You can try these as well http://www.provizorinternational.com/australia.html http://www.provizorinternational.com/the-novaguardtrade.html My girl hated the Elizabethan collar. It was too wide and because the ears were inside the cone, the sound was amplified. With the novaguard, she freely moved around and the extra length mean she could not turn around and lick the wound or remove the stitches. regards KK Team

Feeding Staffords Sardines
KK Team replied to pickles_chester's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I feed mine fresh/frozen sardines or pilchards. I get it from a fish monger. It works out way cheaper than feeding tin sardines considering I have large breed. In summer, they love it frozen.....just like a fish-sicle............lol. In winter, I just let it thaw out a bit before giving it to them. I've also given them salmon heads which are not expensive. Most fish places have them as humans are more interested in the salmon cutlets. -
Dobecrazy, the results have not been updated on the website......Only 9 entries and not sure if all were present. I heard through the grapevine.....so don't quote me on this.....lol BOB and Challenge Dog: Ch Fireax La Leyenda Reserve Challenge Dog: Ch Walamara Dare T Discover Challenge Bitch: Fireax Visions And Dream Reserve Challenge Bitch: Atakarna...... (not sure which one as there were two entered) The above are hearsay and subject to official results on the RAS website.

If anyone is interested in the breed entry numbders and order of judging per day and for each judge...... http://www.sydneyroyal.com.au/breed_judging_schedule_2013.pdf Good luck to those entered. cheers KK Team

I hate mozzies. Not only for my dogs' sake but also mine.........lol Try and keep down the still water sources in your area, i.e. not pots or containers sitting around with water that allows mosquitoes to breed. Easier said than done depending on where you live and your neighbours. The last few years have not been that bad in Sydney in terms of flies and mozzies, but I have used Coopes before http://www.bayercropscience.com.au/es/products/productdetails.asp?id=35#prodDetails Wait until a nice sunny day with no wind. Bring in the dogs and spray around the area. With the sun, it dries quickly and help repel insects. I've also heard of an old wives tale that vitamin b is good to ward off mozzies. My does get brewers yeast in their diet so hopefully that will help mine.............lol

Hi All, I'm hoping some kind DOLers with a catalogue from the Wollongong & Dist Show - Sunday 3 March, will be able to provide some information. Can someone please let me know the first and last exhibit number in the Utility Group (Group 6) please. Started with Akitas and ended with a Tibetan Masitiff. Thanks in advance. cheers KK Team

Agree with everyone's comments. In addition, you could try lamb breast flaps. They are a little more fatty and could help with the weight gain. I used to feed mine tinned sardines, but with three large dogs (2 now), had to get a few cans. I started including fresh fish (sardines/pilchards/mackeral) and they love it. In summer, I leave them frozen, so it's like "fish-icle".....lol. Start off with a small amount so the dog can get used to it. Not all dogs may like fresh fish so beware. Good luck.

Thanks BBJ, you're a champ! I'm not entered, but good luck to everyone entered and showing. Hope the weather is great.

Thanks for the breed numbers. Why is there a 360 at the end of every line? If there are three shows, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, what days do the first two numbers relate to?
-
The Purse Sea is the highest protein content of them all, so maybe your furkid cannot digest that much. I have had my three, now two, on Canidae for a while and I alternate between the Salmon or the Lamb one and have never had any problems. Mine don't get Canidae everyday though and they are larger breed so probably burn off the extra fat/oils and protein.

Dog Chiropractor/muscle Man In Sydney
KK Team replied to Kavik's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Hi Kavik, I believe Peter has moved houses. If you have the landline number, then I can understand why it's not working. I can try and get the new number for you if you like. There is Gary and Neil Barnsley at Greendale. I think Neil does most of the consults now and his father, Gary is slowling down on the patients he sees. http://www.hotfrog.com.au/Companies/Animal-Holistic-Therapies#Products There is Sydney Animal Physiotherapy at Leichhardt. They have a water treadmill, but being in the inner city, are a tad more expensive. http://sydneyanimalphysiotherapy.com.au/ regards KK Team -
Hi All, Just wondering if there are any kind DOLers that have a catalogue for the Dalwood Show on Sunday 25 November. If possible, could someone let me know which Miniature Schnauzers were entered. Thanks KK Team

