  1. I don't think Dog's Vic offer anything for any type of pet only owner to even consider becoming a member. It's expensive to join and they get...well.....nothing. Thus far my limited register pups go with signed papers and that pretty much is where it ends as far as involvement with Dogs Vic. Anyway back on topic
  2. Ummm sorry but that is against the rules of ANKC. The breeder must transfer the papers. The breeder you got your dog from just saved themselves some money by having you pay for it and if they did this with every pup (especially in large litters) they are getting away with a small fortune. There is also no way to know for sure that the new owners have done the transfer, which if not the dog is still technically in the breeders name and can be blamed if anything happens. I give a copy of the pedigree in the pups folder and the original pedigree is sent out to them in a few weeks. Have never had a problem doing it this way and have never had buyers question me. Have been doing it this way for 16 years. Leanne Hey Leanne, I never knew that, have you got a reference or link handy you can post in here. I have always received my papers with the breeders signatures on the back in the mail for me to sign and send to Dogs NSW and had to pay for my own transfers of nearly $50 I think per dog.... No names need to be mentioned - "no breeders restrictions", at least the advert has changed from only dogs with major faults should be placed on limited register.... umm yes i am interested in this too. After the hell I went through to get my papers, it was sent to me with the breeders signature on the back and it has been left upto me to send it in :D Do you live in Victoria? If so then it is up to you to transfer the papers in your own name and pay the fee, not the breeder. It is the breeders initial responsability to register the litter of course. Yes I live in Victoria but the breeder lives in Queensland, the papers were posted to me from the breeder. Ah I see. From QLD, the breeder should have sent them in to the CCCQ and the CCCQ send them to you. hmm so what should I do in this instance? Can I just send them in myself? I do not think its fair that I should fork out more money considering I have already been ripped off but its been such a bad situation that I really do not have the energy to get into another mess :D To save yourself any more stress just send them in to the CCCQ yourself, pay the fee and be done with it. Thank heaven you got the back signed. That can be a hassle in itself if the breeders don't do that.

  4. 17.5k less to spend on the RSPCA lawyer coffers

  7. Same here.never had an issue or query either. Black Bronson how many litters have you breed, how many pups have you evaluated between the above ages,at birth which pups would you put on mains/limited?? In breeds that arent born with the colour what colour would you list on the papers at this early age?? Are you able to tell which ones have faults ,bad mouths, poor movement?? Please inform us BB is the consumers advocate of DoL. Dogs are like cars according to BB My dogs come with an RACV check...er I mean vet checked for health before they go. My dogs come with a tank full of fuel...er I mean they have been fed well before they go. My dogs come with car mats and accessories...er I mean a puppy pack. Anyway, like showdog and SBT123, my pups rarely have their rego papers when they go to their new homes. I have had no problems with pup buyers in this regard. It's on their receipt that the registered papers will follow and be mailed out. A demanding overbearing puppy buyer would probably give me the willies enough to not even sell them a dog. They can look elsewhere.
  8. my dogs have their "alone" time when eating. I don't think we should hang around when they are enjoying their treats. Most of mine have their own special place to take their treats to and enjoy them. Same goes for the horses. I don't bug them (ie:blanket them or groom) when they are enjoying their food.
  9. Unfit dogs can pace as it is a more comfortable gait for them. Also unbalanced, unsound dogs can pace rather than gait correctly. When we had Newfs I found the dogs that were to short in body paced.
  10. They can be different. I've got 4 male puppies out in the backyard now and they have all been raised the same, same parentage yet they all have very different personalities. so definately different..
  11. Weak, wobbly, loose hocks is very noticeable at a walk.
  12. The Best of the Best is the one that your dogs do well on. You'll have to trial and error because not all dogs do fantastic on the same food.
  13. Bad sportsmanship is in everything. I do believe people are alot more "precious" these days when it comes to people bad mouthing them. Of course it is uncalled for but you can't live in a bubble. I still think the cake people are worse than the dog people. Seeing a couple of grandma's leaving WWF to shame is a sight to behold.
  14. As a breeder who has shipped all over the country, I would like to know which company it was. Send me a pm. I'll keep it to myself of course.
  15. It was hard to keep the condition on my "acitve" whippets with the regular Artemis then we switched to the Osopure Power in the middle of last year. They are doing fantastic on it.
  16. You see if that was me, I'd be juvenille enough to stick two fingers up and "raspberry"... jog on
  17. Yes there are some real snots around. Reminds me of a saying "they have been in the breed for 20 years or have they been in the breed 1 year 20 times over". Anyway the costs of shows these days are quite expensive plus the amount of international judges seen at shows is pretty poor. I took a 15 year break from showing and when I returned I noticed a HUGE difference in show size and the lack of big shows. The newer people to the game wouldn't remember the big EXPO weekend for the ADI dog club and Kilmore champ shows in Vic. There use to be people from all over the country for those two International spectaculars. I think it was the Junior Kennel Club here in Vic that still have international judges plus the entry fees are low. They get awesome entries as do the shows over the Melbourne Cup weekend. So it can STILL be done. Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't the number of judges in Australia also declining? That pretty much sums up that once the older fanciers go there are few to replace them. I also remember the numbers of judges declining when they introduced the number of stewarding appointments a trainee had to do. I think that was introduced in the late 80's maybe early 90's. If someone has a busy life then the extra commitment may put people off.
  18. That is disgusting. If I was the breeder the puppy would have gone back home. Ewww.
  19. In the late 80's, when I started breeding dogs, I use to spend copious amounts of money on slabs of tinned pal puppy food to raise puppies. Later, when information technology was more readily available (the internet), I realised how crappy that stuff is. What a WASTE of money
  20. You can still get them. Our oldie retired racing greys get them and so do our whippys. They all love to take their biscuit to "their own corner" and enjoy it. We get the large bags of 4x2's and that fills up (and then some) our garbage bin sized dog feed containers. It lasts 4 weeks.
  21. Oh boy and I thought I'd heard it all...That comparison just about takes the biscuit
  22. I would LOVE to grow my own organic fruit n veg, free range chooks and milk the goats to make my soap. I couldn't raise calves or sheep for slaughter though. They'd all have names and be spoilt bloody rotten.
  23. .......and then there are some thickheads that no matter what you tell them it does not sink in. I'm right behind Ellz. I'll leave BB in this thread to continue chasing his/her tail. Bye.
  24. yep it is so typical of people outside the breeding game to make assumptions based on their own perceptions. BB once you have been breeding dogs for decades then you will understand why breeders do what they do. Going by all your posts I'll make an educated guess and say that you are quite inexperienced. Until you have gone through the blood sweat and tears of breeding dogs, instead of being on the outside and looking in, you will have no idea.
