  1. I am not a measurer nor do I feed a proper BARF diet... our dogs get mostly meat-on-the-bone and some dry..and whatever eggs they scrounge from the nests how they look dictates how much they get fed. You don't need to cook your dog's food raw meat providing it is good quality, is fine. I think people who use the BARF method use pureed or grated vege/fruit matter.
  2. ditto! Maybe because she is a much-wanted and loved ,tiny little girl, she has perhaps been paid lots of attention for being absolutely gorgeous, and hasn't had to ;work' for her attention fix ?
  3. If the marrowbones are cut in half lengthways, and the marrow rinsed/scraped out..no fat!! I would also recommend a big black kong, stuffed with all sorts, and frozen solid
  4. chicken wings, turkey wings, beef brisket bones, roo tails.......he is almost too big for chicken necks ...does he chew them thoroughly? Our latest, Widget,(koolie) grew out chick. necks at around 8 weeeks! now she gets large wings, half chicken frames , roo tails and beef bones at round 12 weeks:)
  5. Well Done, littlelabrador good progress! I just use a leash for TOT..not a rope
  6. hi... dumb question.. wouldn't walking away when the pup growls send her the message that her growling is having the desired effect? She growls, and is then left in peace?
  7. Hi..I don't know about playing chasey or jumping games with her, Chloebear..when you are trying to discourage some of this behaviour How about 'search and destroy' games .... hiding food/toys , and getting her to 'find' them? One thing I DO 'play' is the doggie version of the three peas  Get 3 cups/pots, all the same. tip them , mouth down, onto a hard floor. Take one tasty/smelly treat, and let her see you put it under one of the pots. With signs etc, show her where it is a few times, while saying "find' or 'where is it" or something... THEN start shuffling the position of the treasure cup around...don't put cups TOO close to each other, and let her nose find the treat! Mine have always loved it!They have to watch, think, find , and then get their treat when they tip over the cup ! You can also maybe teach her shake hands, using food or toys as reward? Sorry..I'm afraid my dogs don't get played with, really.
  8. OK Now ;)) seems it will only play nicely when on BEST setting . does a darn good job!! ;)
  9. canon paper...other paper..it's non-discriminatory. I bought a photo printer especially.... and now it is behaving worse than my old 3-in-one! ;)
  10. Ok.. Canon pixma iP4500 all installed and running. Have dione the print head alignment tests and cleaned the nozzles I am a fan of borderless prints. there is a warning on the onscreen manual thingy ...that there may be a decline in quality top&bottom of print when doing borderless ;) bugga But..it seem to be very noticeable..even on a print WITH borders ;) kinda faded colours, with visible lines across the print.. I am very disappointed indeed any ideas?
  11. ;) That's good to hear..she will be happier when she knows her boundaries . The cats will sort her out..may take a few swipes if she is persistent.
  12. any pups we have ( working coolies, bred on-farm) start at around 3 weeks with large meaty bones! They suck/chew at these, and eventually learn to chew the meat off. They then have 24 hour access to dry puppy kibble and fresh water, with a couple of meat feeds during the day, and mum with them constantly until about 5 weeks. by around 5-6 weeks the mums have usually weaned the pups, and don't spend much time with them....we never 'wean' pups..they do it themselves
  13. Bonnie Puppy or Bonnie working dog (plus meat/bones)
  14. VET NOW!! At least phone somewhere like werribbee or an emergency vet ... don't give him anything to eat.
  15. Hi... btw..I don't think your boy is silly ...he just is either not getting a reward for his effort, or your cues/commands have no meaning for him. what reward does he get when he does it right? I would suggest that in training, you always try and set the dog up to WIN At the moment, you are stopping, saying nothing, and he is doing nothing. Keep sessions short...a few minutes at a time is plenty..but do several sessions during the day. You need to perhaps SAY "sit" while making him sit..then lots of praise!!! eventually, just the stopping and a 'hint', make sure he sits..lots of praise... then just stopping. OR..find a nice LONG stretch of road..a km or two. walk along, in a straight line, stopping at kerbs, and making him sit..also a stop or two in between crossings. (some-one else will come along and explain this in a MUCH more concise way sorry )
  16. I don't have a DSLR , but my finepix S5600 does have manual options, as well as an excellent auto function!
  17. see what happens when one THINKS? they ask sensible questions!! *tries to put brain in gear* :D
  18. Maybe try having a larger aperture opening? From memory, the smaller the aperture opening, the more is included in the focus. With a larger opening, the 'depth of field' is a lot narrower, so the main object is all that is in focus. This opening has numbers , preceded by an F..eg F3.2 (widest opening), F22(narrowest opening) If you do reduce the aperture to a 5.6 or 3.2..you will need to INCREASE the shutter speed, or there will be way too much light coming in to 'overexpose ' the pic. practise on something ouside... play with the aperture numbers... and the exposure times/shutter speeds! take a couple of pics on each setting..then have a look on your puter, and see which ones give you the effect you like most :D also..having an F stop of F8 or higher usually gives a crisper, clearer photo.. altho you get more background. *Bella* GREAT pics
  19. Our dogs help themselves to chook/guineafowl eggs straight from the nests..... one poor chook lays in a dog kennel we have to be very quick to rescue each egg!
  20. I agree with Poodlewrangler... try turkey necks..or get LARGE chicken wings to slow her down Could you perhaps stuff her biscuits in a little kong, plug the hole with a pice of meat/larger biscuit..and let her work at it?
  21. A friend had a lab..middle-aged..with a lot of back pain..she eventually tried acupuncure with amazing results Not a cure, but months of much more comfortable life. Hope you can find something...
  22. Hi.. well, have my new printer sitting in its box still..as after a read of the little manual, and a look at the illustrations..think I need an engineering degree to set it up!!! :0 Canon iP4500 (pixma) is it as complicated as it looks? I am procrastinating big-time
