  9. That poor , poor mum ... I can only imagine half of what she must be feeling . Dear little pup I would have really liked to lay that flight attendant flat out on the tarmac!!!!!
  10. disturbing images , sorry . ( thanks for reminding me, Thistle ) A dog in a pet carrier designed to fit under an airline seat died after a flight attendant ordered its owner to instead put it in a plane's overhead locker on a United Airlines flight from Houston to New York. When the plane landed, the black French bulldog's owner found it dead, passenger Maggie Gremminger said on Twitter. "She sat in the airplane aisle on the floor crying, and all of [the] surrounding passengers were utterly stunned," Ms Gremminger said. The dog was travelling with its owner, and her baby and young daughter, passenger June Lara said in a Facebook post. "I held her baby as the mother attempted to resuscitate their 10-month-old puppy," he said. "I cried with them three minutes later as she sobbed over his lifeless body." Flight attendants had "assured the safety of the family's pet, so wearily, the mother agreed", Mr Lara said. http://www.abc.net.au/news/2018-03-14/dog-dies-locked-in-united-airlines-plane-overhead-locker/9546198
  11. Everyone , every dog, and every way of letting go a life is different
  12. So sorry. Stitch ... I'm probably no help .... but that sounds a good thing When you need to add more , and stronger meds ... or when she declines food ..that would be 'it' for me .
  13. Nothing negative in there ! if one wants to be available / be ready to act ..torches/towels/phone/whatever ready to grab saves a lot of sleepy fumbling A hint as well ( as long as dogs are NOT trained to use these ) use a Connie human bed pad as a bedside mat ..so, when you do step out of bed , if someone has urinated , there's no puddle, and floor is protected . (O.T.) this is what I also use when dad visits . He uses a bottle for night time bladder relief ..and a large Conni pad/mat on the floor saves worrying for us all
  14. is YOUR hearing OK ? The BEST thing I found with my dogs is one or two of these( fishing rod bell..around 2-3 $) clipped/wound around /sewn on to a collar . They DO need to have long spring so they wobble with slight movement ..and very quickly , each sound is able to be interpreted
  15. @Powerlegs I was wondering that ( and have been too chicken to look it up , cos I'd hate for those beautiful leopards to all get rabies )
  16. Npw that is scary !!! yes//here comes the narrative ;) many years ago , when Mum & i were much fitter , and we had dozens of guinea fowl , they were spokked by an owl one night . being free range, sleeping in trees, they just took off ..and landed in a paddock a hundred metres or so from our house. Mum & I grabbed torches , bags into which we would place birds..and off we went . Searching for grey/dark crouching birds , on a clay, shrubby background by torchlight ..not terrific odds to start with . THEN ..... the foxes came . they could find the guineas , and we listened , as one after another, our guineas were picked off . At one stage , we stood together, and shone our torches around us in a circle ... y'know the old westerns /scary movies ? Firelight , scared humans, wolf/coyote eyes in a circle? YEP. I shall never forget it .We were totally safe of course ...but every primal instinct was saying otherwise !!! LOL Anyhow ..yes, we lost around half of the guineas who flew off, rescued some, and a few found their way home safely ... A night to remember , Now, did I tell you the one about the fox & the road ? ........ jus'jokin' :)
  17. The leopard V dog thing puts a whole new perspective on the whole dog V cat idea !!
  18. scrambled egg & butter @ 2:30 ? add parsley, & I'm there !! LOL Mince & rice for Sarah ..or even a coupl spoonsful of lovely creamyporridge ( cooked creamy ..not with cream) pre cooked ..and warmed to taste
  19. Mixed breeds here all have kelpie/dingo base
  20. The Boss's Macca , when young ,was once trapped in a dam on the property where he was born . He was terrific as a light-work stock horse - had a wonderful temperament ..just as long as he was never asked to go anywhere near any body of water which wasn't his trough . It keeps on making me sad , seeing how many more people there are now living cheek-to-jowl , and , naturally , so many want to own a dog . Dogs living mostly indoors , as singletons , with set and structured times for everything - and so many owners having so much love, and so little nous
  21. sadly, no. IF you researched your breeder , found that they have health tested their dogs , have previously bred healthy dogs ... , then THEY have done their homework . With living things, there are no guarantees at all .
