Re Blocked anal glands- I would think to get that degree of external redness and irritation, the internal discomfort would be pretty severe One would think she'd be showing some signs. That's a thought- do the groomers express anal glands when they have the dog?

Ohhh well, she is in the best spot now- Have you contacted the people from whom she came ? She was possibly incubating something when she travelled to you! They might like to know- or they may have noticed their dog/s ill too? Hopefully the vet will have good news tomorrow. being on the drip OH-Just re read and she is NOT on a drip? Subcut fluid is better than nothing ,tho.. will perk her up and give her something to fight with

Ouch! That looks very red,hot and sore is she worried about it at all?If not, then tomorrow afternoon should be fine to wait.... If you have any sort of DOG cream/lotion for skin probs- phone a vet ,list ingredients,& ask if it would be ok in the short term... All I can suggest is maybe a small human anti histamine dose... once again, ask the vetbefore using Poor little one.... edit to say -could well be a nasty reaction to something at the groomers ?

let her SLEEP! Sleep is the best thing for her body now---- she will awaken if she needs the toilet ;)Just be observant, and let her rest & heal...

Fingers crossed for her- hope 24 hrs sees her MUCH more comfortable....

It's worse when a young one goes- sorry.

I would have her to the vet- with a weekend & all- It could be anything- but a vet check, taking temp, feeling her tummy & checking stool could be a valuable tool ;) The stress of travelling, the vaccination, all will be stressing her immune system- she is only little hope she is feeling better soon.

Hi Your dogs don't need rice- their systems are built to digest MEAT,bones, and a small amount of vegetable matter.

Dog Carrying On Like Pork Chop
persephone replied to toy dog's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
not a silly idea--- BUT the dogs are NOT clones, so may be exhibiting a similar behaviour for very different reasons , and what works for her dog may make yours worse! If your dog is large- then having a trainer to work with YOU is a very good option- they can assess the dog, and give you some sound strategies ,tailored for that particular dog. -
Distended Stomach After Desexing?

Phone the vet,please- best to be on the safe side!! Don't wait until morning,either..... -
Hi- could be a yeast/bacterial infection- or simply coming from dirty feet! Check with your vet yep as the pads are the only skin which sweats- this is where the smells can come from. In between toes, where it's nice and moist- a dog cleans its feet- introduces some organisms, which thrive- are then transferred by licking ,to other body parts--- You can try washing her feet only- in a pure mild soap.. rinse well, and towel dry. Do it at night... this will often cut back on just the general 'doggy smell' ;)

No.... she does NOT know that it was her,or her actions which upset you. She is a dog, and a baby one at that... she does NOt think that way ... She does, however feel a bit unsettled/scared by your reactions... hence trying to seek reassurance from you. have a read here.. http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?showtopic=117592 http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?showtopic=62375 in case you missed them . and here... http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?show...toilet+training http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?show...hl=peeing+puppy if you want to see what others do.

do you have any plain laundry velvet soap?? Cut a piece off -- a bit longer than the Glycerin supp. wet it to soften it a bit.. dunk it in some olive oil, and try and insert it alongside the stool.... it can help lubricate- where glycerin is more an irritant..to get the muscles moving :D Hope she's not in too much discomfort for the night Paraffin oil by mouth--- ,otherwise anything you give her to eat will just have to try and get thru.... I feel it will make her more 'full' and uncomfortable. ...

Hi Dogs don't need much vegetable matter at all peas and corn aren't well digested... a lot of fibre. he also doesn't need the carbs in pasta and rice . I will echo the comment about the amount of poo a diet which contains easily digested protein etc. will produce very little waste. Have fun with your boy... and have a read here http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?show...hl=feeding+meat http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?show...hl=feeding+meat and... http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?show...hl=feeding+meat

maybe it will be something as simple as feeding her 3x day... little bits..HOPEFULLY. *fingers crossed* A friends dog was hypoglcaemic... they took ages to find the cause- thought it was epilepsy/heart.... but once they found out.. it was a matter of management.

Home Alone Activities For 2 Border Collies
persephone replied to petmezz's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
The frozen things and bones and kongs are an OK idea... BUT if these two are cooped up all day in a small area everyday... and only have the food items to think about... I would worry about fights Two active young border collies locked in a double garage ... with minimal exercise and stimulation = a sad situation. I know there are kids involved, but are these dogs really getting a quality lifestyle? Further down the track- they may think of ways to amuse themselves... barking,digging,chewing.. all of which are stressful for dogs& people alike  Good for you to try and alleviate the situation, but I think they need a lot more. -
is chicken/rabbit.fish lower in protein than beef/kangaroo/lamb? I thought it was.... But then you miss out on iron & stuff....
-
Hi... When is your dog fed? Just wondering if Hypoglycaemia could be a trigger?
-
Just make sure it is 'stress'.... what is her temp? She may be reacting to different water, or any one of a number of things . Hopefully she will be ok soon.Poor thing It is obviously an ordeal for her When working in kennels, I have seen a lot of dogs with kennel/seperation anxiety- but none with vomiting/diarrhoea.... maybe I was lucky  We had lots of droolers/pacers/whiners and shiverers... and those who had to be tempted to eat 'our' food...

Hi... have a look here http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?show...=nipping+biting http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?show...Nipping+mothing You may get some ideas. It is something that definitely needs stopping... hope you and pup can communicate without the teeth, soon.

If she sleeps outdoors or in a laundry... just give her heaps of old newspapers/cardboard sheets. ...remove bedding except for night time? Sorry can't really help- none of ours do it, so have no experience. It would be very annoying!!

Oh... sorry. RIP benjamin.
