Hi... I don't think anyone can give you exact quantities to feed her :D She is still growing...don't forget. If you can feel her ribs easily..and she has a waistline, is active and shiny, then she is eating enough Do you have a picture of her that you can post ? Then we can SEE what she looks like Oh, and remember...she is a dog, so lots of bones to chew..
-
Hi.. any pups we have are always started on REALLY big bones..that CAN'T be swallowed at any stage..so they get used to the idea of chewing for extended periods..not gulping. I don't believe in cutting bones into chunky pieces...in case of a pup trying to swallow it whole

YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! that is such good news

Bonnie working dog used to be terrific...til Purina got their paws on it . Sorry..can't help.
-
Oh I can identify with that. Sorry.
-
May she prove them all wrong!!
-
I'm sorry you are feeling so bad have you considerd contacting a grief counsellor or someone? They may give you some strategies for getting back in control.
-
Fingers crossed for her!!! Glad there is a little positive news )

Sad news indeed R I P Choppa

Hmmm... Hard to prove, but it does seem awfully like an injury obtained whilst in their care
-
I am so sorry Definitely get a neurologist or chirop or both to check her out!!! Something may well have happened to her whilst being carried or moved into position. I would be also checking for bruises or signs she may have fallen? Xrays won't show nerve damage..did they say there was evidence of a pinched nerve or herniated disk? Get them to show YOU the Xrays, and explain what you are looking at!! Take someone esperienced in viewing Xrays with you.... as a silent partner..see what is going on. You poor thing ;)

Crying Dog, Vet Is Stumped

Hope it all goes well! -
Glad it worked for you, but I don't think it is one to recommend . On a dog home alone, trying to remove the rag could well lead to a nasty accident
-
sorry, I honestly think it will only provide him with MORE entertainment..dogs enjoy digging up stakes, and the orange mesh can be fun to chew &drag!! For your sake, I hope it works!
-
My only suggestion is to have washing hanging ONLY when you can supervise/contain the yellow peril!! You can correct him for a week..then one day he will succeed..and it is ,for him, FANTASTIC!! You need to compltely remove him from temptation, sorry.
-
Book him in at the vets, and have them removed!! No more fights/anxious times to have them clipped, and no more them getting caught up because they are over-long Otherwise..just another vet trip to snip and clean....

My 9 Year Old Rottie Girl Has Had A Stroke
persephone replied to rakaaz's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Oh She is obviously getting very good care One thing..if she has only partial control over her tongue..check she isn't getting a bit dehydrated ..the extra effort in drinking, and the lack of fine motor control to make the tongue curl to hold water may make for a bit of difficulty in drinking enough? I would be feeding her more wet food and checking urine..if it is darker and smellier..she may not be drinking quite enough. She WILL be tired..her body /brain has been altered and everything has now to be done in a different way. She has very caring people around her..I'm sure she will bounce back. -
That's unfortunate. It only goes to reinforce her habit:( I feel it is your responsibility, to your guests, for their comfort/safety, and to your dog, for her growth and training , to have her in a situation where YOU control what she does. Whether that is on lead when there are visitors, so she is sitting/lying at your side/feet, or separate from the activity, which will 'hype' her up even more, with noise and people moving here & there. Until you can effectively teach her calm behaviour..she should be physically controlled. SHE needs to understand that YOU are in control.(and you need to learn HOW to be in control- NOT punishing the dog...not 'mastering ' the dog..just controlling/educating, and being the wise/firm leader )...that there are other ways of behaving, which are calmer and earn rewards.
-
Our dogs don't often ever see any other dogs...not at our place anyway..they do when they work on other properties..I would think bloodshed We have a 'no-dog' rule for visitors......with a couple of exceptions. Not worth the bother.

I thought that's why people bought lamb flaps? for the fat content, to improve a dog's condition? Otherwise, use roo tails or lambshanks, chicken frames , or rabbits , maybe? I am using very fatty lamb flap pieces to put some condition on 2 of our dogs at present

HI... Can you tell us what methods you have used so far? Which seemed to work better? I would suggest (not knowing what has been tried) having different routines for when your husband comes home, perhaps? If you can manage, have your husband(and everyone else) TOTALLY ignore her jumping. No pushing at her, or yelling..just walk off, not looking at her. She will eventually calm down. THEN tell her to SIT, and QUIETLY say hello. Maybe have her away from where he comes in? Then bring her in on a leash, and have her sit? I would also recommend that she is NOT around the kids unless on a leash ..just until you learn some skills to make her realise where in the pack she stands, and that her behaviour is not on. Basically, she is needing some leadership here. Have a read of this thread http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?show...&hl=Jumping You may also want to start feeding her doing THIS program :D http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?showtopic=64101

Does Missy Look Underweight To You?
persephone replied to Roxy_and_Missys_Mum's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
She looks fine, and very content :D -
Our dogs enjoy the bone 'dust; , but, yes it has a lot of marrow/fat in it usually, so feed sparingly  Does your dog have constipation, or is she just having to use some effort to defaecate ? If she is just having to use a bit of force to 'go'..then that is fine..it also means that the anal glands will probably get emptied If, on the other hand , she is straining without result, and uncomfortable, then maybe she needs some help in the form of a bit of canned food, or paraffin oil. Bones should be fed in proportion to other parts of the diet
