YAY got my book today. Lots of info on the plaiting itself but not alot on how to "finish" projects. I'll have a play tonight with the 4 thong round.

My bitch "showed" just before 5 weeks gestation. I don't bother with ultrasounds or anything like that. If there are pups I find out soon enough . She has lost her school girl figure...er I mean tuck up. She is also still cranky at me. She won't even sleep on my bed now she goes and sleeps on my sons bed . She is such a snob ;)

A donkey or mule would make short work of a dog. My ex's family use donkeys to protect their cows in Virginia.

This thread is getting more bizarre each time I read posts like this.

It wouldn't change a thing. Idiots get driving licences yet still manage to drink drive, cause accidents and even worse kill other innocent people. Another licencing system for owning animals will do nothing except line the pockets of our fabulous government/council. Who would enforce it? The RSPCA?

Why don't PETA (People Eating Tasty Animals) go and protest at the front of puppy farmers houses? Oh wait that wouldn't give them enough attention...............silly me I think the PETA members should double their daily dosage of whacky pills and move along..

Do they have breeding programs for custom, police and sniffer type dogs over there now? They use to train dogs from the pound.

That would NEVER get in. The USA is the gun capital of the world and where I used to live is the capital city....Virginia. They are very anal retentive about gun rights and taking kids out hunting from the age of 10 is pretty much the norm where I use to live. They are weird on what is suitable and what isn't though. I would see dead people laying on the streets on the nightly news, when I lived there, yet the whole country goes up in arms over Janet Jacksons wardrobe malfunction and OMG shows a boob........ for christs sake.

No way to a licensing system. We are way over governed as it is when it comes to permits and licenses. You can't go do a whole lot in this country these days without informing the government and/or council first and see if you are "allowed" to do it. They just need to enforce the existing laws instead of bringing in anything new.

Generally What Are The Quarantine Times For Usa And Uk To Oz?
whippets replied to Wilderblu's topic in General Dog Discussion
They should allow home stays. How many dogs have come out here and actually develop rabies? I think the vacc and titre testing prior to depature should be enough. But then again the government don't get revenue from home quarantine. We imported from the UK 20 years ago and I vaguely remember it not being to much hassle. The dogs came by freight with some race horses. They have special flights for livestock (well they did 20 years ago). I remember it was a lengthy flight because they had to fly up and over Russia due to the gulf war at the time. -
Mostly Nature. You can raise a whole litter the same and they have different temperaments. Which is why breeders advise new owners which dog in a litter would best suit their needs. In my last litter I sold a quiet (not timid at all) placid dog to an ederly couple and I sold another outgoing dog to a family full of sporty teenagers. The dog and the kids all go nuts together. A placid, quiet dog, I believe, wouldn't do so good in such a noisy household. oops forgot the 2nd part of the qu: I breed for Temperament, type and overall soundness. They all hold equal importance.

ah I see. Thanks for the info MV

I have seen a couple sites were they plait over paracord. I thought the kanga thong wouldn't need to be plaited over anything? I'm sure I read somewhere that it is one of the strongest leathers.

Hype, Money And Cornstarch: What It Takes To Win At Westminster
whippets replied to Arawyn's topic in In The News
I've been challenged to see if I can register Deshonko as an ANKC approved breeder prefix. Ah.... no. I want to see a "Crapadoodles R US" for a puppy farmer. -
I'll probably get pummeled for this but those dogs would have been shot if I found them on my property.
-
That's a good move by Dogs Vic. I hope they end up with a great site after all this. The one they have now is WAY to busy on the eyes and difficult to navigate.
-
I'd go to crufts for the doggy shopping stalls. That's about it. I'd love to go to Westminster though.
-
I got an email this morning. My book is on the way...yay. Oh the book doesn't give step by step instructions to plait? That isn't good for inept people like me

If you have some problems with people parking up your rear at a show I'll make sure to bring some of my mum's rissoles and fruit cake to a show . In a word.....windy.

New Championship Title For Neutered Dogs
whippets replied to capanash's topic in General Dog Discussion
I think the neuter classes is a good thing. They have had these classes for cats for ages and it has worked well. I have held the belief for a long time that some of the BEST examples of a breed are desexed pets staying in peoples backyards. Be good to see them in the ring. -
Sprung toes have alot of "give" in them and is a very common injury among racers (we've had a few of them). The toe can also be sprung upwards with the toe nail pointing almost straight up into the air. Our old boy has a sprung toe at the moment, we just tape it when he is let out for a wee so he doesn't do more damage.

We are going to have puppy breath here. Pups due between March 19-21 She will be 5 weeks tommorow and definately preggers. The other reliable indicator is her totally ignoring me for getting her into this predicament
-
That's terrible What sort of foam are you talking about? is it easy to clean? do you put anything over the top of it? I have found my whippets and greys to be very gentle and cautious around their pups. When I had the Newfoundlands they were not so cautious and I couldn't leave the bitch with them as much. They could be suffocating a pup, by laying on it, and not even know it. I was forever doing head counts.

Chanel is gorgeous. I picked her for last year but I think she got an AOM.

Yes that is a pretty close breeding. What breed is it? Do they offer a health guarantee?
