Um Isnt Showing A Desexed Bitch Wrong?
whippets replied to Missymoo's topic in General Dog Discussion
Given other things that go on in the dog world, I could care less that someone is showing a desexed dog....big deal. -
I also like the "sell the puppies to families who are struggling". Goes to show pet shops have no scruples AT ALL. Struggling families shouldn't be getting a dog. If they can't afford to feed it, medicate it, DESEX it then the wonderful wheel of unwanted pups, and dogs people can't afford to keep, end up in the shelters. wankers. Sorry folks, it really ticks me off.

This isn't going to do a damned thing to stamp out puppy farms.

I had problems collapsing the crate at first as well. My 11 year old showed me how to do it properly, now it's easy

It's instinct. They should know what to do.

glad I'm not working night shift at the hospital tonight.

Time To Order Your Christmas Puppies!

Nevermind. I found a teacup greyhound. I asked about the strange paws, nose and ears. The said that was an added extra that I have to pay for. Apparently it is very rare like blue SBT's. -
;) that's still my favorite

I bought their largest crate. Very well made and solid as a rock. A little heavy though. I should have got a smaller size as I could put a saint bernard in it So by that count I think their trolleys (if made of same materials) would be good.

yes, lurcher. looks a dog for pig hunting.

I remember ages ago a prominent Newf breeder had to be hospitalised when one of her beloved landseers died. Pretty sure she is still around.

Questionaires, IMO, are important. It gets people to think about ownership issues they may not have thought of previously. I.E. costs of owning a dog, researching the breed, understanding the difference b/w limited and main registration, importance of desexing pets, importance of puppy schools and socialisation. That is not prejudging, that is making sure they know what they are getting in to. If they can't take 5mins of their time to tick yes or no on sheet then the potential buying process stops there. It's not a matter of "you're not good enough" BUT a matter of "is one of my dogs right for you?" and that is the important part.

This is the kind of "greens" crap that got them submarined in the Victorian election. We got a taste of their stupid policies when they got their foot in the door at the federal election but the liberals in Vic organised their preferences so the greens didn't stand a chance. Onya Ted

I want a tea cup greyhound. -
Depends on the dog/the breed/the breeder. I will let my dogs go to people who work full time as long as the dog has company during the day (another dog or caretaker). I prefer the new owner to get the pup when they have a week or so holidays from work so they can settle the dog in. My dogs are brought up around other dogs and people and there is company all day long. I have no hesitations in selling a dog to a full time worker who has an apartment, as long as they will utilise doggy day care or something to that extent and the dog isn't left alone for extended periods. I have a very long puppy enquiry form that asks all these qu's and it is a good indicator for potential owners to ascertain if one of my whippets is right for them. Other breeders have their own criteria.

Why doesn't the ACT R$PCA ask Uncle Hugh Wirth to release some of the $8 mill in cash assets from Vic to ACT? After all It is for all creatures great and small, not state v's state. I'm sure that add in the newspaper will make, some already hard on cash, pensioners miss out on christmas presents for the grandkids so they can fund a poorly operated R$PCA organisation in the ACT.

I have no issues at all selling a whippet to an apartment home. As long as the dogs social, exercise, shelter and nutrition needs are well and truely met and the dog was part of the family then I'd be more than happy to allow one of my dogs to be in this situation.

Michael and Margaret Engel vs Esk Shire Council (9th September 1998) Will make some interesting reading if you can get hold of the full decision. It refered to S.106 of the Australian constitution where the states cannot enact a law the commonwealth has no power to enact. The court ruled that the local council, in this case, had no head of power to introduce it's local law dealing with the keeping and control of dogs. This was in Queensland in 1998. I don't know if this case has been retested since that time. If I ever had problems with the council then a constitutional lawyer would be the one I'd be seeing.

I am referring to the main site of Dogzonline. Emails are not visible. You have to enter a security code to see the email address of each person.
-
There was about 50 other email addresses attached to the message I got. A spammer. Edit to add: I'm still wondering where they got the list from considering emails are not visible on Dogzonline.
-
Yes I got that email. They must have got a hold of a Dogzonline email list from somewhere. Don't know why the above person even bothered to reply to a spammer.

That's correct.

Good Medical Insurance Products For Australian Dogs

Are you disciplined with money? Just get a regular CC and put the amount, you'd pay to an insurer, into the CC each year (or whenever you make payments). Keep it there and use it when an emergency arises. Don't have to worry about pre-exisiting illnesses and all that garb....You have to disciplined though and not use the CC for anything else. -
i have run some fairly large organisations and i can read financial statements. if i was on the board of the rspca i would be very concerned at having that much cash around for several reasons, one is it isnt working hard enough for the organisation, two it looks unseemly in a not for profit organisation, three it stops people donating as much because it looks like the are awash with cash (which they are) and four it would worry me that the staff would start to feel disaffected, especially if they have to scrimp and scrape to look after the animals (not saying this is happening) so whilst i may not know the rspca, i do know business and balance sheets. eta and the cash amount is increasing every year so they are not spending Yup. They are running it as business for profit (and a very healthy profit as well). I don't think Aloysha can get his/her head around that (or doesn't want to). Like I said before. If the place you worked in has to scrimp then it is a mismanagement of funds, poor budgeting or incorrect accounting systems (or a combination) OR they know the people will work for a pittance. They know you all won't strike, or protest because it will be the animals that suffer. The R$PCA treat you all like pieces of crap like they do everyone else.