Hi Mossbank, are you referring to these http://anivacfirst.com/ecowash.html? Where do you live? Someone actually came to my place and provided a demonstration. The noise is like a loud vacuum and it basically "sucks" the dirt and loose hairs. My dogs are fine with loud noises such as fireworks and lawnmovers and vacuum cleaners, but I think because the anivac eco wash was right next to them, they freaked out because of the noise. The demonstrator kept say, the dogs will be fine, they will get use to the sound and will love it. I decided to give it a miss, I didn't not want to freak my dogs out and thought bath time shoul be an enjoyable experience. I think if your dogs are ok with the noise, it might be worthwhile, although I am not sure if there are long term effects with regards to the sucking action on the skin and coat. Hopefully someone else who has one and able to use on their dogs will be able to provide feedback. Good luck. regards KK Team

Chicken is easy to get cheaply, as everyone has said. It's the red meat that's the hard one! I got 10kg of beef offcuts for $40 the other day from the butcher next to Aldi at North Strathfield (sorry, names and me don't mix  ), most butchers will happily bag up their offcuts for you, and mince them once they get to know you. Just the offcuts can be a bit fatty, but I adjust my guys diet accordingly and reduce the fat in other areas to make up for it (or make OH cut it all off). I can't get 60kg at once, my freezer isn't that big (plus as much as my Pugs would love it, they don't eat that much), but I easily get 10 or 20 kg at a time in my deep freezer. Goodness me, I just re-read my previous post and the spelling and grammar was shocking  Minimax - yes, agree that chicken is easy to get cheaply. I shop around between Red Lea, Lenard's and the butchers. We also have chicken wholesaler nearby. There is a meat wholesaler I go to to get bones. Not sure if they have offcuts that can be minced. I only get the bones as my Dobes can chomp through them. With 3 Dobes, everything is big in quanitity when purchasing  www.pricelesspets.com.au is a great site for pharmaceuticals for the dogs or cats.
-
I don't think alll Red Lea's have the same price judging by what other hava e said they can get their for. Inghams is great. They have turkey necks and good price. Worthwhile if you stock up if you don't live local. I have a large upright frost free freezer for my three. Not uncommon for me to get about 60-70kgs worth of stuff at one......lol. It's great that everyone is sharing bargain places with everyone else.
-
Thanks Aso. Will definitely give them a try next time.
-
Clyde - yes, Inghams at Bargo is great. Turkey and chicken products for both humans and pets. Too far for me to go, but have been there before. Aso, I never thought of Vic's Meats for dog bones. Is that on the side street off Wentworth Avenue? I'm at Maroubra. Do you think one has to buy human meat before they sell meaty bones? The salmon heads sound good as well. I've been purchasing pilchards for $5/kg. I've seen adverts Pendle Hill Meat Market. I assume they would have bones for dogs as well. http://www.pendleham.com.au/market/index.html

Thanks for the results Showdog, both Dobermann and GS. Does anyone know what happened to the Dog Show results link on the Perth Royal site? I cannot see it. http://www.perthroyalshow.com.au/best-in-show/Competition-Results.aspx Maybe I've gone blind. cheers KK Team

Noticed on the schedule that Dobermanns were already judged, but other breeds in Utility are still going or will be judged. Guess they might wait until the whole group is judged.
-
Hi, Thanks for posting the link. Am I blind or just crazy......were there Utility Group results? Looking for Dobermann results. thanks KK Team

To Clyde, More than likely, I'll be going to Southern Highlands (Berrima) to show a friend's dog on 20 and 21 October. Not sure what kind of stuff you are after, but I can get chicken at quite good prices and happy to bring stuff with me on the Saturday if you can pick up. Private me if you like. It's not a forever solution as I won't be going to Berrima every month, but happy to help out as I am coming anyway. I have a freezer just for the dogs and it's a god send when buying in bulk. cheers KK Team

Mossbank, what a great idea and than you for offering it to others on DOL. Wish you were in Sydney. One of my bitches would get goat's milk with some honey and egg yolk every other day when she was in whelp from about 3 to 6 weeks to help supplement the babies inside her. She was then flown to Perth for whelping, so the diet was then out of my control. I think most supermarkets have goat's milk, but it's pasteurised. Good luck and I hope you get lots of enquiries.

I agree with Bisart. I microwave Lamb's fry (Liver) but don't oven dry them. My Dobes love it and never get tired of it......but then again, I don't use alot as it is bait and should be a treat to get them to perform. I have seen many handlers constantly feed their dogs with the bait and I think that's why they get bored with it. I've helped hold other dogs in the Utility ring and have yet to meet a dog that does not like the lamb's fry. Good luck.
