  1. umm you earn $33 per hour as a VET nurse??!!! I'm an RN DIV 1 and I don't get paid that per hour. That makes me disgusted with the government and our pitiful excuse of a union, the ANF.
  2. Take out pet insurance? I'd rather PTS than pay 100k in chemo fees. That is just ridiculous. For such a short lifespan a dog has I cannot fathom puting a pet through chemo, the complications and it's side effects. Then again I wouldn't pay 4.4k to remove a toy from a dogs gut. I have paid out of my own pocket for surgery on myself, anaesthesia and a night stay in hospital. It sure as hell didn't cost anywhere near 4.4k. What a rip off. You know why vets charge these fees? because people are silly enough to pay them....
  3. I'm still waiting for PETA to lead by example as far as human extinction is concerned
  4. Dr Katrina didn't mention that HER purebred lived till he was 14 yrs of age :D not bad for a purebred huh (sarcasm). You won't find me buying a Crapadoodle.
  5. I use showstackers. Handy but I wish they were better made. I got my father to secure the foot pads with decent bolt screws as the other ones came off to easily (they are made of chip board/craft wood). I start my babies when they are about 5 weeks or so and make it fun for them. I start slowly and I don't expect them to stand longer than 5 seconds or so to start with, then build up on it. I try to stack as quick as possible and not fart around with foot placement to start with. Pups get sick of you taking to much time to do something (just think of your own impatient children when you think of puppies ) .
  6. It doesn't matter what system you use there will always be disadvantages to minority breeds and geographic areas. I take the DoL system (and breed club systems for that matter) with a grain of salt as far as being an indicator for the best quality dogs.
  7. If PETA are lucky they might be able to score a rental right next door to the Church of Scientology.
  8. Is there any research with feeding bitches the folate? I know of the spinal cord research with humans. Raja. I try to make the place as worm free as I can so I worm the lot (including the cats) when a bitch, that I want to breed, is on season. I do it in the first couple days I notice her in season. I don't reworm the bitch till the pups are weaned. Pups get the usual worming regime from 3 weeks onwards.
  9. Fanatic ball feeler would look good on a resume
  10. With these kind of laws on purebred breeders the only dog you'll be able to buy in 10 yrs will be a Crapadoodle.
  11. I wouldn't dob in any fellow breeder. I remember the "dob in a neighbour" campaign to dob in neighbours watering their gardens. I gave the t.v. a good one fingered salute when that ad was on. I remember when you could claim dog breeding as a hobby and get the tax deduction but the government scraped that (early 90's I think). Probably because most breeders run at a loss .
  12. Nothing extra here. I just make sure they are wormed the first couple days of the season because I don't re-worm until the pups are weaned.
  13. I wish the RSPCA would curl up and die. ......along side PETA of course.
  14. This is what I was getting at fifi, as the advertising has sprung up massivly over the last couple of years...sure Id advertise too if I hd spare $ to throw around, but Id rather spend it on importing, breeding and showing This isn't new. It's always been like this with advertising. It's just that with internet technology there are "newer" avenues to advertise the showdogs. There will always be people who can drag a dead rat around the ring and still get BOB. Nothing is different there. With a HUGE absence from the show ring (like 15 yrs) then returning with another breed I have noticed one big change and that is the presentation of the handlers themselves. I think this is a good thing. I have noticed that people spend alot more time presenting themselves and their dogs. Remember the days when parachute material tracksuit outfits where all the rage for handling?
  15. I have a whippet that poos on the move. Annoying to pick up after him. He accurately spaces he plops and I think he would be good at marking the white lines in the middle of the road
  16. litter of whippets due around the 19th March (if she is preggers of course).
  17. shaved nut sack is still the winner by a country mile
  18. Fav in my breed is: INT CH Statuesque Extortion Havn't seen a whippet, in this country, anywhere near the quality of this dog since he left the ring. He is about 13 yrs old now.
  19. Does the exam take into account people with learning disabilities? Universities have them, can't see why dogs vic wouldn't.
  20. If I'm paying approx $12 + per entry (not including my time, petrol, city link passes and crappy food from the canteen), he/she better go over my dog.
  21. I don't use Fuzzyard, it has cocoa butter in it. I make my own liquid shampoo (cold pressed soap also) and put herbal extracts in it. Smells divine and good for coat cleaning.
  22. Unless you think Advance is the holy water of dog food (which it isn't) I'd be switching brands. I wouldn't put up with crappy customer service from any company.
