  1. Young labs can be a handful The ones I've known can be very full-on,and need a lot of firm calm training . Labs can be an ideal dog for kids to have around- because of their low body sensitivity, and general lack of concern for loud noises, fast movements etc. However, these very traits can make training interesting
  2. ABDL- it may be possible to'fix'- altho why would you want to further stress out the old lady of the house, and put BOTH dogs under pressure? Just totally separate them at feed time- they can eat in peace, and you don't have to worry. Make sure tho- that bowls are picked up,and scraps scrounged, before dogs are let back together
  3. Easy- feed them in different rooms- or one outside ,one inside. It's not worth the risk by feeding together.........
  4. I wouldn't be feeding raw carrot if he has a sensitive stomach... Do you use probiotics?
  5. Chicken can one of the worst carriers of bacteria- I rarely use it. Try them on lamb/beef/roo. No need to use chicken at all, IMO.
  6. So sorry,calsonic- that's a friend thru all your growing -up time gone Take care- he was obviously much loved.
  7. I don't know- sorry, not a technical bone in my body All I know is on my camera there is a button up near the viewfinder- press it and the screen is either in use or dark.Only time i use it is for awkward macro shots ...
  8. I agree with the fact that personal professional help is urgently needed here. Contact the person recommended to you, and get this problem resolved with someone expert in the field.
  9. I have a finepix- and use the zoom a lot, and flash occasionally.. a set of (rechargable) batteries lasts me about 10 days.. and that is taking up to 30 photos every day!! What I DON"T use on my camera is the viewing screen! That uses up power quickly. I use the optical viewfinder for both composing and viewing photos. You may want to change the rechargeables you use... I use VARTA ones. For non- recharge ones- i use the coppertop batteries
  10. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO not the cobs I have seen a few dogs with blockages caused by indigestible corn cobs  Have also seen a couple of favourite labs years ago- deliberately fed them,by a sick person, and then die from resulting obstruction/infection
  11. Would the breeder take the pup back ? *dons flame suit* If it were me- I would probably be returning this dog to the breeders,. Sounds like a lot of work and bills ahead- and if you are having doubts already..... then make your decisions quickly. Either you decide, as 'bell' has done with her rescue girl, to get vet work done, and also get in professional help for behavioural issues-- or- you decide to return the pup.
  12. RIP Mawson- You did the right thing for your boy on all counts ,,, so sorry you only had him a short time.
  13. Oh I'm sorry she is sore- but glad you found out now, before doing things to try and correct her unwillingness. maybe that's why she doesn't want the lead on,too- she associates it,and the walks, with being sore? Hopefully with the anti inflamms, she will improve. The allergies are a bummer Did the breeder say why she was selling this pup? Have you spoken to them about the health problems? IF you are still going to obedience- make sure you let them know she is sore in front!! Also- adjust her exercise accordingly. Hopefully you can come to an arrangement with the vet- time payment or something... as Xray will give you a MUCH better idea of what's happening inside those joints. You may have decisions to make... so sooner would be better than later
  14. Whilst not being worried is ok- What do you do/say to him on these occasions?
  15. We whistle, but not with 'a' whistle All our dogs come to a whistle- names are only used if a particular dog has to do something different to the others  Whistling is much less embarrassing, and most dogs respond well ,IMO. My cats have all been recalled by whistle as well.......... was very useful in the city- they had a particular whistle , which they knew
  16. That doesn't sound good- maybe she DOES have knee/hip issues and is sore Maybe she has learnt that by rolling over she at least gets a rest, and SOME attention To a dog- even 'BAH!", and moving away is ATTENTION- so their behaviour is rewarded
  17. Have you done the triangle of temptation , or NILIF program with him? He sounds as if he needs to realise that you are 'god'..and , for his comfort, he needs to pay attention!
  18. They are dogs. Dogs chew bones. If it hurts, they will stop - they are more in tune than us humans Puppies who are teething really need bones then- to keep gums strong, help loosen/remove teeth, and keep mouth clean .
  19. Pups can have bones as soon as they can chew
  20. thanks, but most of it is luck- I tend to click before I think !
  21. THIS IRIS was shot this evening- I just lined it up, and took the pic 1/500 s, F 5.6 and iso 100 No PS adjusting required Sometimes the time and light are better than others!
  22. yes, your vet knows your little man- and can tell you if things will be a problem or not. Hopefully all will be ok- and he can be more comfortable
