Depends on the dog. I havn't found a dog toy (including the Kongs, Tuffys and any other thick rubber material object) that is JRT proof yet. Chalky tears them all to shreds overnight then sleeps all the next day . It must be tough work.

Yeah I got mine from people who made the fibreglass hydrobaths ages ago. Mine still has the little plaque thing on it, made by "Naturopet". The owner bred Newfs (that's how I knew them) but the guy, and probably the company, is long since dead.

I put newspaper on the bottom and towels over the top. I just change the paper and wash the towels when they need a change. My whelping box is a 22 year old fibreglass 4foot x 4 foot and it is still just as good as the first day I got it. They are just so easy to clean. So I suggest if you can still get a fibreglass whelp box and plan to breed for a while then it would be a good investment. Here is a pic and you can remove the rails when the pups are a bit bigger these bowls are good for weening

Yeah that must be recent with Monash. They didn't do surgical implants when I asked them a year ago. Nonetheless I won't be using them but I still have the semen stored there for the timebeing. The guy at Wyndham, I have spoken to them and he only does endo but uses some advanced technique. We use Wyndham for desexing our pups before rehoming. They are very reasonable with their costs.

Glad I don't live in the USA anymore. I wouldn't be rich enough to have a top dog . Australia IS like that but on a smaller scale......much smaller. Instead of paying 100k a year, you'd have to pay 5k

I suggest Sandown and Craigieburn. Both surgeries do many implants with the racers. I'll be using Michael Bell when I eventually use some of my import semen. I have it stored at Monash but plan to move it soon. Monash don't do surgical implants btw, only endo. I know 100% that Michael does the surgical implants.

I email this pdf hand book to whippy buyers who have kids. This would also suit safety around other peoples dogs. HERE The one I downloaded a year back is more detailed but the one above is o.k as well. Published by the Royal Children's Hospital, Melbourne. Any puppy buyer with kids should get this.

I wouldn't hesitate leaving a bitch till she was 3 or 4 to have her first litter. I don't see any reason why 2 is the magical "must have" number to have a first litter unless people are just eager to get pups out of a promising bitch.

In a shelter at least the animals are there longer than a day, in most cases, so "you" might get some idea on whether music etc does make a difference. Don't see how you can get a true reading from new animals every day. A lot of people, racehorse trainers come to mind, do play music for their animals but they are doing so to a fairly static population, not one that changes every day. I have had music in the indoor kennels ever since my days of training greys. I believe it settles the dogs. Even my indoor pets score some classical music ( to iTunes) when I leave the house. I know a few grey trainers who still use music in their kennels.

Registered breeder probably means a registered ABN number for a puppy farm.

The biggest pup in my whippet litter was a bitch. She was HUGE and I bet other breeders would have pet homed her at 8 weeks for her size. She ended up being 18 inches tall and would most likely be one of the smallest whippet bitches in the ring....today. I have had small pups ending up the biggest and vice versa. IMO the first 7 weeks or so is indicitive of the pups place in the whomb and how much placental nutrition they get rather than genetic size.
