your catalogue, ValleyCBR.

New Championship Title For Neutered Dogs
Faolmor replied to capanash's topic in General Dog Discussion
I am one who probably won't be bringing out an already-titled champ, just to get a neuter title. I have absolutely nothing against the idea, and I think it is good to encourage people into the sport who have a neutered, main-register dog who may be good enough to show. But I doubt this is the way it will work. It'll just keep existing showies bringing out their retired dogs. Again, no real problem, and yes, good for numbers. But I dunno. I just feel that putting a neuter title on an existing champ is learning towards the overkill department. If they're a champ, they're still a champ whether they're neutered or not. -
From the day of the mating?
-
Do you count the mating day as 0/63 or 1/63? Have to chalk this one up to baby brain...

Haven't made the Albany trip since the infamous "Labrador poo-splosion in back of car" incident.

So sorry to hear about the loss of handsome Hooley. Run free at the bridge, little guy.

Have to be a sap and say the best prize we won was a perpetual trophy ;) Was for winning BOB at our club specialty against an entry of 10 (doesn't sound like much, but for my breed in my state - this is BIG numbers!). A very unexpected win on a day I thought would be a waste of time. We didn't even know we had won a trophy until 6 months later at the AGM. So it was a long wait but worth it for a nice surprise

Just entered one of them - Saturday night.

Ours had never been in a trailer before until we threw them in First trip was to the park. Ever since then, they race each other to get inside!

Real show? Or dream show? Real show - I want to go over to the ISCV specialty, and the Melbourne cup weekend. Dream show - no contest - Crufts

My Sweet Boy, With A Heart So Much Bigger Than His Size
Faolmor replied to RoxyNHemi's topic in Rainbow Bridge
God, Sarah, I'm just so sorry and sad. I still can't quite believe it. Poor little guy. I know how much he meant to you, and how dearly he will be missed. Run free, little Cruise! -
Love Hillarys dog beach It's best very early in the morning - nice and calm sea, and not too many people.
