  1. Yes I remember the time in the grey racing industry when this happened. I knew the guy whose bitch was mated to the racing grey, umm I'll acronym the dog as "BP" for short. It was the colours of the pups that made him question the sire so they got DNA'd and that was when the can of worms spewed all over the place. If a certain person wasn't so high up in the AFL at the time they would have been dragged over hot coals.
  2. I bought the plait book as well. There was another good one on amazon but I'll see what this looks like first.
  3. 15 yrs out of a show lead is good value for money IMO. I think the $60+ price tags are worth it but I'm still going to play and make my own
  4. I like the bulldog one. He looks thrilled..........NOT.
  5. You got more than I have and I've whelped pups for over 20 years. G'luck with it all. I love the smell of puppy breath
  6. I'm glad you recovered some costs with this. I won't let other males run with my bitches at least 2 weeks after the season ends because you just never know......
  7. I read on the plaiters & whips forum that you use some kind of soap to tighten up the thong as you plait. I'll try find the link. HERE
  8. It's idiots like that give registered breeders a bad name. I'd be telling the world if my bitch was bred to a dog not of my choice. There are plenty of unethical registered breeders as well. That ilk doesn't totally belong to BYB and puppy farmers. I'd also be taking them court to recover costs. You'd have a good case.
  9. The gazettes are online it's just that there is to much going on with the website it makes it difficult to navigate to what you want to get to. To get to what you need on a website should take no more than 2 clicks. If it was an online shopping site their sales would be shiat.
  10. Yeah I've seen a few that are quite lovely. I want to make my own though. I'll go check ebay. I've seen some on Etsy (my fav site EVER for handmade stuff) but it was deerhide. I'd rather plait skippy than Bambi.
  11. I'd like to do the plaited kangaroo leather leads. Don't know where to get the thongs though. I have seen braiding books on amazon. I can make my own lampwork beads so at least they would be "unique". Anyone know where to get thongs from? (No I'm not talking about butt floss thongs either )
  12. I'd go just so I can stare at Dr Bruce Symes all night long
  13. Go for it. I used Cruiser when he was about 9 and got 8 puppies in the litter.
  14. I conducted biological xenophobia today when I used the Advocate on my cats. Bye bye worms.
  15. I'd rather be attacked by a chihuahua than an APBT.
  16. Wish I didn't look in this thread. I need to go to Bling Lead Rehab. Very hard to resist them.
  17. Puppy farmers who run it as a business would be protected under the trades practices act in commerical law. They have more rights under the law than ethical registered breeders who run a hobby. go figure.
  18. Can't stand those bloody birds. I have been destroying myna nests in the dog shed all spring and summer. We have ALOT of mynas here now and so few native birds. It's been years since I've seen a beautiful blue wren in the front yard. I haven't seen many honey eaters for that matter either
  19. This will be the PETA sign out the front of the Aussie head office (right next door to C O Scientology of course).
  20. haha. but it was a two fingered salute I loved that movie
  21. Is that the guy who does the t.v. show "River Cottage". He is pretty much of the same opinion. Believes in giving the animals a good life and humanely end their lives. I'm not big on battery hens or eggs. We eat organic, free range, chicken and you CAN taste the difference. I'd love to have a self sufficiency hobby farm but the sheep, chooks, cows etc would all have pet names, be cuddled every day and then I wouldn't have the heart to neck them .
  22. Well sometimes you just have to get the dogs mated where ever you can. My whippet had her final mating at a Mini Horse show at Ballarat a few weeks back . People have commitments and if you really really want the bitch bred, well you have to work around peoples schedules. Well I did get to watch cute little horses while the dogs were tied for 20mins
