Stop The Use Of Pound Animals For Experiments At Queensland University
whippets replied to DMA's topic in In The News
You can't learn everything from a book. When I did my Bachelors of Nursing (humans) we had 4 weeks of clinical placements in hospitals each semester. We learned: taking bloods, IDC insertions and starting IVC's to name a few. We first learned injections and IVC's on an artificial arm and believe me it is NOTHING like the real thing. -
Isle Of Dogs Vs Chris Christensen

You need to experiment so buy both. What works for one dog may not work for another. -

Be sure to practice what you preach and refuse any kind of medication prescibed by your Dr during the course of your life. Also if you are unfortunate enough to require aortic valve implantation refuse that. If you get cancer then make sure you refuse any kind of chemo or radio therapy. All of which would have been tested and experimented on animals before testing on humans. The only area I have issues with animal testing is for the sake of human vanity ie. cosmetics. As far as the petition goes. No I won't sign that. -
I got a jumbo show trolley from pet network about 5 years ago. It is still going strong. It's well made, light weight and havn't had to do any work on it. I could have gotten a CC one but my equipment has to be light weight. My back is to stuffed up (thanks to nursing) to lug around to many heavy items.

Gee wiz you need to get out more Tapferhund. You are clueless to the lengths some people go to, to get an entire dog. Especially poodles and other breeds that produce designer mongrels. Anyway back on topic. We have desexed some whippets at 12 weeks of age before rehoming. We have had no problems and none of the compications documented. Comparing the surgery time and recovery rate of a puppy v's an older dog (say 12 months of age) the operation was fast, the recovery on the puppy was quicker, the incision is smaller (1 stitch for both dog and bitch).

Sorry to hear about your babies Glad mum is doing o.k. though.

Stick to your guns and don't let puppy buyers dictate what they want you to do with your breeding. If you want the dog sold on limited rego then sell on limited rego. If they don't like that then they can go somewhere else. It really is that simple.

@ Lyndsay. Yes she was trying to help. The little sod

There was an issue regarding copyright with some. Ahh that's o.k. I "searched" here, found it and pencilled it into the book

Licencing System? You have got to be freakin kidding me. Why don't these dumb asses look at ways to enforce CURRENT laws instead of coming up with these pearlers. The bottom line is people who do the right thing will continue to do so and end up paying more $$$ as a result. The ones who do the wrong thing will continue to do so and flip the bird at any new law that comes along.

There goes the school girl figure

I must still be in footy mode because when I saw those nipples cast a shadow it reminded me of AFL goal posts

I bought a show stacker and it wasn't very well made. The flat foot pad part was glued to the rest of the chock. When I stacked the dog onto it (a whippet so not heavy) the disc broke off. I screwed all the discs onto the chocs and if they break again we'll just make our own and attach to the metal sliders. The wood is craft wood only so not very strong. Apart from the faulty construction, the theory of getting a dog to stack on it has worked for a couple of my dogs.

Why should the breeders be at fault because some dickhead can't/won't look after their own pet and they then surrender it? Gee people don't like to take accountability for anything these days do they.

I feel sorry for the people in 50+ years time that want to buy a beautiful purebred dog. /sarcasm on The only dog they'll be able to get is a mongrel from the local pet store that has socialisation issues, questionable heritage and lord only knows what hereditary problems. But it's o.k. if it has a heart problem, or another congenital disease, they'll be able to get Pet Store to ring the local radio station and ask for donations for Penny the pensioners faulty product. It's not the pet stores' fault the dog is like that. Afterall they didn't manufacture it. /sarcasm off

Wouldn't exactly say "fan" as of yet BUT I am more than willing to give the product a go. Who cares who posted whatever here. If they didn't answer the questions you have then email or phone. Though I'd suspect "heroes" that got on here all high and mighty don't have the same attitude when talking to people directly over the phone or in person. So contact them directly and solve any confusion/ambiguitys/queries you may have.

Contact them yourself directly, either by email or phone. When you have questions for other companies (science diet, royal canin or whoever you currently use) do you ask the question on a dog forum and expect them to see it and reply? I hope Black Hawk do well. An Australian company with an Australian product with all the marketing and packaging cut to a minimum to save costs to the dog owners. BTW I bought the bag yesterday at the local boarding kennel. For the first time ever my fawn whippet ate all his meal (did a 70% to 30%). Time will tell with the weight, coat and overall conditioning. Actually I might go take a before shot today out in the backyard today and see what happens.
