I can understand muzzling the dog for a brief time... After Hamlet had surgery to remove sticks/leaves, he wore a muzzle during walks(free running) for months .. but not at other times . However- it is just a 'bandaid', and theCAUSE of this compulsive eating of junk needs to be found and sorted

have a read HERE to learn more of food/ingredients and pleAse- hold off on adding chemicals to his system until he is well ( unless they are vet prescribed)
-
Bonnie is better than a lot of the supermarket stuff... but is not a "premium food'. I think that a 'good' food can be judged by the ingredient list. Dry dog food with meat as the first ingredient, and NO wheat or corn re among the 'best'. At this stage- just get him vet checked, THEN worm him/de flea him /change his food....
-
We have used bonnie pup food with no problem... I would recommend a VET check. THEN... if there is no illness, or gut function problem maybe cut out grains altogether.. and feed raw food, ie: meaty bones , with a small proportion of veg/fruit/egg/fish. AS he has a normal poo in the morning, it does sound as if there is something happening during the day- he is maybe processing food too fast, or getting too much for his system, or..... having ribs visible isn't a good thing in such a baby... See what the vet says...

I would also suggest reading up on pica getting in a professional trainer/behaviouralist - to assess the dog/environment/owners, and suggest strategies. providing more stimulation for the dog- not LESS, as is being done by confining/muzzling. Have a look HERE The sandpit idea sounds a good one too IF it is all seeming too hard, by all means contact customs etc- she could be just what they are seeking!! Shame about the breeder's attitude

What did the vet suggest? Seizures may be caused by all sorts of things- remove your air freshener and see what happens - however, a vet check will help to locate the cause. Hope it doesn't happen again

Hi- I have never heard of bathing a suture line post op ... Your bitch should ,ideally be BY HERSELF, resting, and NOT jumping or playing with another dog- for at least 5 days, as far as I know Hope all is well, and she doesn't do any permanent damage.

Good for you in pre-planning! May I suggest that for the first day or two you refrain from randomly cuddling and cooing over your new boy? especially on the way home in the car Have a routine set from day ONE.. and give pup lots of praise and cuddles for participating... NOT for jumping on the couch ... or demanding a cuddle . Puppies aren't human babies- patting/cuddling/picking them up when they whinge/cry/shake just tells them that that particular behaviour gets rewarded!!!

No.. i think it's a bit sad... that today's dogs spend so much time indoors that burying food treasures in furniture is their version of 'normal' Our guys never have any meat/bones indoors.. all outside, with the doors shut!

A 'dog training Centre' ? I would suggest you give us your city/town, and then contact a good trainer who someone may recommend!! Sounds as if your pup and you woul;d benefit much more from one-to- one sessions .

Aggression And Natural Protection.
persephone replied to Just Midol's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
My old Mitchell was the sweetest dog around people and other animals generally... but he was also totally reliable as a self-appointed 'protector' when the two of us were anywhere ...if it was not a 'walking the dog' exercise.. and I was sitting/taking photos/ snoozing on a beach or something... NO ONE would get within a few metres of me without him growling/standing up... He let burglars rob my car.... -
Crying here......... so sorry- but it's not your fault.

I have just tried out Picasa's new features.. haven't had time before ( have used picasa for years... I am impressed with their new collage function, and also the ability to add text to photos, and edit out obvious flaws/blemishes easily ... May I recommend it to those who just want to have a 'play', and not get bogged down in technology-speak a quick one just done to celebrate our rain event, today ! 20 mm

Severe Case Of "little Dog Sydrome"
persephone replied to animalsluvbree's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
animalsluvbree... What is his general behaviour? How does he behave around the house? Sit for his food.. walk on lead politely... not look for attention... What training do you do with him? and ............. do you have photos? You would probably benefit from a professional trainer one-one one .Interpreting body language and attitude is easier when the trainer can see and interact with teh dog concerned . -
Definitely!! There will be tears before bedtime

I would.. It sounds as if they are totally ignorant of cameras.... and are just trying to offload it... Or are being deliberatley misleading...
