Breeders' Conditions When Selling A Puppy
whippets replied to Zug Zug's topic in General Dog Discussion
Exactly , so why sell a good dog on limited register???. I am not $hit stirring at all, my point of view is that a good example of the breed should be sold on main register, and you are trying convince puppy buyers that selling on limited is better It's not better on limited for the puppy buyer at all, it only serves to restrict their potential opportunities when owning a good dog. I don't convince anyone of anything. If I sell a pet on limited register it stays on limited register. Not every puppy buyer wants "opportunities". They just want a pet.....end of story. You are obviously talking about your own experiences and considering you don't represent everyone else in the world you should just relate to "yourself". -

I'd be thrilled to pieces if another kennel used one of my dogs on their bitches and they bred a "superstar" under their own prefix. I'd be proud as punch that one of my dogs sired (or was the dam of) top show winner. You're a real sour puss arn't you? and a $hit stirer to boot. -

what about the breeders who do this what about the breeders who do that and these breeders...........and those breeders. Once you've finished having a bitch about breeders maybe you can move on and whinge about why the poopa scoopa breaks after 5 uses. -

Totally agree with Ellz. I don't care who the breeder is. If I think a dog will suit one of my girls I will ask to use the dog. Not using a good dog because you don't like the owner is cutting off your own nose to spite your face. Breeder politics has no place in breeding good dogs IMO. All that kind of crap is to the detriment of the breed in the long run. -
I agree with you. I am a meat eater as well. We know where our meat comes from and I don't buy meat from chain grocers. Watch River Cottage and you'll see what I mean when I say how animals should be treated.

Puppy Vaccination Schedule

We use C3 at 8,12,16 weeks of age and a booster a year after. To the OP. If you plan to use boarding kennels at some stage you may need to use C5. I know some of the kennels around here won't take dogs unless they have C5. -

I still can't fathom why some people insist that most dogs on limited reg, as a pet, is an inferior dog. Some of the best examples of breeds are sitting in peoples backyards. I see nothing wrong with that at all. Pet owners deserve to get good quality dogs and they do. Alot of breeders send their good pups to pet homes if they can't keep them themselves. Breeders reclaiming a dog because it is good enough to breed and show is pretty harsh on pet owners. -
Thats what the Koreans say. The Koreans were outraged in 2002 (World Cup) when the rest of the world suggested that perhaps they should enforce their own laws. They said exactly that. We don't beat our animals to death with metal bars, hang them (not to break the neck, but to suffocate), boil them alive, ect. Just goes to show their attitude. I dont think they make any real attempts at secrecy regarding those practices, but they just don't think it is relevant. Sounds like a racist proclaimation to me. 'They' is a billion plus people spread out over an area much larger than Australia, with a history that goes back well before our year 0. No question some awful things happen, and some authorities turn a blind eye. But I think you need to be careful about generalising. I don't think dog fighting is popular in either China or Korea (though it seems to have some history in Japan???) . . . it's illegal here, but from what I can see, the law doesn't do much to obliterate it. Is blood sport more humane than tenderising an animal while it is live? Yuck. Both are detestable. The 'eating' tradition, at least, doesn't seem to have a group of people getting their rocks off by watching an animal suffer . . . and thus feeding into child abuse, spouse abuse, and a bunch of other ugly things. Doesn't get their rocks off by seeing an animal suffer? Find out how the bile is taken from a bear and the foot, how it is prepared with the bear still there (alive) and the men eating the parts. Find out why they keep the suffering bear alive during the whole act. Then tell me about what you think of that kind of stupid superstitions. Same goes for bullfighting but that is another story.

If they did that I'd miss my call I'm usually a late arrival for shows (when I go).

We like to breed show quality pups in every litter as well but it doesn't always happen. It's not like going to a supermarket. -
Not always, I had 2 before these, Kiri and Iris and they never fought, Kiri was clearly the top girl and Iris was happy with the arrangement and never challenged her. They were great mates, always playing together and snuggled up together when they slept. Most of the time the time Penny and Kibah are OK but I have to watch them and avoid situations that might cause a fight. I just lapsed a bit last night. I've just gone out and brought Kibah in, she's been in the car all this time but now I've crated her. I'll be keeping them both apart or on leads for the next little while to see how they are together. not always? but it did happen didn't it. What's done is done, your posts of "I never..." really aren't of any help are they? Kirislin - I hope the girls will be ok, just watch for fluid building up under the skin (on the girls neck you think might be bruised) and Pers's suggestion of a hottie each and something sweet to drink is a good one ;) I hope apart from being a little sore and sorry for themselves that tomorrow brings some calm. From the breeds I have had, JRT's, Newfs, Greys and whippets. I have found, in my experience, that females together is the worst combination you can get. They are worse than having 2 males. And yes it is of help if someone else can learn from that. As others have already said with bitches together.

that's why I always wear pants instead of skirts.

Be happy that they don't mix group 6 and 7 together like they use to years back. I remember when group 6/7 specials finished around 5-6pm. All the other groups where done and it was always 6/7 that held the show up :D . Back in the 80's they had larger entries for shows as well.

A Collar Question For Sighthound Owners
whippets replied to ruthless's topic in General Dog Discussion
Are you going to make some fancy leather whippet bling collars?!!!! Be nice to get some from oz. I currently get mine from England (made from english bridle leather and are sheepskin lined on the inside). I also have old greyhound leather collar and lead sets. Yes they are buckled on the collar and lead. I don't think they make them here anymore. I could still use them now and they are 20 yrs old. -
Pigs ears are a once every couple of weeks treat for my dogs. They tend to get runny poos if they get pig ears on a regular basis.
-
I only do emails now for the first few enquiries. The last straw was when I was getting phone calls at 6am and 11.30pm from people that lived in the same time zone as me....sheesh.
-
I don't like putting bitches together. I kennel mine dog + bitch. 2 bitches together is just a disaster waiting to happen.
-
staffies are very very very popular among the bogan byb breeding community. I do hope you get her back soon.
-
Yes you can. I have rehabilitated my ex-racer greys to not want to kill small animals. I can also recall my whippets from rabbits.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with charging more for a "show prospect" on mains register compared to a pet quality pup on limited register. Not that it's anyone elses business what other breeders do with their own dogs anyway.
