  1. Your second paragraph is a sweeping statement, especially part of the last sentence. Don't you mean "some breeders"? don't toss every breeder into the same basket.
  2. showing off SEXY legs in the first pic :D
  3. I don't understand how the topic heading relates to the post. Anyway, keep hold of the puppy, he/she could be going through the uglies. I know with my whippet dam line they don't even blossom till 3 years of age. That's a hell of a time to wait but worth it. You need patience breeding dogs and owners of potential show pups should exercise that same patience. Unfortunately there are some who think that buying a show prospect entitles them to a group sash every weekend and a guaranteed champion.
  4. I read this one alot for Euro whippy news. Lots of hound info if people are interested. HERE
  5. I still don't buy the 3 testicle thing either. How could any exhibitor NOT notice that their dog had 3 testicles. Especially in a dog like a whippet. It would be like a bunch of grapes hanging between 2 back legs.
  6. Is there an aussie show site on facebook that has weekend results put up? I've only just joined facebook. sheesh is so hard to work out. I'm getting better with technology. I got a new HTC HD2 and can now work out how to download the weather (yes that is important to me ) but still havn't worked out how to SMS.
  7. ah. Apparently you can get them. It looks like a cross between a peanut and a lychee hehe
  8. Didn't know they had prosthetic balls for dogs....... I still find some of these claims far fetched. The human mind can be quite fanciful.
  9. looks like there will be quite a few whippy babies around. Your Kobi boy looks nice on the stack. Hope he isn't as mental as his Auntie Rowy
  10. Stars N Stripes Star Spangled Star Struck Star Dust Star Jump lol
  11. Sorry no can do. I have to be leader of the pack...
  12. Speaking from experience, with a son that was born with foreskin then had to have it removed at 7 years of age due to "true" phimosis, there are definately reasons to have it done. I guess there are also differences in western culture in this regard. It is quite uncommon here to have foreskin removal at birth yet when I worked as an RN1 in the USA it was done as a matter of procedure. It was rare to not get it done there at the hospitals I went to. Those who have frequented overseas can tell you themselves that culture can be quite different from one English speaking country to the next. anyway back onto the topic of dogs.....
  13. I use a hair straightener on my whippets. There ya go...the secret is out. I also think that for every founded accusation about dog enhancements there would be dozens of unfounded, gosssipy, rumour, I'm pi$$ed because their dog beat me for the 50th time in a row accusations.
  14. Hyde has his first show in just over 1 week. Heres hoping he can manage to keep all 4 paws on the ground
  15. hmmmm a new judge. Will I waste my money on entries or go to the movies. Still have a couple of weeks to decide
  16. I don't really care about chalk and hairspray being used on dogs. I'd be more peeved when an obviously unsound dog gets put up for a major award.
  17. I no longer race the greys but we have 2 11 year olds that are our last grey racers. They are beautiful dogs. I love them to death. They kind of don't realise their size when they try and sit on my lap though  They figure if the whippets can do it then why not them!!!!!!!!!!!
  18. ahhh..hem. Blue n White Geelong colours thanks
  19. Years ago there was a business in Australia that had a team of JRT's that went to places like chook farms to clear out rat problems. Saw it on t.v. Should of seen the holes they dug to get to the rat burrows funniest thing I ever saw was these 8 little dogs decimating the rat population. Anyway see if you can borrow a JRT out just set more traps.
  20. BB views buying a dog the same way he/she views buying a car or refridgerator. No point reasoning with people like that. I am not interested in people who view dogs in this regard. I doubt many here would even let you have a puppy from them the way you carry on. There are plenty in my breed who churn out the litters, sell them all on mains register and charge a fortune. So YAY for you for getting your papers and on mains . Maybe your friend up the road wants to use your dog. You have no idea of it's quality and you have no idea of your own dogs quality, Your not a breeder and you don't show, but it must be good because it's on mains register right? you will get a couple hundred bucks or a couple slabs of beer for the stud fee. Not bad for buying a pet with mains register huh? Why do you even come on here BB? you don't breed, you havn't owned many dogs yet you know it all. You have all the answers and the people that have bred dogs for decades obviously know nothing. You don't get the fact that the breeders on here don't breed dogs as a business. We are not here for "the consumer". We don't have end of year sales or discounts for cash. We breed for ourselves when we want a show dog and provide happy healthy pet pups for grateful people who want a puppy of their chosen breed. type....edit...delete...type...edit...delete :D I'm outy on this thread to. I don't suffer fools gladly
  21. agree with Ellz. WOW 50 page folder. I saved all my paperwork into a PDF format and Word (toilet training, dogs and kids, breed standard, care information). I find that much easier than collating booklets. I just email it all a week before they pick up the puppy so they can prepare and get everything ready (beds, toys, leads, crate etc). Saves the trees that way to If they are interstate I just snail mail the micro chip info and papers.
  22. $30 isn't so bad. None of my pet owners are interested in joining Dogs Vic. Most of my pets go as family pets. No flyball, no competetive obedience. I think they need to look at other avenues for gaining membership on top of these kinds of activities. I'm not saying I have the answers but the memberships are decling yet pedigree pets are still very popular. food for thought anyway.
  23. yes yes we are all evil horrible people and you are the shining star consumer advocate.
